The Lisboa Card website now list Saint George Castle / Castillo de San Jorge as FREE. But in their brochure, it listed the Church Tower in St. Jorge’s Castle (Torre de la Iglesia del Castillo de S. Jorge) as a 20% discount. Is the St George Castle inclusion new, and what's the difference between that and the "Church Tower in St. Jorge's Castle"?
Yes, I can see what you're looking at and it seems to suggest that the castle is now free. Certainly wasn't when we were there so this must be a change. Not sure about the tower as I don't remember there being another entrance to something. Hopefully this new change is the truth, but anecdotally, we found the resources online about the Lisboa Card to be quite unreliable and things were different than we had expected.
Am planning on going to Lisboa in January for about 5 days. I would like to know know if they give a list of perks and benefits before purchasing the card? I don't want to purchase the card and then find out that many places are off-limits. Like the € ,50 bathrooms at the beach near Tore De Belem.
Not sure exactly whether things like that are included, but here is a full list of perks: s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/visitlisboa.com/crjYJPVFRQxMvCVLwoRwSTb7?response-content-disposition=inline%3B%20filename%3D%22Guia_LxCard_Ing_Esp_Junho_2024.pdf%22%3B%20filename%2A%3DUTF-8%27%27Guia_LxCard_Ing_Esp_Junho_2024.pdf&response-content-type=application%2Fpdf&X-Amz-Algorithm=AWS4-HMAC-SHA256&X-Amz-Credential=AKIAXAZQBUFBPT7RTUNM%2F20241207%2Feu-west-1%2Fs3%2Faws4_request&X-Amz-Date=20241207T115347Z&X-Amz-Expires=300&X-Amz-SignedHeaders=host&X-Amz-Signature=b8719d038e4265cbfd3149ba1ab205d64962db8d6cd9ecd112f9259543909800
I bought tickets to Oceanarium for 25$ each. Then I listened to this video and cancelled the tickets. Upon arrival to Lisbon I bought the Lisboa cards. The price was 44 euros for 48 hours and I bought them in the airport the same place from this video. Maybe I did something wrong but the price was not like in the video. Then we went to oceanarium and we only got discount 15% because we had Lisboa cards. So we still had to pay for the ticket.
15% discount for the Oceanarium sounds about right. On our video, at timestamp 3.08, it clearly shows on the screen that we get a 3.75 discount. Sorry to hear that your tickets were more expensive- the prices quoted on our video were what we paid on our visit in February.
Thank you for your video! it is very useful! I am planning to Lisbon in July, debating whether use Lisboa card or bought the tickets in advance. Places we want to go is Pantrao National, Museu Nacional Do Azulejo, Castelo de Sao Jorge, Mosteiro Dos Jeronimos, Museu Nacional Does Coches. I would like to know all these museum, do they have special line for Lisboa card holders or need to get an entrance ticket from the ticketing office. I am worry about the long line up.
From our experience, most of the places, you still get in the same line if you have the Lisboa Card, so it doesn't get you to skip the line. But that is also the case if you buy tickets in advance (except for the castle). So, it's all about whether the cost is worth it for you.
If i purchase the lisboa card 72 hours by online, where to get the card ? Or maybe after purchased online i will get the barcode of the lisboa card and just tap it to the machine wherever i want to go?
We would recommend purchasing the Lisboa Card once you get to Lisbon as there is not one single website that is 'official'. You can buy it at many of the tourist offices around the city. If you're arriving by air, I would recommend buying it at the airport. You don't have to activate it straight away.
Very useful video! One question though, for attractions like the Jeronimos Monastery or the Belem Tower, do I have to somehow reserve a ticket in advance or can I just show up with my Lisboa card?
Hi Rob, thank you for your video. I have a question about the waiting lines? If you have the Lisboa Card do you still have to wait in the regular lines to those who don't have reservation for the attraction? I am visiting Lisboa at the end of June and I know it will be a lot of lines. When you buy the attractions separate, you can reserve the time, that's my main concern, thank you!
Yes that is one issue. At most of the attractions, you have to wait in the normal line. We went in February so it wasn’t a problem, but I can see how it could be in summer
Hi! The Lisboa Card offers a 10 % discount on Pena National Palace and Park. But, it is recommended to buy the tickets for Pena in advance on Internet. Will I be able to use the Lisboa Card ? Thanks!
I would buy the tickets in advance because it can get very busy. This will mean that you won’t be able to use the Lisboa card but it’s a small price to pay. I’d also recommend getting the tickets for when the palace opens so that you are not behind huge queues going around the building.
Hi Rob. I trust you are well. Can you use the Lisboa card to reach Sintra? Can this card be topped up? I plan a 4 night trip, so not sure what to do on the 4th day? Can you help please. Alex
Hi. No, the Lisboa Card does not cover transport to Sintra. However, the cost of the train is something like €3 one way, so it is pretty minimal. The Lisboa Card cannot be topped up. It is a one-off purchase. I guess theoretically, you could buy a 72-hour pass and a 24-hour pass. But what I would recommend is going to Sintra on either your first or last day. By the way, if you need any help with Sintra, we have several videos on the channel about that.
Hi. This is a difficult one because there are already lots of discounts available for over 65s e.g. Belém Tower offers a 50% discount. Unless you want to visit a lot of places, I think it might be best to just buy your tickets separately.
Such a helpful and concise video. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful
Thanks for the Lisbo card advice very helpful. Ps love your t-shirt
Thanks, glad it was useful. Yes, I loved the T-shirt when I saw it on Amazon. Will probably be retiring it soon as it has a small hole 😩
Thank you so much for the info given.
No problem- glad it was helping. Hopefully you’ll have a great time in Lisbon.
Thank you!
Great guide thank you 😊
@shannonstones1018 thank you. glad you found it helpful.
Just returned from Portugal. The card is definitely worth more than the cost if you take advantage of all the perks.
That's what we found anyway.
Im going to Lisbon tomorrow as a solo traveler. Help me roam around the city pls or u know someone i can buddy with.

No, you don’t need a reservation. At some attractions there is a specific line for Lisboa Card/Ticket holders but at others there is no separate line.

Thank you for your video. Did you buy one card for each member of family or one card was for the whole family?
Thanks, glad you found it useful. Unfortunately there are no group cards available and you have to buy one for each member of the family.

Hello, can I skip the line with lisboa card to enter Torre de belem and monaterio de Jerónimos?
Hi. It doesn’t allow you to skip the lines at the entrance, it just saves you money.
Do you have to use for transportation the first time you use the card or I can start with a museum?
No, you can start with whatever you want
Thank you
it is good for the time period from the first time you use it.

Is there a senior discount for transportation?
@@lovedraft As far as I can tell, it doesn't look like there are any senior discounts for the transport card. Or for the Lisboa Card.
thank you
