You deserve all that is distinctive because you are creative
Thank you Ali!!
Yuval
Lucky you enjoy using them I use both and don't care as long as I get a good finish, all the best
Thanks Barry!! No worries, I'm sure I'll be able to put these to good use... probably...
Yuval
Congrats on the win, Yuval! It will be fun to see someone with your vision and creativity use these types of tools to turn with. Looking forward to it! Phil
Thanks Phil!! I'm sure I'll find a good use for them, like opening paint cans and such ;)
Yuval
Congrats on the win..... Definitely a awesome package to win...
Thank you Jimmy! Maybe I'll win a private jet next time (either the airplane or the lathe!! :)
Yuval
Congrats Yuval !! Best of luck with them man ...
Thanks man! I'm sure I'll find a use for them! :)
Yuval
Great win Yuval.👍
All the best keep up the good work.
Thank you Mark!
Yuval
Nice prize Yuval! Look forward to see how you get on with them. Notwithstanding the pointless conflict of traditional v carbide, its simply a question of personal preference and what tool works for you and what does not. I have a set of carbide tools, I dont use them much but they have got me out of trouble a few times. Therefore they remain an option to be deployed when necessary!
Thanks William!! Any tool is a great addition to any shop. You never know which angle or curve would haunt you and the right tool will get you out of trouble ;)
Yuval
Thanks for sharing mate, I’ll be interested in seeing how you get on with your new toys! Congratulations on your win! 😍👍🍺
There's nothing like a few new toys in the shop, but I will have to rethink my tool rack, as I've got no more room for new tools... either some tools will have to go into a dark corner or I'll have to rebuild something. I might be a little too lazy and stoned to build anything so...
Yuval
Congratulations and health to enjoy your new tools.
Thanks Brandon!!
Yuval
Great win Yuval really nice tools i love mine :-)
Thanks hun!! I'm sure I'll enjoy using those!
Yuval
I just asked the weld shop up the road from me to get me some 1/2 square tool steel. I already have the carbide tips, tap, drill bits etc. probably going to make my first carbide tool this weekend.
Good luck Nik! I have a couple of "home made" tools, a carbide among them, but I have to say those easy wood tools sure weigh and feel good and solid in my hands. Also, they are very colorful ;)
Yuval
Nice win! I love my full size tools from them. I personally love my traditional tools too! Whatever works and gets the job done wins for me.
Thanks Brian! I'm sure I'll find a use for these in my shop ;)
Yuval
That's a great package to have won!
Thanks Steve!! It is a nice box, and I love the packing material as well! ;)
Yuval
I've been told the Carbide tools are a lot more user friendly to a beginner turner than the regular tools but they are very expensive here in Aus the midis size tools are $200 each
Wow! I think in Europe they go for about 100 euros each (these are the mid sized set, not the large one). They are simpler to work with (they are basically glorified scrapers, but don't tell anyone I said that...) but like any tool, you can accomplish different things with the same tools depending on your skill level.
Yuval
I'm sure that will throw the cat among the pigeons on the debate, lol.
Probably, but I was always a trouble maker :)
Yuval
Great set of tools Yuval. I love traditional tools but I also love Easy Wood Tools carbides, there is a place for both in anyone’s armoury. Cheers, Jim
Thanks Jim!! I'm sure I'll be able to work out a use for them... Sometimes I have a large coffee in the shop I need something formidable to stir it with ;)
Yuval
that is a very nice prize!! and about the ongoing debate over traditional and these 'modern' tools... you know I have them both and I mix constantly between them, each tool has a purpose and I use them for what they were designed. Especially that diamond shaped detailer, that one is a dream to have!
Have fun with those tools bro!!
Thanks man!! I will start playing with them soon, and when I'll feel comfortable, I'll work them into my on going projects... :)
Nice! Just started learning to use carbides this last year as they are so different to"standard" tools.Hardest thing is remembering which type i have in my hand! I say use what you are comfortable with to do the job in hand!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Alan!! Isn't that is why the handles are color coded, to help all them old turners with their memory issues ;)
Yuval
Your very talented on the lathe, I watched a project that you made using a small light on top that was about 1/2” in diameter and it was battery operated with a built in switch. I’ve looked almost everywhere. Where did you get yours? Thank you.
Thanks Mike!
I got the lights at a local dollar shop, but you can find them on Amazon, they're a clip on reading light.
Yuval
Thanks. Value your opinion and also an "open minded traditionalist" so looking forward to some carbide comparisions. I suspect that you could do a better job with a blunt screwdriver than I could do with either but it all helps!
Eheheh, thanks Mike, I'm sure you're aware I will never use a blunt screwdriver... I'll sharpen it the best I can :)
Yuval
Looking forward to hearing you opinion Yuval. I have the set of EWT and find myself using them quite a bit. Regards from Dallas.
Thanks Gary! I hope I'll find a use for them soon enough! :)
Yuval
Well done Yuval, they certainly look good quality tools & I’m sure you’ll find a use for them alongside your traditional gouges. Personally, I can’t get on with carbide tools, I invested in a set of five, ( really well made, in the UK), it’s down to what you feel comfortable with I guess.
Look forward to seeing how you get on with them.
Regards, Geof
Thanks Geof!! I'm sure I'll find a use for them, I mean, they're tools, they were made to be used, and I try not to neglect any tool in my shop... :)
Yuval
Congrats on winning the carbide tools . I only use traditional tools . Looking forward to getting your opinion on the carbide's .
Thanks Glen! They are out there, making the rounds, we can't discount them without trying. My point of view, as these are mostly glorified scrapers, is that in the right hands, they'll do the job at hand. But you could say that about any tool and situation.
Yuval
Hi Yuval; nice win! Traditional tools for me all the way ;-) but I'm not at war with anybody too ;-) Take care. Marc
Thanks Marc!! You know these wars are only virtual, when we all meet for a beer it's all forgotten :) I'll always be a traditionalist, but I'm sure I'll find a moment or two those would be useful as well!
Yuval
awesome matey but at the end of the day doesn't matter about the tool it is how you get to the end result carbide or not
Exactly!! It's not the tool, but how you use it! My wife keep telling me that, and I'm not sure why.... ;)
Yuval
Congratulations Yuval on winning the tools. I don't think they'll improve your turning as you've already reached perfection. I use both tradition and carbide and just pick the one which suits the occasion. I'm now eyeing a new lathe. I've more interest in that than a car.
Eheheh, thanks Alan! Perfection is far from me, but I do aspire... ;) I'm sure these tools will come in handy, here and there... :)
A new lathe is always a cause for celebration!! Someday, I know, I'll have a big boys lathe and I could start turning the more extreme things I've been wanting to experiment with.
Yuval
Enorabuena estaras contento .dime tu sabes si a España me las mandarian acesorios para tornear me puedes mandar la direcion de correo de esta casa de herramientas gracias un saludo
Thank you Andres! I'm sorry but I don't understand you comment completely and google translate wasn't very helpful...
Yuval
You got to be in it to win it :) Result :)
Eheheh, when all the pieces falling together :)
Yuval
Feh, use what you like, but don't denigrate the choices of others. I use whatever is best suited to the task at hand -- including tools of my own design and construction. Oh, wait -- you can defer the gratification of opening a package of tools for two whole days? :-) Clyde
Clyde, where did I denigrate the choices of others, I'm the most objective person around ;)
Yeah, sadly I'm working and family life didn't allow me the chance to take the time to film the unboxing, so I waited until I could. I'm like that... :)
Yuval
Oh, my, Yuval -- I was unclear. My statement was most certainly not directed at you. It was a declarative statement that I think *all* of us should adhere to. Even me :-) Clyde
The whole “traditional” thing is odd. Surely all “traditional” tools are not the first but are evolutions from the first. If traditional means in use for a long time, carbide will be traditional in time. I suspect I am not the only keen but not especially talented turner whose frequently used tool is 80 grit abrasive! I don’t think there is right or wrong with tool choice except where safety is at risk.
Thanks Mike!! Maybe you noticed, when I talked about the "traditional tools", I corrected my self to "what we call today traditional tools", since of course those are modern versions of actual old tools that were used before mass production have generalized our lives.
