- Gordon Freeman is late for work! He starts his regular day at the Black Mesa facility as he usually does. "They usually delay these things an hour late anyways." He tells himself. As he takes a deep breath and puts on his HEV suit, a music can be heard in the background. Odd, but Gordon doesn't care. The funky Klaxon Beat (actual name of the song) fuels Gordon's need for speed!

I've always wanted to make a hack called "Half Life: Miserable Day" where the test fails but doesn't allow any Xen creatures in, it just breaks all the equipment and Gordon has to go and rescue all the trapped scientists from environmental hazards, etc. More like a puzzle game.
How much you need to make this a reality?

Imagine the live action film of Half-Life when Gordon ‘jumps down half a lift shaft and dies horrifically’.
The moment Freeman touched the HEV suit, he felt an astounding power inside him, the suit injected tons of adrenaline and played a banger in his ears.
Freeman, in this moment, learned to bhop. Going at an unimaginable speed, he surprised the shit out of the employees.
since gordon is implied to be incredibly skilled and tactical and also a pretty damn smart guy and even permitted access to an hev suit, it honestly would make sense for him to find out a way to bhop

Unironically so pissed that klaxon beat or some sort of remake of it weren't in black mesa (hl1 remake).
Black Mesa just sucks regardless.
Black Mesa is superior in every way especially the musical aspect, even though that one is the most subjective. The BM OST actually makes the suit feel badass, the klaxon beat was ridiculous and didn’t fit the atmosphere at all, BM ost is far more emotional. As a game BM is far better in every way though, take off the nostalgia goggles, BM had all the time in the World to look at HL‘s flaws and fix them, of course the game is gonna be better. It‘s basically the same as the old one except all the flaws of the original one have been analyzed and fixed plus better graphics
@@deft3597 I think Klaxon beat fits with the game's atmosphere, its cheesy 90's early 2000's music for a cheesy 90's early 2000's game, like a B horror movie. Plus black mesa could've remade klaxon beat to be less cheesy, or included a motif referencing the song, to appreciate fans of the original game, and I think saying hl1 was supposed to have no cheese and be a straight horror is discounting a lot of the intentional comedy like the scientist voices and interactions you see, hl2 a game made much later with a better budget and technology that could've easily took a much harsher horror tone, and though it has some moments you could call horrific and the world is a bit depressing, thee characters I'd say are generally upbeat and participating in cartoonish antics as early as the first mission with lamarr.

In half life, we are limited not by the speed which we can move but how quickly doors can open for us.
