Horst is so mindful of his words. Never disrespects any brand or product no matter what it is. Stays objective and factual, that's why his opinion is valuable.
@Santiago Franco Can you point out what you consider a higher quality blended than golden label? I mean, just to justify your strong point of view.
@Santiago Franco You still didn't answer my question.
@Santiago Franco "Everything after red label" WOW, you have serious problems understanding orderings, apparently. There are other whiskies beyond JW, just saying. It's OK, you have self esteem issues, you win BIG CHAMP. Mommy loves you.
Loser. Your opinion is not fact.
Thatshow ED
You are correct Sir 👍
Horst's face at 10:29 tells you everything you need to know
LMFAO yup!!
Love that guy - his face portrays "this is pure shit!"
SHARP COMMENT LOL
Hahahaha
Ben’s face at 10:42 is funny too
I love these videos with your son. Father and son bonding over whisky. Splendid.
First time me and my friends drank this bottle I remember we jumped over a school fence to play football around 1 am lol
i'm drinking the red alone so i turned on youtube and tried them with these folks. i agree for the cheap whisky, it's worth it to do the black as a minimum baseline. much easier to drink.
Watching his Black label review got me excited to try it. I enjoyed it and these reviews.
When he said his name at the start the captions say "going horse cleaning" lol
I heard the same lol
hahahaaha hello horse
I used to really dislike this blend, but after coming back to this one a few years later, I've actually come to like it quite a bit. Quite nice on the rocks...
Greetings from Newfoundland, Canada! Great work guys! Horst, you are quite funny!
Horst, you and your son are a joy to watch.
Like the two-person interaction. Keep up the good work!
Your like 21 year royal salute and your son is like red label
Wow! I never thought I'd see the day that you would do Johnny Walker Red. But I get it. :)
The Famous Grouse is good but I can't seem to find it around my area. I also love Speyburn 10 but that's even harder to find. All that said I settled for JW Red this weekend and with a few drops of water it ain't bad at all.
Lovely on the rocks, I can’t get enough of the stuff.
Sounds like you pulled a Louis van Gaal at the end there, caught me by surprise lol Good review as usual
Sir Winston Churchill drank this!
It was much better back then I've been told.
Screw Winston Churchill
@@sfitzpatrick1697 screw you
@@sfitzpatrick1697 oh come on.!!! The chruchill connection is a bit of history about this whiskey..
Look at what we have in common. We are all here and we all like whiskey, end of.
Winson's drink was martini, very dry.
Getting back RED LABEL.. my initial bottle to start my foreign blend before starting ISLAY single malts..
I love seeing experts taste the more pedestrian whiskies!
I thought this was going to be the JW red rye finish then!! Please review this new release!
Have you tried a few drops of water?
Its aged at least 3 years. (Printed very small on the back label)
i like the smokiness, but the after taste isnt too pleasant--it tends to hang at the back of ur tongue. honestly isnt that bad. yes, its better as a mixer, but if you always drink ur liquor neat and want something cheap, red label is a decent choice.
thank you for another great video! liked to see both of you on the same video (although I think the single person video has more value, but this was good for a change). keep up the great work!
Where can we in the United States purchase your whiskey glasses? I've watched your videos for a long while and seen them and tried to find them online. I cannot however:(. I would love a set of them!
Sam Wilcox, that's because those glasses were designed by Horst and made especially for him.
actually he sell this glasses only in his german online store without shipping in other countries. You have to know someone over there wich buy it and ship over seas...
Lovely review about my favorite drink .. Dear Ben and Dear Horst...
The nose...look at Horst's expression at 9:00. Geez.
It'd be interesting for you guys to do some blind tastings
Could you please do a review of the Naked Grouse in English please?
Great...now I'll never be able to watch a movie without thinking about what direction they're walking. :D
bet you forgot all about that,,and here i am reminding you again lol
Just a reminder ;)
Thanks for the review
I drank red label now . It's like Jack Daniels no7 the tatse as well as the smell . Have anyone feel like the same ???
First video in a long time without the quick preview at the start. Might say something about what they thought of the whisky haha
You guys are great...
Currently testing it .similar to black label but less smokiness and less spicy
Red label is the Johnnie you drink with a mixer only. Personally, I only drink the double black on the rocks in the Johnnie Walker range.
It is exeptable. A bit to strong on the leathery side, but it is good for mixes.
I am drinking that now thats.my favorite
are u still alive? :P
jack ali red label is for poor people. Hope you are ok, once you come above poverty line try something nice. Best of luck
Sebastian Shaw do u think urself rich?
Kunal Sehrawat yes, not everybody comes from like a shitoon like you
OK. But for me Chivas Regal 12 is the best entry level whisky and very friendly...
Can someone please tell me why this whisky does not have a proper cork, instead its screw cap, its it because its a bad whisky for the money? :/ if so i am sad because I like Johnnie Walker Red Label
Great whisky as an alternative to a single malt if you cannot afford the best. I drink it regurlarly mixed with a dram of water.
Horst, You're JW King George 5th. Thank you.
I just found that out the other night it's on there though if you have problems reading you should use glasses to find it but it's on there sometimes you need to use a flashlight cuz the writing is really dim and small but it's there
It's not meant to be drank in that way. It is supposed to be mixed with coke, ice, ginger ale or whatever you like to mix whiskey with.
A lot of single malt whiskeys which cost much more would disappear if you add a teaspoon of water.
I must say I haven't yet run into a single malt that doesn't hold up after one teaspoon of water to a "standard" pour of 3-4 cl, but then again I have tasted only a small fraction of them.
@@pultsari9036 I think he ment a lot of blended whisky
Red should only be used as a mixer period.
Thanks ;) wanted to comment to say that too.
That's right bro.
There are much better scotch mixers... mentioned JB, vat69, grouse and one of the best dedicated mixing whisky american acetone aka Jim Bim. To name a few, do yourself a service don't buy it.
Good choice try some cheaper single malts and jw black label
haha! Just had a discussion with my roomy about this...agreed!
Taxes here in India are so bad on alcohol, this bottle costs now $30 for 750 Ml bottle
Burnt Rubber is spot on 11:21
I like Benedikt, he is witty and funny, but as he ages, I hope he gets a bit of his father Horst's respect for the Red Label!
Actually there is an age statement on the bottle it's just in very small writing on the back I don't know exactly where on the back you have to find it but it's in very small lettering like I said it says aged for at least 3 years so that whiskey actually is age for at least three years before they put on the shelves
Sometimes you have to use a flashlight to see it but it's on there who's got two left its in real real small lettering literally so if you're hard of seeing use glasses not to be offencive just putting all statement out there
The Red Label is for those who want an inexpensive whisky for mixing cocktails. It is not a sipping whisky. Since I enjoy good whisky neat, I stick to the Black Label, Green Label, and the occasional Blue Label.
Green Label is my personal fave of the JWs. Best taste for money IMO. While I feel JWBlue is great, it's not worth the price IMO, whereas Green definitely is.
SonnyB63 Red Label and Coke tastes great. Green Label is a great sipping whisky; good bang for your buck.
I can sip on this all day long very nice and at £16 a bottle a bargain its the only whisky under £20 I am able to drink straight too.
In Australia Johnny Red, if it's on special, is usually around $45+ for a 700ml
holy crap. that's crazy. that is ca. 28 €. wow. is that all because of import? or taxes? - in denmark you'd get it for 90 DKK (12 €) on offer, otherwise ca. 120 DKK (16 €). same in germany.
@@AtticAurel I just bought one at aldi for 9,99
A really good blend for the money i would say
Watching reviews after buying a bottle xD. Nice job me... It's shit for sipping, but actually, it works rather well for in some coke!
To the experienced whisky drinker this is pretty unimpressive. As a money making product for Diagio it's outstanding. I would also add that there are a number of malt whisky distilleries that owe their existence to Johnnie Walker and for that reason we should be happy for its ongoing popularity.
Thank you for your video, I am currently working on some bss marketing plan for this selling online, miserable as hell. lol
I've only ever had one bottle of this - about 5 years ago - but I thought it was decent value for money. Better than most cheap blends.
100% agree I don't even mix this, perfectly happy drinking it straight.
back in the 88-90's it tasted better and even had the same color as jwb ,light amber gold not the redish copper coloring you find in all brands today
I normally drink bourbon, but in my quest to discover other whisky, I picked up a small 200ml bottle of Johnnie Walker Red Label. Cheap, entry level Scotch for a first timer. I couldn't believe how much I loved it! The sweet smokiness was like an orgasm in my mouth. If cheap Scotch is this good, I can't wait to see how amazing the high quality stuff is. I will be going back to my liquor store for a full size bottle of Red Label, as well as a bottle of 12 year Dalmore and several vintages of Glenfiddich I wanna try. Any other suggestions? I really love the smoky flavor, and want to try others like it.
Or try Lagavulin 16 y.o., you can find it in a normal supermarket for nearly 50€ (italian price) and it is awesome, very smoky and is surely the best you can get for this amount of money, look at the review, it doesn't cost a lot but it is amazing
IMHO a good intro for a Bourbon/Rye drinker into Scotch is a nice sweet single malt like a sherried Macallan or Aberlour. They're not the end of story, but a great beginning :)
@@alexk3088
but that's already 40 € and upwards. I'd say there is also good stuff in the 20-40 € range.
@@AtticAurel yeah, I wrote that 3 years ago, prices change. Maybe stuff like Speyburn 10, Glenlivet/Glenfiddich 12, Singleton 12. There are also bottom shelf blends that are cheaper and better than JW Red. Ballantine's, McIvor, White Horse, Grand Macnish (slightly smoky like JW Red), Highland Mist. Probably Glen Moray has some good budget single malt choices. I think even their NAS bottles are decent. Some NAS single malts on the cheap end of the spectrum can be rather bad.
I may use
Please do a blind tasting.
not in canada... cheapest 0.7L is like 25$
And if you can't find it on the bottle it's on the internet you can look it up
Next week: Lidl own brand? Or perhaps not. ;-)
07:35 how the senior stops the junior, demonstrates 😂
This is a beautiful bottle, but the whiskey inside is horrible 4/10
this makes me laugh every time
Instead of buying a Johnnie Walker Red, for $5 CAD more ($50,25 instead of $44.75 for the Red), I always go for Aberfeldy 12 !
This is £16 in the UK you poor guys get a shit deal, at £16 its the best cheap whisky I've ever had and the only one I can drink straight.
wonderful whisky with the right amount of water,,snobs would not know
Lol , that was fantastic , I would have used the word LIMA BEAN , and yes goes well with a mix ; I only mix it with RASPBERRY GINGER ALE, I'm still laughing here with you both ! *****
@14:15 "stay healthy stay horny" hahah
I love GREEN and BLACK.. Cheers mate...
Green is awesome! XR21 too! and 1980s Johnnie Walker
***** Yes Xie Xie....
what you should be doing with all whiskies to give them a fair shake and allow them to bring out there best is to remove a few onces and let some air in the bottle the day before you do a review then pour a glass from that bottle and let it sit a 15 minutes, you are gettting a bad first impression from a first pour right after cracking the bottle open
Making this comment at the beginning before I watched it almost looks like Ben is mad at the thought of drinking this.
It smells a lot worse than it tastes. It has a really strange moldy, chemical smell. it's hard to describe. Is Scotch supposed to smell like this generally?
Great review. JW Red is not nearly as bad as some pretentious "connoisseurs" make it to be. It is a simple and somewhat rough whisky, but it is also flavorful. It can cope with ice, has a high malt content for a cheap blend. It doesn't "get lost" in a cocktail. Coats the mouth nicely. This whisky is made for mixing. I would not drink it neat, but it makes a refreshing highball. Just add ice and soda water. The current version relies on Talisker for that smoke, besides Coa Ila . Talisker also, accounts for the paper flavor.
It's ok neat once in a while. My go to JW is Green. I also have an assortment of Scotch from all the regions and enjoy each one. Always something good in the rotation.
I never liked red label. It always tasted almost salty to me. Glad i was right.
So had my first red label yesterday. The overpowering taste and smell of oak barrels and smokiness is too much for me. Not sweet, not fruity. Quite a ruff taste.Paid 13 euros for a 0.7 litre bottle. My rating 2.5/5.
smells like medical supplies...repulsive
it s like drinking zippo lighter fluid.God damn.
not meant to be comedy I think, but was pretty funny. Shared it on fb.
Hey if it gets you drunk then it’s obviously doing it’s job no matter the price. During lockdown this is gold.
fool's gold
But that's only for the red label the Black Label is different they use more single malt scotch then grain scotch but it's all 12 year old instead of three but that's the only difference
I just bought some Johnnie Walker Red Label. First time trying a scotch. It tastes odd, not at all what I was expecting. I'm used to the taste of bourbon and Rye whiskey so this if a little off putting. Feel like I wasted my money. Oh well, at least I'm getting drunk.
My review is : I didn’t like the taste. It’s not smooth. It’s bitter. No headaches. But since it’s not smooth or pleasant , I won’t try it again. I have other alternatives which are great in taste. Rating 5/10. You taste it first time , your expression will be like this 10:29
I actually think it’s a great whiskey for the price. Personally I would drinks this on the rocks to tame it a bit, take off some of its rough edges.
It tastes like freaking shoe leather
Horrendous Scotch...drink this first, it will turn you off to Scotch.
@@the_gilded_age_phoenix8717 its my first and its sitting right in front of me lol..
It's not the worst blend. But it's very, very close...
Scotch and Amaretto is a “Godfather” and Vodka and Amaretto is a “Godmother”. Johnnie Walker Red Label is very good with Amaretto.
ROYAL STAG and MCDOWELL comparing to it.. ROYAL STAG is the best...
And they use more malt whiskey because grain whiskey makes me feel like crap and all dizzy and malt whiskey just makes me feel like I'm stoned on weed I've done this experiment on my own self that's how I know
And they use 35 different types of malt and grain whiskeys in their blend but they use more single malt whiskey in their blend then grain whiskeys this is out of pure first-hand research
Tried some mixed with coka cola on a late night walk
Not bad but not great
Had a chance to try this last night (refuse to buy it where I could get a single malt for a few more dollars). Didn't hate it and I can kinda understand how a casual drinker of mediocre brandy might like this. About a year ago I got a 1.75L of Costco's Kirkland Signature NAS blended Scotch for about $14 - it's quite comparable. IMHO that's the most I'd pay. It's nice to drink when you're not focusing and analyzing, nice to put in a flask to go outdoors, etc. Here in the US Red Label is $20-25 where I can get Speyburn 10 year old single malt for $24.95 or Old Pulteney 12 for $30.95 and they're both 43%. Red Label isn't bad (it's not on par with any malts, though). Overpriced is what it is. Otherwise it has its place. I doubt I'll ever buy any Walker, other than Green Label, and even that only if on sale.
P.S. speaking of youthfulness, the bottle I was trying said "aged at least 3 years" in small print on the back.
These whiskeys are good for mixing. For neat, minimum i will drink js black label.
Ballantines Finest. Same price. Huge difference. Much better!
Ah! 👌🏻
I like black dog scotch it's really finest scotch and with fruity smelling that give more enjoyment and next I will try redlable👍
Just picked up a small bottle. alright stuff for a $10 200ml bottle. Will try green label next time.
10$ For a 200ml bottle? Thats damn expensive... Tho its not that expensive for a 200ml bottle, since smaller bottles usually cost more.
The most basic but alright whisky on the market £16 in the U.K.
It's a bit peaty as well
Dewars is cheaper here and so much better, honestly Dewars is hard to beat for a blend under $30
I haw wen from 1984 Johnny walker red label haw Mac cost
