You guys should check out mewithoutYou, sort of similar to La Dispute. Although they're a Christian band, listening to the majority of their music it's not overt in any way. And for the record I'm an atheist so if their message were pushy I wouldn't be recommending them. :P

they keep it raw and its just fucking perfect.
Their sound is so different it used to give me a headache, but I'm pretty much obsessed with them lately. So many songs are so emotional and raw you can't help but make them personal. I relate to a lot of their music now more than when I was 18 and first heard them...
The beautiful thing is that there are a lot more bands that can relate to everyone who has ever felt hurt.
Wow, I almost can feel how much passion they throw, especially the singer.

This band has had such a huge influence on me. I've been listening to them for only half a year, but their lyrics make me feel like I know them on a personal level. I learned more from La Dispute than from anyone else.
They're all pretty nice dudes.
jordan is one of my favourite vocalists ever. how many artists have this kind of raw, crippling passion?
I'm not too sure on what defines the plethora of genres these days, but these guys carry, in my opinion, the perfect post hardcore punk sound.
That drummer is seriously... the best thing that has ever happened to my ears.
The first time i heard them, I was 16 and thought it sounded weird, but then I started listening more and just fell in love with their sound! So many memories while listening. the lyrics are so "deep" but so beautiful. My personal favorite song is Andria!
when i hear his voice it always sounds so sincere and passionate. i always imagine him in his own world spilling out his guts into the mic but he looks so emotionless in here
I love the instrumentals, the drummer kicks ass. His playing sounds really fun!

he might not be "singing" as most of you would expect vocals to sound, but talking/screaming in a specific tempo takes skill...
Spoken word requires a good rhythmic sensibility in the same way rap does, although plenty of people try to argue that rapping takes no "skill" either (I like to call those people who have never tried it before).
His singing kinda resembles a higher pitched les claypool

Writing songs have always come easy to me like on the spot. But when I tried rap circle I find it hard I find myself stumbling on the right word or slurring it. Lol I know what your talking about
Besides La dispute being fabulous, my favorite part about audio tree live is them shouting when they’re done. Makes me tear up!!! ❤❤❤

one of the things i love the most about la dispute is how they all look so normal, like any one of my friends.
I remember when I saw them the first time live at a small show in Ann Arbor, MI at the Sigma Phi Metal Frat. They were headlining, I bought a t-shirt and their album at the time. The reason why I loved the band so much, was because I previously went to a show and saw a similar band as theirs at the time. The band was called Thriller....and Jeremy Bolm was a backup vocals/guitarist. He is now the lead singer of Touche Amore. I love how Touche Amore and La Dispute end up doing a lot of tours together and making collabs.
LA Dispute are breaking music for me. I listen to everyone else and I'm like meh, you're not LA Dispute, be quiet.

I don't get why people don't like his voice. I'm a classically trained singer and he actually has a lot talent as far as choosing what times are and are not appropriate for strong breath support.

La Dispute blends post-hardcore and spoken word vocals. The frontman started out writing short stories and poetry before he was in the band. And yes, it is a derivative of screaming. Compare them to say Touché Amoré and you'll see how much just toning down the vocal distortion makes a difference. What I love is how diverse it is, changing from melodic to spoken to yelled/screamed vocals. The vocal technique is absolutely superb

And this live recording is just perfect. This drum sound is just fucking amazing. So light and still retaining the attack and detail. It fits so well. The mix is perfect.
