This might possibly be the lowest budgeted console Transformers game in years, but it already looks a ton better than all the gritty realistic ones that have come out. At least to me from a gameplay and aesthetic standpoint anyway...so far.
SaintAlia_of_the_Games Platinum Games, man. They even got the original voice actor for Bumblebee back! And Frank Welker is doing Megatron again!
AnimeKakumeiHD Frank's been voicing Megs for quite a while, actually. Did his voice in the videogames for the first and second movies, TF:Prime, and Galvatron in Age of Extinction.
***** Yup really, we've been deluged with grimdark stuff for a while now with third person shooter gameplay and so-so melee combat. It doesn't help that Michael bay's Transformers was out there doing the grim dark stuff as well(ignoring the 3DS ones and non cel shaded low budget ones of course because those were just bad).
So yeah, aesthetically it stands out, especially from the gen of brown and grey shooters, and gameplay wise it looks to be an actually interesting combat system and not your typical shooty bang. I would say it's your typical hack and slash, but those games are fairly rare nowadays anyway.
And notice I said aesthetically, and not graphics and mentioned the low budget, because graphically(technically speaking) it isn't looking too hot.
The cellshading is a combination of IDW comic and the old cartoons

thehmph1 He probably knows it's cel-shading, he means it was purposefully made to look like a certain series of comics based on Transformers that had amazing art but terrible writing.

This is incredible. The fact that this is modeled after the original 1980s G1 Transformers is awesome !!! The character models are PERFECT, extremely accurate to the G1 series. I love this.

They might not because of it sounding too old. I just acidentily canceled te comment I was writing for this lol. I was saying how they might want to make it more realistic and modern sounding because when you think about it their giant robots so their weapons should sound like each shot is what the gun is instead of a pew pew sound. Cause to be honest people wouldn't take Optimus's and Megatron's guns seriously if two of the most powerful weapons in the game sound weak. That was the case in ROTF which is what I consider a properly good game despite it being a movie game.

+martin evans really fun, a little short, i beat it in around 5 hours on easy. have some replay value because you can keep lvl up your guys and weapons and take it to harder difficulties.
My younger self is squee'ing so hard right now, nearly as much as my 43 year old self (not ashamed either). Looking forward to this more than you know.

***** not as vocoded as THIS was. Optimus sounded all wrong when he said "Take This!" and you can just barely hear Frank Welker underneath Megatron's vocoding.
Also, "come to save the day again I presume?" sounds far more like something Beast Wars Megatron would say.

If Corey Burton voices Shockwave for this, and he sounds close enough to his TFA voice, I will forgive all of these problems.
Matt TooFast4U People have been moaning about this for years now. You guys have to realise Frank Welker is about 70 years old now. His voice has changed to much. I'm sure he said it before about one of the Cybertron games, that he can't properly do Megatron the way he sounded in the 80's. The heavy vocoded voices are to disguise this.
Was anybody else laughing like a madman at how awesome this trailer was? Please tell me I'm not the only one.

The combat looks great! I've never seen a Transformer game this much fun.
Just got it yesterday and I must say it's a very entertaining game which incorporates transformations into attack tactics and it's also necessary to transform to reach certain areas.. There's a lot of nice pointers to the old series too. I've been waiting long for a game that stays true to the original transformers characters and I'm very pleased with the result. :)I even have to say it might be an idea for Hasbro to reboot the series with graphics like this. I'd also like to see more games with these characters. With the original series storylines you'd say there's an abundance of possibilities...

Really when watching this trailer, I feel like when a little kid sitting at front of the tv watching Transformers G1 ;)
Now this is a transformers game I can get behind. Back to the roots.
No darkness and gritty ness like the movies
PlatinumGames = always quality combat. They did a good job with Metal Gear Rising (Just great overall) and Bayonetta 1 and 2 have some of the BEST combo-based combat I've played. It looks like they took most inspiration off Bayo 2, with the ridiculous weapon choices and combos.
dear god YES! i didnt know about this game until just seeing this trailer. as soon as i saw that beautiful Platinum logo i thought, "Oh man, this HAS to be good" not even a quarter into the gameplay and im already sold.
that last Transformers game i had any interest in that actually looked good to me was "Transformers" on the PS2 back in 2004, im pretty sure that was around the time when the newest series looked like an anime.
I never watched the Transformers cartoon series when I was little, but this will more than make up for it! ROBOTS IN CELL-SHADED GLORY!!!

Seeing Megatron's design(and, you know, Devastator) in this trailer makes it seems that Platinum took heavy inspiration from the current Combiner Wars line of toys right now. I don't know what Bumblebee's doing here since he's not part of this line, but as long as we get Dan Gilvezan to voice him again after all these years, I'm good.

I think the price tag is lower than normal to. Three publisher might be tongue in cheek, but the developer tends to make some fun games with a really good vibe. Platinum knows how to style things.
