Midra has to be one of my favorite FromSoft bosses ever. The whole Frenzy Flame premise is just so intriguing to me as is, then Midra enters the chat and puts the biggest smile on my face. I wish I could discover this fight for the first time again
These long fights with maxed music volume really accentuate the "epicness" of the dlc bosses. Its awesome how each boss has a "wow" moment and they went all in on that especially on the dlc. I am really looking foward to seeing your other boss wins for peak cinema moments. These videos are also great to share and help convince how amazing the dlc is haha.
Honestly, this challenge is so worth it just for awesome bosses like this. You mean to tell me that I get to fight my favorite boss in the game even longer? Yes, please!
How do you know which composer composed each specific track? Is there a place to find this info? I often see people talking like they know exactly who did each piece of music but the game has several composers. Is there like a breakdown somewhere?
@@MarkHogan994 I bought the soundtrack officially, and they come with metadata which contains composers for each track. Wild how the frost proc + the riposte "killed the boss" such that his head disappeared, but you still hit him twice more for visible damage to close it out - strange interaction to cap off an amazing fight!
@@JB-xl2jc The section that contains the song of despair (merchant's song) 5:48 ties it all together so well imo, that distortion has so much meaning if you apply the cut content of the origin of the song. That song warping out of control in this OST made me feel like it was meant to point out they were far beyond help, that there is no panacea - they now can only revel in madness. It really helps convey the gravity of the situation, if he had truly "endured enough" and is a LoFF now then he's an existential threat if left alone. This, and hearing the music in Shaman Village (honestly this whole location is perfect when it comes to visual/audio story telling) vs the Elden Beast OST were my favorite parts in the DLC by far.
Messmer is my favourite in the game now, but Midra is up there for sure. These two, Bayle and Rellana are incredible. Dancing Lion, Romina and Radahn are amazing too
This is a great choice for a favorite boss. I love that his lore is that he is so beaten down and miserable, and then turns to frenzied flame as a result. He is exactly the person who would want to burn down the world. and despite having empathy for him, the player must kill him anyway, it truly is a fantastically designed boss
You know what's crazy about the difficulty of these fromsoft games? You only need to learn a boss really well once. After that, you'll never really struggle again. If you never learn, you'll always just struggle through the game on subsequent playthroughs. Watching Lobos masterfully dodge and parry here reminded me of this.
This is so true, and it's probably the main reason why I haven't done an RL1 playthrough. Learning the fights to that level would just trivialise future playthroughs. I did DS3+DLCs at SL1 and even though it was an incredible experience, it ruined the replayability of the game for me. Every major fight is a little too easy to enjoy. It's especially noticeable in Sekiro, once you learn the rhythm of fights like Owl Father and Sword Saint, you just can't forget it
I exist in an endless backlog of Lobos content and very much appreciate this fight getting it's own dedicated upload! Already watched your first run through but even when I was doing mine and I saw those really broad sword swings that ol' parry fiend Lobos was gonna really enjoy this boss. Truly the best boss fight against the color yellow From has ever done.
My first time fighting this boss it was a late Friday night and it was storming like crazy outside and it was just an awesome experience with the storm outside. Definitely my favorite boss in the DLC.
why not have 2 daggers, 1 for status affect, other for riposte for damage. you can infuse the riposter with lightning, magic or fire depending on boss for more riposte damage.
@@LobosjrGamingThats nuts lmao, I’d assume that endgame bosses in challenge runs like these would take 100x as many attemps as they did in first playthrough
@@LobosjrGaming When you do the consort fight, do you use the back-step talisman? He’s great but he’s so underwhelming imo, way too easy of a moveset and needed a phase 3 Also you should try jumping some of the attacks like the frenzy flame sword
Midra is fine as he is, not every boss needs to be insanely hard. He's a good challenge and that's all he needs to be. A phase 3 would've been total overkill, he already has a ton of HP, 47k just on new game. We don't need fights to be marathons. That would just be exhausting. Also it's hilarious that you're giving Lobos tips on how to dodge moves when he literally just beat the boss on NG+7, level 1, and 0 scadu, while only getting hit once lol.
@@MarkHogan994 I disagree, I found the lack of challenge made him very underwhelming and I think him being more difficult would have been much for the better, as of right now he's like a DS3 boss where you don't even really need to think. I say he needed a phase 3 too because he transitions in phase 2 extremely early so phase 1 is very short and unremarkable, a phase 3 would have benefitted him greatly imo. If Lady Maria or Gael having 3 phases isn't overkill then I don't see why it would be for Midra. I also recommend Lobos jump some attacks because he's not utilising it that much, yeah he did it hitless at NG+7 but he basically just rolled everything, no wonder this is his favourite boss because it's basically a DS3 boss and in DS3 all you do to avoid damage is roll.
@@anonymous01201 second phase for many bosses in ER is just phase 1 but stronger (which are still hard when you're unfamiliar with boss).
