Now this is why you’re the best street photography channel on RUclips. While other channels make videos like “Best Focal Length for a Beginner” or “How to Pack for Travel Street Photography” or whatever. And then there’s you who actually gets to the point, how we should immerse ourselves in the field, take away all the unnecessary things, see this way, see that way - everything is precise, educative and enlightening.
thanks a million for this amazing feedback!.... happy to see that doing things the way I like, I still connect with some people out there. thanks again! cheers
Hey Eduardo, just wanted to say your work has truly inspired me. Love the way you break down your process, and it's always interesting to see how you approach your subjects and framing.
Today I got to know your works and channel. Your photographs are inspiring and I like listening and watching your philosophy and the way you do it. I like your honesty and no pretentious approach. Photography has been my hobby for a long time but until recently I mostly took landscapes and only this year I started taking street photography in Edinburgh. So making sure that the horizon is straight is like first thing I do in editing but recently I was wondering if it is always necessary. What you said made sense to me and I will keep it my mind next time I shoot and editting. It’s good to break out from old habits and trying something different🙂
Hello Eduardo! Lovely bit of advice as always. I found that by disabling all but the essential from my screen (the focus point) I was free to experiment a lot more with my compositions. I've had the 3x3 grid on for the longest time and it is already burned into my eye so I do not need it to guide me anymore on the screen. After my most recent photowalk, I managed to finally nail a shot I had been chasing for 2 years!
Hello Eduardo! That’s so exciting! What focus system do you use? Looks like manual focus but you are so quick! Also is that a Fuji simulation or something else in post?
Love your style bro do you know I used to do angle photography yrs back until people started criticism i stopped but thanks you have given me the idea to recreate again thank you very much
Great video Eduardo. I really love your work and your abiltiy of layering elements. Impressive. I'm wondering if you also shoot manual on your Xpro2? I do on my X-Pro3 and GFX50R. Keep the amazing work.
Hermano Eduardo! Question, for a shooting like this one in the video. Do you use Fuji’s film simulations, recipes or do edit the RAW files later? Amazing photos by the way. 🤜🏼
If you enjoyed the video please click the like button and subscribe! This will help me to spread the channel and get more people to watch my videos. Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments! And THANKS a million for watching!
Another great video Eduardo. Brilliant advice! I'm enjoying the tighter field of view of the 23mm, you're really filling the frames more and the layering is strong. Keep them coming!
thanks a million! I agree, I tend to get more keepers with a 23mm...but I still think that spending a long time with the 18mm made a difference. It's like hardcore training. XD
Tnax again sir...love this povs... Istanbul is awesome...love your layering and explaining the why i will hqve to give the no rule of thirds on a try..have a bless day
Thank you for this reminder of the simplicity of the viewfinder! I will seriously consider it next time! Thank you also for your inspiring video! Street photography as I would like to do more often! A purely technical question: for your focusing, I imagine you use zone focusing. Could you give me an idea of your focusing distance with your 23mm? Thank you ;)
Yes I have, but not as street photographer. I want to come back in the future and see how it goes. but as you say, It's not that easy, and probably will have to shoot somewhat differently. probably more focus on the territory.
Thank you. I enjoy your work very much. The videos are exceptional. Please continue to push out valuable content for the community here. I am traveling to Istanbul in a few weeks, and seeing how the public accepted you taking photos was beneficial. My concern now is to not copy your work. Have you been interviewed by any podcasts where we can listen and learn more about you and your work ? Thanks Again.
Much appreciated! Yeah, people in Istanbul is quite chill, not so much so when it's super hot tho. you wont copy, everyone sees different things, and that's the beauty of photography. I got interviewed by Frames Magazine a while ago. thanks for watching and good luck in Istanbul. here's the link: readframes.com/frames-photography-podcast-with-eduardo-ortiz/
I just got back from Istanbul a couple weeks ago and wish I had come across Tim Jamieson and your videos a month ago, then I guess that's the algorithm getting involved. I really like the way you worked your shots in many of the same locations I was shooting. You've also got a very calming presence in front of the camera and in the audio that accompanies it. Look forward to more of your work.
Just curious how you approach shooting jpeg vs raw? Do you use a particular Fuji profile, and is there much post processing for you? Thanks! Love the work
I shoot raw... not because I need more dynamic range, just the colour density is way better. Also because my editing has changed a lot throughout time and want to be able to correct previous shots. I used the fujifilm film simulations as starting points on my editing. btw I use capture one.
Absolutely incredible... Btw the straight horizon line piece of advice usually comes from people who don't know anything about photography, but they want to show off. I really like your newer videos. I caught myself on checking a few times during the week if you posted it or not yet :D Some of the highlights for me: 10:10 the deceisive moment with the shadow of the bird 13:26 the eggs in the phone 13:38 so many narratives (might be my fav photo) PS Great hairstyle!
Two main reasons. I wanted to bring one lens only this time around, and this was the only one I have with a distance scale. I wanted to use it to show my students how I zone focus. Plus, I tend to get more “keepers” with a 23mm (35mm)
I think just acting normal, smiling and sticking around until they get desensitized to you and your camera! I wanted to do candid shots of my family in a rural village with a big Canon 30D SLR and 24-70/2.8 L and I pulled it off by putting the camera upfront and playing with it and eventually people start talking among themselves and forget about you and your giant camera! 🤷♂😂 And different cultures react differently! I'd be more hesitant to point a camera at strangers in the US than in Asia and Europe!

Possibly! Although it’ll be the shortest video ever. I barely edit my photos

Wooow thanks for such a nice comment
Hello Eduardo!
That’s so exciting! What focus system do you use? Looks like manual focus but you are so quick! Also is that a Fuji simulation or something else in post?
Yes, correct. I use manual focus. I’m quick because I’m usually zone focusing. It’s something else in post, I shoot in raw.

I just discovered this channel and it's very inspiring. Question, since you use prime lens do you also use the AF mode or you use manual? Thanks!
I use both, depending on the situation. But mainly manual! I only use autofocus when doing paid work.
@@eortizfoto Thank you! Do you have a video explaining manual zone focus on a fujifilm camera using an AF lens?

Some tilts work compositionally and some don’t. How about a RUclips or Substack to help us figure this out? Many thanks for all you do!
