I got this for my Christmas in 2023, it is now August 2024 and I still haven't been able to use the Lark M1 with my iphone. I have used various adaptors and even upgraded my iphone 11 to an iphone 13 pro. It works on my mother's android samsung phone so it must be a software issue between iphone and hollyland
@@conveyorofrandomness I am yes, I have bought a few adaptors over the months incase it was the adaptor. I tried the Hollyland app itself but the device is not recognised. The standard Iphone camera app is what I typically use with my other wired mics. It works first time plugging into my mums Samsung when I tried that. So I am really bamboozled to why its not working.
Have you tried downloading the final cut camera app (apps.apple.com/gb/app/final-cut-camera/id6469552837). App store link above or search ‘Final Cut Camera’ (it’s free). This Apple app allows you to choose the audio source for the recording, just to see whether it’s picking up the Lark M1 as an input device.
Thank you very much for this thorough and concise review. I was on the fence and now feel confident with my decision to purchase these for an amateur documentary project that I will be producing that will include interviews with people.
Reason I got it so it would work with my iPhone with otterbox case. I had back in May got the c1 loved its plug and play. Didn’t work with the otterbox case. I return it. Then I saw M1 so I order it today.
Thanks for the review. My concern is that when you turn your back on the receiver, it cuts out... but does that only happen at a certain distance? I am needing a solution that will still capture my voice if I have my back or side to the recipient.
My advice with these during my testing is that at closer range (within about 20m or so), it's very hit and miss whether it cuts out or not, and at longer distances, if you turn your back it will almost always instantly cut out. Mics like these always talk about the line of sight transmission and perfect environmental conditions. Have you tried researching the wireless microphones, where there is a transmission pack (usually) attached to your trousers waist with a lav mic attached?
@ thanks for replying back. I just purchased one and mine didn’t come with the lightning cable. So I went and brought one from a local place not the factory one and I can’t get mine to work. Do you think I still need to buy a factory cable
All of the audio during the test was the mic connected to the camera. If there was any interference during the test it was because there were connection issues. Also there was someone behind the camera with headphones on who could hear the audio
Great Review! I'm also beginning to using the M1. Any tips on how to edit the sound in Davinci like you did? It really sounds amazing like a condenser mic. Also I sometimes get strange distortion in my voice during recording. ever had that problem? (recording in stereo on a phone without noise canceling) sry to put that in comments but there is almost no info on the M1 out there 😅
Thanks. Glad you found the video helpful. I've got a template in DVR that I've tailored to my small echoey room that makes the mic sound better (I hope), and I then use the same template for every video.
imprssive at that distance. below you said it's hit or miss within 20m. I'd probbaly be moving and turning my back at some points but within 5M, would it still cut out and when you say about a transmission pack with lav, do you mena like the rode ones ?
Hello, is this a good gift for Pastor for preaching? I'm trying to get him something where he doesn't need to hold a normal mic and can move freely and speak more clearly, thanks for the help.
I record the sound directly into my camera (sony zv-e10) and edit using davinci resolve. You might either need to check whether the mic is recording the stereo (and not mono, which would cause sound coming out of either only the left or right channel). You may also have to edit the sound with a few presets in your editing software.
I bought the solo version .. but when I connect it to my Sony a6400 it only records CH1 , so only from one side .. why is that ? Do you have any idea ?
Long press the Mode Switch/Volume Down Button for 5 seconds to switch modes: Green static light indicates Camera Mono Mode Blue static light indicates Phone Mode or Camera Stereo Mode (depending on the device connected)
What do you think about this wireless microphone?

Are you using the 3.5mm TRS-to-Lightning Cable? What app are you using to record?

Great video of this product.
It’s plug and play tbf

has anyone tested these in a outdoors windy enviornment?
How did you know at 100-200m that it still connected to the receiver and it works ?
I had a sports watch on which tracked my distance from the starting point
@@conveyorofrandomness Ok, but how did you know that the transmitter is still connected to the camera?

While recording, did you use some sort of noise cancelling?
No, I actually prefer not using the noise cancelling (on any mic) as it feels (and sounds) artificial in my opinion

I'm curious what format do you record the sound in and what software when inside? I have these and can't seem to get the full sound you have.
