RIP last of HE models in AoS setting
“They wanted to take it ASAP”
I see what you did there. ;)
Good overview and nice detailing of how a lot of Ghyran mountains are basically amber bubbles.
Personally love it when they go full tree volcano shooting out molten sap. That line of sap volcanoes on the Ghyran map is so cool!
I also agree of the wasted potential the city had BUT bright side is the chaos occupiers that want to explore the amber frozen city caverns could get us another Warcry:Catacombs under the city as Varanguard squires battle a hidden enclave of amber mountain Alarith or the like.
Loved the battle descriptions as well! The anime flying Varanguard vs windmages battle in the sky hyped me up to order more Hurakan & Endless Spells alongside the final campaign book! 👌
Perhaps this plot puts the element of fire from the high elves of old back in the lumineth from the cities of sigmar
I understand why they destroyed phonecium. It didn’t have to be the finale.
Abraxia is a BEAST! I would love to read about her fighting Eternus. This would be real deal fanboy duel :D
A maybe cool idea they could use would be to make Phenicium into kinda AoS Moria/Mordheim. A great city that is just a corpse with monsters roaming the streets and adventurers looking for treasure trapped in amber.
Otherwise, meh. Really annoying that the Helf city was killed off for the sake of separating Old World lineup from AoS.
So they are formally setting up Cities of Sigmar as the human faction, rather than the "free peoples" that it used to stand for when first introduced in AoS 1 Season of War
More or less, though as we already have seen with Ogor Warhulks they’ll mix in other races. They’ll likely end up on the periphery of the faction though as it focuses more on humans diversified throughout the Realms.
It was always gonna be rough since CoS started it’s existence as a placeholder for older armies and pushed by the creator of Warcry who loved their flavor that had it go as long as it did.
My guess is they are removing the aelf elements, anything high Aelf is now firmly in the lumineth faction and the dark aelf stuff is either daughters of khaine or I imagine going to get shifted to malerion probably with new sculpts. I reckon cities duardin will remain but the range will get smaller. They are to involved in the lore to go completely. There are always duardin in cities stories, how often are there elves?
In hindsight, it looks like the elf/dwarf aspect of cities of sigmar is still safe for 4th edition 👍🏻👍🏻 the rules for the COS still involve I interactions with elf’s and dwarves
4:07 THE BOSTON MOLASSACRE!!!
Being up late at night to see this notification, what sweet beautiful serendipity!!!! 😍 ive been loving your break down of these stories 🎉
Id really love it if they created a whole new faction of elves based on the Phoenix lore explicitly. All about rebirth and regaining glory.
Yeah lets be honest Pehonicieum was just pure wasted potential. It had some of the coolest backstories of all the free cities and yet just languished in the background for three whole editions before this. Objectively, this feels less like a natural conclusion to the city and more GW just coming up with an excuse to off the city when they phased out the old Pheonix Guard models. While at the same time giving a hook to bring back updated pheonix Guard probably ported over into Lumineth Realmlords. I mean...............................Spoilers
Given it was spoiled in the updated Great Parch map Embergard is the city that got wrecked it seemed more that they picked the Ghryan Dawnbringer city to get saved just to have an excuse to phase out Pheonicium and probaly because they wrote themselves into a corner given Embergard was smack dab next to the Vermindoom lol
Just leaving comment for the almighty algorythm. Love your coverage of the AoS lore. Keep it up, my good man.
Elf busting makes me feel good 🎶 I ain't afraid of no Elf. (Ghostbusters reference).
Me, not being a an old world fanatic with nostalgic memories for these old models, always felt the Phoenix Guard had become redundant with the release of the Lumineth, and personally I'm satisfied that GW actually came up with a lore reason why the models disappear from the range rather than just taking them out of their stores with no in-world explanation for their disappearance. Has the narrative potential of Phoenicium been wasted? Yes. But it's far from the only place and the fact that so little has ever been told about the place means no ones really invested in it yet. And I say that as someone with a Lions of Sigmar warband. By the way, where the Lions of Sigmar not at home? They have a stormkeep in Phoenicium.
I very much appreciate this Doug, now I can save money from buying the book to buying stuff from your affiliate link!
Chaos gods just need some lexapro
Chaos is just so damn cool in AOS (I'm actually rooting for them)
I LOVE IT SO MUCH THAT YOUR BACK ON THIS BRO
I can't believe people are actually bitching about Cities of Sigmar getting its own unique idea instead of being the place where GW dumped a bunch of old crappy models.
Change is hard, especially for people that bought into the older model line ups to make the vision they had and don’t like proxies.
Angry people is gonna happen for both right & wrong reasons. Hopefully years from now CoS will finally have that identity nailed down and can grow from there with no more placeholder stumbles.
I have friends who complain about every single change to their army good or bad before even really seeing how said ability or character functions lol change is very hard for some folks considering they play a game constantly in a state of flux
So I'm guessing they chose to kill off phoenicium to free up the model range for old world and open the door for phoenix units for lumineth. I reckon that aelf units are going to disappear from CoS, the dark aelf stuff becoming part of malerions faction when he finally comes (could see him arrive as head of a new grand alliance of shadow) i think duardin will stay with cities though with a limited range update. The cities duardin are pretty different from fyreslayers and kharadron.
Malerion's faction will be part of Order. He even used to belong to the old pantheon
Oh boy.
The Broken Realms stories are really flat.
This one is no different. There’s a lot of VERY convenient circumstances once again so she can pull off her „master plan“ which needs an IQ of stale bread.
Every reason for decision is „because reasons“
It doesnt make sense to me that an apocaliptic army couldnt break a newly formed city but they could attack a millenia old bastion from the sky... if you could have always done that, why not attack verdigris from the sky?
She probably didn’t think she needed to for the new city(hubris and chaos lords go hand in hand) and after her poisoning she needed to get the flame and did so with full desperation
Are there female fire slayer warriors
Yes there are! I am hoping they get a range refresh and add more ladies, weapon options and poses.
Look at the warcry warband. They have at least two models
Lorewise, the ladies wear armor (not just that warband but all of the female fyreslayers)
@@jonathancampbell7798 thanks
That's sick wouldn't mind some female KO models (love they find a purpose for all members of society or they can't BE in society lol)
God damn. They will remove aelfs and duardin from cities. Imo this is laying the ground. I am super afraid of that ;(
👍
Chaos, Yes-yes!
Abraxia is a BEAST! I would love to read about her fighting Eternus. This would be real deal fanboy duel :D
