I have that phobia too, idk I’m just very skeptical of structures and my distribution of weight on floors that aren’t the first floor, why am I like this 🤣
Great scape. Few things. That ada soil, along with almost all plant substrates will releases ammonia into the water for the first month or so, and no filter (cycled), will be able to counteract that as the set up is so new. Those stones are known to increase water hardness too, which crystal shrimp hate. I love the channel and watch all the time, and I’m sure you know what you’re doing. Thought I’d mention it in the event you’re having shrimp deaths. Crystals are much more sensitive than like cherry or blue shrimp. I found out the hard way what plant substrate can do, lol. Blessings my man. Thanks for the content.
Then it will give you the inspiration to have new ideas when watching MDs new builds.I’ve lots of new ideas going around in my head..I use the same fish store as MD to get my fish.great place..MAIDENHEAD AQUTICS...WELLINGTON...I’m going to start breeding all kinds of different fish..
Thank you for showing us the 'real' steps you take to set up the tanks. It was nice to know that you actually glue and weigh plants down and I always wondered how you move your tanks once completed. I love your channel and have watched forever but have failed in my own small tank because I didn't know about these little hacks lol
I love Saturday mornings! Pop out of bed, then drink a nice cup of tea while watching MD's newest video. Well, not quite, feed the dog, let him out, let him in, let him out, let him in...😜. Hopefully before the cup of tea is cold I get to watch the whole video ☕🐕🐟
I really loved your little subtropical fish paradise in you garden shed as an example of what people can achieve when they're really into a hobby - but it's quite obvious that your new fish room(s) give you a lot more options! It looks very nice.
"Java fern and Anubias are pretty tough" -- I'll say. I once was trimming up a tank and tossed some Anubias in a bucket to move to a storage tank later. And forgot. When I finally remembered them at the back of the room, all the water had evaporated but about an inch and they'd been in near-total darkness for months. They were fine. XD
I always love your aquarium videos, MD. You have an amazing artistic flair and your tanks don't just house happy, healthy fish, shrimps, etc; they are works of art via your placement of rocks, driftwood, plants, and soil. :)
I think it would look cool if you took a complete line of one of the racks and landscape the line to look like one big tank. Basically the landscape of one tank would flow into the other and would give the illusion of one tank.
Thanks for the great video! Huge fan of nano tanks. I am always amazed at the comments where they ask questions that you clearly addressed during this video 😂 tell them to please re-watch.
If there are a lot of people that come up to see your grow out tanks it may be useful to put your logo on the door, so it is easier for them to find it and give you a sub
Another great video ! I love them, I find them very relaxing to watch. I love how you pay attention to every single detail. It really shows. You are meticulous right down to cleaning the glass & doing a background. I see beautiful tanks with beautiful fish & scapes but the glass is dirty. Looks horrible ! I am constantly wiping my tanks down, including the lids. I have backgrounds also. Another pet peeve of mine. I hate to see the cords. Anyway, all the attention you pay to details really shows - They are ab solutely gorgeous !!!
I love these shrimp tanks scapes. You should try and make it a Saturday video each week for a month or say for the rest of them. Excellent though MD. 👌
looks great. i have crystal red shrimp and they do really well in my soft tap water with active substrate as well. no need for chasing parameters. one comment though that africana aquasoil even though less nutrient rich will still have an ammonia spike, so you are taking a bit of a gamble putting in the shrimp in so early
Another great video MD! I was thinking about using the elephant stone in my next scape! Thanks for helping me make the decision! I was wondering how it looked under water! Can’t wait to see what you do with the Asian theme tank when you rescape it!
Hey MD, you should post videos of tanks after they are completed! maybe just set a camera up recording while you edit videos and just post the whole raw footage of aquariums that were set up in the past! would be cool to get to watch the aquariums and see how everything is doing after it has been set up :)
I so want you to make a shell dwellers tank md they are so funny to watch could make a great tank with rocks and plants for them I'd even send you some neolamprologus multifasciatus shell dwellers for the tank
If you want them to breed, keep them on a dennerle shrimpking soil or an ADA amazonia ver. 2. Those are really active in lowering the ph and kh but aren’t so nutrient rich!
Hello! I just had a little question: grey stones don't increase the GH of the water too much? I only use dragonstone for the crystal red, otherwise it modifies the parameters... thanks!
When you do those bundles of stem plants, do you ever end up un-doing them and replanting back to single stems? I have some green Cabomba that is not doing so well as single stems ... they don't stay planted, never seem to get good root formation, etc. I may put them in bunches like you have.
I've done the bundle method and it work well with them. I found the key was to not crowd them with other plants and allow them to speed out their stems. I'm guessing the leave can better photosynthesize and less chance for algae growth.
So do you use treated tap water or water thats been ready for weeks as you put the shrimp in after filter was in only an hour x also what water conditioner do you use x
I've used the tropical, api and easy life are all have decent plant ferts, in terms of food nt labs and hakari foods are good too. Nice gift, what shrimp are you getting?

Dont shrimps need a matured tank with some biofilm on the hardscape? Just wondering the instant scaping approach even with the magic water :)
I think because his plants and sponge filter were in other tank there is enough to keep the shrimp going
Yea, I guessed so too :) thanks
Shrimp can eat bio film. They can also eat shrimp food too.
The idea of having a mature tank is mainly for water stability.
New nutrient rich substrate will leach more before tapering off. Plants that have been uprooted or plant trimmings take a while to recover before they start growing again. So the amount of nitrates they pull out hasn't stabilize.
I'm sure MD knows what he's doing though so he can manage it.

What is that plant weight, lead? Wouldn't that be an issue for fish/shrimp?
