  • At the end of Calle Obispo (Bishop Street) in Old Havana (Havana (La Habana Vieja), Cuba is Floridita or El Floridita
This historic bar and restaurant has been open since 1817. Then, it was known as La Piña de Plata (The Silver Pineapple).
In the 1930s, the frozen daiquiri was invented here.
Today, the bar is popular with tourists who line up outside before opening. One of the regulars of El Floridita was Ernest Hemingway, an American novelist who lived for a time just down the street at Hotel Ambos Mundos.

That's Rollo, my favorite bartender. He gave me lessons in how to make the perfect mojito.

Drinks are weak. Double check what you had before paying; they tend to add stuff to your bill that you did not drink or eat.

Fantastic but the plastic straws have to go.

Cuba is years behind on banning plastic I would guess

Yes that’s got to be Cuba’s biggest problem not poverty poor housing or hunger it’s the plastic straws

@@Snookchaser007 I've been to Cuba. Hunger is not an issue -- food is plentiful and affordable in the markets. No one is homeless like you see in the US cities. Hunger WAS a problem in the 90s but not today.
Some houses are definitely crumbling and in disrepair, though. But that's also the case in tons of rural counties and inner cities in the US...
I'd say Cuba's bigger issue is the suppression of free speech. Plus the crippling embargo, which isn't issued by Cuba itself but by the US.
