  • Howdy folks it's me, Isak back here with the most regular uploads I've probably ever had. 3 videos in 1 month would be a record letalone 2 weeks.
Moving on - this was a BIG episode for getting things on track. I finally got my engine and subframe drop 100% complete, I got all 4 wheels back on, and it's ready for the final piece of the puzzle. What's that?! Watch the video and find out!
Shot on my phone and a Sony a7iii. I should use the latter more, I know.
Less music this time because more talking and less need for it.

Best vid on this conversion yet. Thanks a ton.
Also, i think that foglight grille is aftermarket. Pretty rare too.
I remember seein em a decade or so ago.

      Thanks man!
Yeah I've seen the circular shaped ones before but never these oval shaped ones. I've fallen in love with it and love how many questions I get about it

Do you know if it has to be a OEM 97 01 prelude caliper, or can I order a aftermarket one? I was thinking of buying the powerstop red ones. I just wanted to be sure if they will bolt up or no. Thank you.

If it is for the 97-01 prelude it fits. Some of the swanky high dollar race-style aftermarket monobloc (like the big wilwood) may have issues hitting stuff, and some lack the parking brake mechanism. In general, the aftermarket oem-style are fine. Critical dimensions are the spacing from bracket to rotor, which should not change with different calipers.

Sorry for the late reply! I went with OEM calipers since I was sure about fitment. Honestly, larger would probably rub on a 15" wheel, but I can't say for sure. 16" wheels are used to clear larger calipers up front so perhaps the same solution rear.

did you have to do anything with the abs? saw some video on the conversion and guy said you need to disable abs which i find hard to believe. and what's the purpose of mounting the bleeder upright not possible to bleed upside down with fluid in a rubber hose?

I have the standard model 2001, non-sport. No ABS on mine (thankfully).
The upright bleeder was purely for the sake of if I had an issue with my brakes offroad, it'd be significantly easier to bleed them (say on a hill, offcamber, not steady ground etc.) I wanted it to be a straightforward process to bleed it.
It's possible to bleed it otherwise, but you can't keep the calliper bolted up and bleed it as you would any other car.
Unfortunately, despite making several iterations of a bracket that would pull the handbrake while flipped without binding, my handbrake isn't effective enough at all. I've since replaced the calipers and handbrake cable, run them the upside down method and no luck.
Take from that what you will. My on road braking is great but handbrake is awful
