You’re a lifesaver sir! When I accidentally destroyed most of the ribbon cable coming out of my 97 NA clockspring I thought it was all over. I was moments from just pulling the clock spring and snipping wires, but watched your video, did the same on my Momo hub/Sparco wheel and it’s working great. Awesome! Many thanks!
Hey man, great video this is super helpful! Do you have a video on how you replaced your stock seatbelts and where you purchased those aftermarket belts? Thanks!
hey man, i'm having issues with the horn button on an exact same miata. how did you solder the wire? do you have any pics or instructions on how to rip the small rectangular tab and connect the wire to the correct terminal? my horn doesn't work when i ground any of the 3 wires to the column so i'm guessing i broke the connection by pushing the rectangle down, like you did in the first attempt
Yeah so inside the black tab is a white ribbon cable, you can grab what's left and pull it out a little bit. It's three flat wires in one, the horn is the middle one. What I did is melt off a small amount of the white insulation with the soldering iron until I got some clean copper and soldered the wire to that area. That part is a little tricky...heat the ribbon cable a bit and also pre tin the wire you're using then get your solder ready. Used leaded solder because it will melt way easier. Once it's on, keep the iron on it a couple more seconds to wet it out so it won't just flake off.
@@OGPedXing ripped the tab off and tried connecting a wire from the middle terminal to the steering column... doesn't do anything. did i ruin the clockspring?
@@mihaidaniel496 No probably the clockspring is fine, there may be too much insulation still on there preventing a good connection. The ribbon wires are super thin. Also make sure middle wire isn't touching one of the side wires in the ribbon.
@@OGPedXing NP, I just ordered same wheel from same seller.(The mod 7 leather was not available ahead of time on amazon ca, they just updated the list). I believe ur review is at the top. And i had to buy this horn specifically off eBay since all newer production run unit has that arrow looking horn, which was pretty lame in my opinion.
@@nicolaslee7331 check out the web store revlimiter.net. he does small batch custom horn buttons, all kinds of styles. You can get some retro Mazda symbols or all kinds of stuff. The guy ( Adam) does really nice work.
Sorry for the late reply -- it was seatbeltsplus.com. I did the old style clips (like you see on planes but used to be in cars as well) for the retro look. :) They've been excellent.
@@Linglinglinggggg glad to help. Also the nice thing about the hub is now any of the Momo style wheels will work with it so you can swap it out without much difficulty. The soldering part is a little nerve wracking but it's super easy compared to grinding out a big hole in the hub.
The six holes for the steering wheel screws are threaded. The center hole for the main nut on the column is not but it does slide into the splines so it will be aligned perfectly.

Nice! Glad it helped you 👍
this was the most helpful video hands down, you’re the man! keep up the good work
Nice walkthrough, loved the video.

@@OGPedXing fixed it today, the connection was broken. I opened up the clockspring and made a new one. All good now yay! Thanks for the help man!
So basically just cut the horn harness and just keep the red and green wire correct?
Yep! Although the color of wires can change year to year, so just test it out before putting it all back together.
that horn was limited run at the time, i think MoMo changed out that horn after end of 2017, so u got lucky
Interesting, thanks for posting that info. I had always wondered what the deal was with that horn button.

Where did you get those belt at? Mine are getting worn and want to replace them.

Did you leave the clock spring in place
Yes, the clock spring is still there, just modified to connect the horn wire through the hub to the button on the wheel.
@@OGPedXing perfect thanks brother. Awesome vid
Does the steering wheel have any play when using the momo boss hub ?
No play. It's been nice and solid.
OGPedXing Thanks for the reply im digging your steering wheel & hub combo. Your video was very informative

What wheel is this?
Full part number is in the vid but it's a momo mod 07
But while I’m showing you the memo install....take a random time consuming look at my seatbelts 😂😂😂😂
They ARE fabulous though right?
Are the holes on the momo hub threaded?
