I got my first Mac a few weeks ago, It's a 2013 MacBook air! I was on a tight budget and saw a brand new windows laptop for 250$ at best buy but i've always wanted a Mac. So i went online and bought a used 2013 MacBook air and honestly I'm amazed at its performance. Cost me 200$ and i'm having a blast!
I've got the 2014 one, still a brilliant machine
just got one , I installed Catalina patch no problem on lagging at all . runs perfect. I love this mini laptop.
Still holding up even without further upgrades, it still runs great and quite smooth for apps support with this year 2022 and beyond for the MacOS High Sierra systems and get it upgrade with macOS Mojave Patcher in 2023..
i was given a 2011 13” by my mom which had a failed ssd that i replaced and now i use it for school work. I have tried installing windows (10/11), pop os and macos big sur (using a patcher) and i can say that it runs incredibly well for getting work done. The new ssd must really help a lot

@@dawidfrontczak6823 Well it runs monterey really well actually. Its a little slow on startup but after a minute its a very good experience. I do have an upgraded ssd in mine though since the old one failed. Battery lasts about 4 hours when watching video (80% battery health). And by cleaning it, replacing the thermal paste and downloading mac fan control and turbo boost switcher the mac stays at a stable 70C and the fans dont ramp up at all during normal tasks. Normally the fans will spin up instantly and become very loud. The most notable side effect is that monterey patcher still has some graphical glitches but it doesnt affect usage at all. A really good experience overall

I just got this exact computer last week. I was going to go with the installed OSX but the files were missing so I couldn't even do an internet recovery. So I installed Fedora since I'm trying to learn linux anyway.
Can I use applications such as word excel sheets etc also is it okay for normal browsing?
My Grampse had one of the 11 inch airs briefly and I it performed fine, but the display, the bezels were huge and a TN panel on a nearly $1000 machine was depressing to look at and that’s why it got swapped out. He still daily’s a 2015 MacBook with the notorious butterfly keyboard. Screen and speakers are much improved. Battery life still lasts all day, It’s still a great computer. I thought the keyboard would have failed or something by now

Hi thank you so much for this video. I am wondering if there is any way of installing zoom meeting on this laptop, without compromising the security. Even though this laptop is old, it is still faster than my Acer and Lenovo. Thank you in advance
If you are using the latest supported version of macOS and aren’t doing anything sketchy you should be fine to use Zoom without any issues
i have 2012 mac mini but with a 16gb and upgraded internals …. and i just bought one of these just for netflix when i’m in bed… and emails and documents….. i am excited
Are these older MacBooks secure? You can’t download the latest security updates and I’m afraid they’re susceptible to hackers.
That's why I always recommend a linux distribution such as linux mint, as it's easy to use, up to date, and secure
You can install a recent version of windows if you want to, use linux or install a newer version of macos (preferably catalina-monterey) to get more updates
Mine isn’t on a bootable Windows and my MacOS version isn’t on the installed antivirus or malware product since it wasn’t recommended by ..So it will runs on the standard macOS just like iOS currently run and it never gets hacked or whatever asking it wasn’t boot to Windows OS or Linux related.

You can upgrade it with a tool . With the current version you can't install few things .

I’m not familiar with forex trading but if the software isn’t too demanding then you could probably use a laptop like this for it.

iOS doesn’t run on this laptop, the latest version of macOS that is supported is El Capitan or possibly High Sierra
why why why why why why why why ARE YOU RUNNING LINUIX!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? IT RUNS SO BAD ON 2011 MACBOOK AIRS JUST RUN HIGH SIERRA OR SOMETHING!
I recommend using linux because it still receives regular security updates whereas high sierra will not for much longer. Linux has caused no problems for me and I see no reason why it would not work perfectly well for other people. I have been using it on this laptop since the creation of this video over two years ago and there have been no issues.
@@tinythepuptech8560 linuix is just known to have a lot of issues on macbook airs 2010-2012 with curruption and booting which just makes it not worth the hassle

Some of us just make videos for fun with no intention of making money off of them. All if my curse words are censored and do not occur frequently throughout the video so there should be no issues regarding the community guidelines.

I don’t think this would be my most popular video if it was being blocked by RUclips in any meaningful way. Also, if you actually took the time to read RUclipss community guidelines, you would realize this video fully abides by them. I have seen much worse content on this platform that is still fully monetized. Even if I did care about being eligible for monetization I don’t think a few censored cursewords would cause issues for me. Either way I do not care about growing my channel or making money off of it (as I previously stated) because it is just a hobby that I indulge in every couple of months.
