Nick, I'm very glad I signed up for the extended version! You're a great example of being resourceful and accomplishing tasks. Great to see how you do it! Not to mention your creativity. I liked your first 6x17 pano shot, by the way, the Mexico insurance building flanked by the tall saguaro and the tall "hey, we're here!" flags. The red building and all is over-the-top compared to your normal style, but it's a cool shot! I was also glad to help pay for how much I've learned from your online videos. Though, I don't shoot film, it's still all been interesting and inspiring. Perhaps you should tell people how much work and how many hours went into making this video. Only those who watch the four hours to the end will know. I hope you are able to market this somehow to recoup all you put into it, and so you can keep on doing these. It's great to be a part of your unique adventure! God bless!
again superb. I wouldn't shoot film. It can be special, medium format esp. But too many if's and but's. I can't do my own color. BW is easy but why ? My digital files easier to see, no fluffing surprises. Polaroid a bad word for me! My country was banned from buying Polaroid! I cheered. Different look to my film. Expensive and wasteful. I taught Polaroid workshops in Canada.! I was never happy with results. SX-70! My old Rolleiflex negatives printed 6x6" were so beautiful. Still my standard. your work Nick is great! Lots for folks to learn. Never fall short in presentation of one's work.Bravo!
Loved this two part series. Lot of work goes into this. You are a very patient photographer. Love the ice machine image, but as I could see the sun setting and that other person showed up for ice, I was like “hurry up” take the shot! Lol
I enjoyed the original trailer so much I purchased the four-hour version, although so far I've only watched the "behind the glass" edition at the end of that! :) Looking forward to enjoyig the whole thing. The Ice Shop photo here is awesome!
Although the first day was not successful, the expedition is a success. Give an idea, start a trip, search for a photo. That's a successful mission. THIS IS THE REAL ADVENTURE OF PHOTOGRAPHY! Thank you.
Nick! You are one of the only creators (and only photographer) I genuinely love to sit down with a hot cup of tea and watch. I'd love the zine+video combo, but the postage to Australia is MORE than the zine itself. Postage comes to $50AUD which is more or less what a photography book would cost here. crying emoji.
There is nothing quite like a night in Gila Bend! Just kidding! About 8 years ago I spent well over 100 nights at the Space Age Lodge in Gila Bend while overseeing a job on the nearby Barry M. Goldwater Range! Sunsets in Gila Bend rarely disappoint for a good photo opportunity. Nice video...enjoyed as always!
Oh wow, 100 days at the Space Age place? That had to be a bit of an endurance test. I ate at the restaurant a couple summers ago and probably won't try to follow that up 99 more times.
It's been a while since I visited, but you're up to standards, thank God. The story of the lonesome photo-artist is still captivating. That said, I can't help wondering, you being an architecture photographer professional, if you didn't miss an opportunity for a 6x17 of the Copper Sands Motel (in the right light of course). Maybe not, but there was a couple brief flashes of the building that looked intriguing. Love the show... keep going, don't stop,
Great shots! I know it's quite the drive but you should make your way out towards the east side of Phoenix (Suprrstition wilderness through Superior or Globe) lots of pretty desert and superior/Miami/globe is FULLLLL of old mining town buildings
Great quality of everything within your videos. God, so refreshing to see such an effort put in each composition in your videos in RUclips. I was wondering what kind of microphone gear you are using for recording? Thanks! And wish you the best.
Reading Stephen King horror stuff before crashing out might be detrimental to your mind the following morning when making important decisions. Good luck, nice pics.
Purchased the extended play and Zine. This is neat. But damned buddy, you are so hard on yourself! That was worth it. What a neat trip. The last episode is really good too. I'm glad I bought it.
Well, you sure did pick the garden spot of the universe to get those cool images! Good thing you weren't there in August as it would melt your camera, much less the film..... Another awesome outdoor video. Keep 'em coming Nick....
Hey Nick, now that you got that geared head, would you like to share it with us in more detail? Model, functions, why that model etc, it would be interesting.
Hey Nick. Thanks for what you do. Out here in photography land and am short on inspiration, it helps to see you just continue to push through the crap and do what you were made to do. All the best to you and keep on keepin on!
Saw the trailer, forgot to order the 4hrs extended hot talk about metering… take my money, I‘m in! Love your work and as a 6x17 owner I want to understand how to Meter by listening to your 4hrs episode 1
Nice series Nick…always something new! BTW I have the same Yeti 500 you had in the room…nice compact and powerful little unit. Keep them coming Partner…be safe! Cheers..
Love that ice station shot - timeless, that's the point though isn't it 😊, also the motel sign quite a difference between the 2nd and 3rd shot but it 😊works
I have lost count of how many similar 2 star motels I've stayed at between working for a touring band and then my own photo road trip adventures. Oddly, I stayed at what ostensibly should be a dump near Bryce Canyon a few nights ago and had a really good sleep. Then at a much nicer place, tossed and turned. Go figure. I'm never going to look at that ice/water place the same again next time I pass through Gila Bend.
I love watching your videos. The calmness and peace of the landscapes you photograph and your style of work I enjoy so much. Like Ben Horne, there is something special about your videos, thank you
good video, but in the hotel with glasses you look like Drew from phase One !!, and what you call this camera "texas Leica", what is it really, as there doesn't look like any oil on it to me.
I wanna put you on some diazapam for one of these field days, lol. Great stuff - you don't give yourself enough credit - great videography and photography, both!
I see from earlier comments that smart people have signed up for the full version-me too-earlier adopter. Yet, it's great to get another quick dose of the same wisdom from the trail. The polaroid of the sign is a great example where sometimes an excellent subject is right outside your door.
i have a question, at the last secen where you are pulling up to your drive way, there's a cut, is that specificly to avoid the video tripod showing up on the car's paint's reflection? another one is at 11:15 in the video you were sitting beside the car and the driver side door was open, is it open because you want to avoide the video camera being in frame? :)
You really are the best thing on RUclips. This is like crack for photographers. I don’t even shoot film, I just love watching you do it. Cheers Nick!
Thank you, my man!
Well I had lunch plans, but Nick dropped a new video, so…
While in Gila Bend, you missed a popular, old motel named SPACE AGE MOTEL. It has a flying saucer on top of it.

Haha, same here. I moved the mouse to see the final image and .. started breathing again..😬😆

Watching Nicks video is like watching a mini movie. The story telling is really good
I enjoyed the original trailer so much I purchased the four-hour version, although so far I've only watched the "behind the glass" edition at the end of that! :) Looking forward to enjoyig the whole thing. The Ice Shop photo here is awesome!
Interesting to see a 17 minutes condensed version after watching the whole four hours edition. Provides a good feeling how much editing work this is.
I’ll def be buying the rest of the episodes. BTW Nick, 11/22/63 is one of my favorite books. How’d you like it?
Great as usual. That icehouse is a masterpiece.
I totally agree and the Ice house print is on my Christmas list. Or the Arca Swiss Cube Nick uses---heck, both!
Although the first day was not successful, the expedition is a success.
Give an idea, start a trip, search for a photo. That's a successful mission. THIS IS THE REAL ADVENTURE OF PHOTOGRAPHY! Thank you.
I m french and i enjoy very much
This video. You bring me to true

@@johnchedsey1306 The Italian restaurant in Gila Bend is really good...but yeh...I hope to never repeat my extended stay in Gila Bend.

I don't know why but I liked the first overexposed picture.
I don't know how you do it Nick, but time flies when I watch your videos.
Great shots! I know it's quite the drive but you should make your way out towards the east side of Phoenix (Suprrstition wilderness through Superior or Globe) lots of pretty desert and superior/Miami/globe is FULLLLL of old mining town buildings
I've always wondered...why do you prefer a shorter cable release? I'm partial to a longer one, mine being a 20" braided release.
Great quality of everything within your videos. God, so refreshing to see such an effort put in each composition in your videos in RUclips. I was wondering what kind of microphone gear you are using for recording? Thanks! And wish you the best.

OMG that ice building photo, man... so nice. Would have it on my wall for sure.
Hey! What is sir Carver doing with those developed large formate films, I mean does He covering 'em with something to protect or whatever? 6:24
Purchased the extended play and Zine. This is neat. But damned buddy, you are so hard on yourself! That was worth it. What a neat trip. The last episode is really good too. I'm glad I bought it.
This man is like, insanely attractive
Well, you sure did pick the garden spot of the universe to get those cool images! Good thing you weren't there in August as it would melt your camera, much less the film..... Another awesome outdoor video. Keep 'em coming Nick....
I'm thinking that the film being old may need more than the development recommended time and that the 1st or 2nd exposure would work with that. ??
The exposure on that icehouse pic was just absolutely bang-on. Good stuff my man.
Hey Nick, now that you got that geared head, would you like to share it with us in more detail? Model, functions, why that model etc, it would be interesting.

Oye! What tripod legs and head you runnin, love the height you’re able to get and noticed you’re always in pretty windy conditions
the first photo was kind of cool, could be a bit of an abstract print.
0:45 the way those hooks arent in the shower curtain GRRRAAAHHH
Saw the trailer, forgot to order the 4hrs extended hot talk about metering… take my money, I‘m in! Love your work and as a 6x17 owner I want to understand how to Meter by listening to your 4hrs episode 1
Don't know why you don't have views in the 7 figures with your type if work.
Ok I gotta ask, the guitar music....who is it and where can I get it?
Lovely Chrono
tip for sleeping in the wind in a tent or car... earplugs.
You really should have taken your dog on your trip.
Hey man, I was wondering where you bought that hat?
man somehow i wished the video ended with that yup and a few seconds with that image
Great Video Thank you
Just listened to that book… good stuff.
The balance in that ICE building shot was perfection.
Simply beautiful work
Need more photos like the laudramat photo.

Love it!! And where did you get that Ansel Adams hat??? I've been lookin for that exact hat for years.
Nick. Is that a modified bull barrel 10/22? Looks great!
Thanks for sharing, fantastic shot of that ice-machine. Makes up for 2*Motel beds ...
I love watching your videos. The calmness and peace of the landscapes you photograph and your style of work I enjoy so much. Like Ben Horne, there is something special about your videos, thank you
Nick, I'm glad you did the third shot of the Copper Sands Motel & Phone Booth. I really like it.
Icehouse👌🏻
good video, but in the hotel with glasses you look like Drew from phase One !!, and what you call this camera "texas Leica", what is it really, as there doesn't look like any oil on it to me.
15:26 Killer.
I just drove through Gila Bend today and saw that box. How cool. What an amazing eye
I wanna put you on some diazapam for one of these field days, lol. Great stuff - you don't give yourself enough credit - great videography and photography, both!
Love the ice house shot! My daughter lives on the eastern edge of Tucson and that section of Saguaro National Park is terrific for photography!
lovely shot of the ice factory ... but no Kettle at the motel... skin flints . Keep the vids coming they are really enjoyable.. Cheers from Wales
Fantastic 2 episodes ;) thank you all the way from Denmark !
Certainly is ‘No Country for old men’ , Excellent as Ever 👍👍
Great stuff, as always, Nick. That ice stand composition at the end is one of my favorites of yours.
I bought and watch the full series. Worth every penny.
15:10 ❤

Great series. Loved the ice house. Did you consider shooting the Space Age Inn while you were in GB?
You mean there really ARE places with names like Gila Bend?
Random question: what chronograph are you wearing?
first 🎉
As always, I'm amazed by the patience you have to find the right shot.
You are better than most of the actors in Hollywood. Love the hat.
Yes! 😊
I enjoy seeing you camp and prepare food. Adds more variety
Love the Ice hut photo. How much just for the print?
Nick, I am back on part 2 for details on the hat.
Love the mood of your videos a lot. Fits together very well
I really like the first overexposed shot.
Great video Nick. Love the ice/water hut. Perfect!
love the video as always
Another great one
Beautiful work
1:57 little curious about reasons not to use microwave 🤔
Probably just the process. How he did it is more enjoyable than pressing a button.
wow that pano
👍
