She makes a good point about being able to dream. Fashion is important right now, to lift our spirits. Even if it’s from a thrift store and not Tory Burch.

Ever shop your closet? Try it. I’ve found cool things with tags. Tags? Ridiculous.
Vintage Laura Ashley at the back of the closet, summer jumpers and dresses for fall that look great with Wellies.

Keep the faith. It will get better. I read classics. Cut pictures from fav mags for my dream book. Rearrange the spice cupboard. Call my elderly mom a lot. Text the kids and send them photos of what I am doing. Cooking. Sending books I already read to friends. Send a book around. Each person reads and signs it with a note about how they liked the book. The 20th person sends it back to you to read the comments. People also do this with art, each one fills a page and the last person sends it back to the originator. Be your own best friend. : )

Alyson Mel, healthy attitude. I think on the positive side, this has been a reset for a lot of folks. As an artist and a vendor, I rely upon the spring/summer festival season to earn my bread, and missing that does make me anxious. But on the plus side, I’m getting a lot of art done on a personal level. Painting murals on my own walls and doors that I’ve never made the time to do before; and finally creating art pieces that I’ve had brewing in the back of my mind for a long time. I ask myself how I want to come out of this, and the answer is “creatively.”

Careful saying “too big to fail.” I love fashion, however at this time it is not at the forefront. It is crystal clear that buying clothes now with nowhere to wear them is a fool’s folly.

Joni Heisenberg I don’t think all fashion brands will survive the pandemic, but I do think fashion as an industry will still exist post-COVID. It will (hopefully) be a better industry, weeding out the garbage, and incorporating improvements (sustainability, diversity and inclusion, etc). Adapt or die, basically. But I do agree that buying clothes with no where to go is a foolish thing. I’ve been focusing on essentials in my wardrobe.
