How did we get here?
After a year of full time travel living the van life, we had to adapt when the world changed. To keep busy we’ve converted our tiny house on wheels into a fully functioning off grid tiny house that has everything we need. Realizing that none of us know how long this new normal will stick around, we made the decision that building a home here was the best decision we could make. We've spent the last year doing EVERYTHING involved with coordinating and planning the build ourselves as well as setting up this off grid property to be able to provide us with the the food we'll need in the future. Hit with constant delays and building price increases, realizing our dream of building our own home has taken longer than anticipated. With travel starting to reopen again, we've learned so much about the importance of having a home base. and are excited to continue our build this dream here while also doing what we love most, exploring and seeing the world!

Editing the end of this video was much more emotional than I was ready for...I think when you're in the middle of something it's hard to take a step back and really look at where you started. All of these projects we've built together were once just dreams so the fact that they're actually starting to take shape is a feeling neither of us can really put into words but I hope the feeling came across...we're really looking forward to spending more downtime enjoying the life we're building here over the next few months because with Spring on it's way things are about to get even busier 👀. I too found myself getting emotional all through this beautiful designer vlog. All that you have been through, I feel like I've been right there with you. When you cried, I cried, when you were so exhausted, I felt exhausted too but you kept going and I am so happy for you and so proud of you! I love you all! Mwah! :)
I always smile when you talk about “the simple life”. Nothing you two do can be described as simple. Your plans are always on a massive scale, and your ideas are creative and often ingenious. Your ability to think outside of the box always impresses me. Your work ethic and perseverance are more than impressive, and I, for one, can’t wait for what’s to come next. Bravo! 👏👏👏

you guys give me hope for the future. im a teen who has had a hard time imagining a life for herself, and and this makes me dream about maybe slowing down, and living in a cabin in the woods with a wife. keep going! i joke about "the cottagecore gays", but you guys are actually going out there and doing it. sitting down every sunday and watching you guys showcase your week-to-week is a gift to me that i can't really describe. you let me imagine a world beyond the atrophy that sits before me. keep rebuilding eden. But I do understand where y'all are seeing the big difference from living in an rv to this!! You both are an amazing example of team work! Strong and in tune to one another! I have been watching back videos for the last few weeks, and I want to mention that next year, when your canning, you can set up extra folding tables in your outside cooking area, and use that to preserve your produce. My sisters, mom, and I have been canning outside for years with our camp stove and fire pit, and we'll never go back! It keeps the house cooler, you don't have to put everything away to cook meals then pull it back out, and if you spill, you don't have to stop to perfectly clean it. Also, you have as much space as you can get with as many folding tables as you have. We actually have three lifetime tables that are stored in the shed until we are canning again.
I would wait until summer to mention this, but I won't remember until you post a canning video! Your home looks lovely and cozy, and I'm glad you are able and willing to spend a day enjoying your beautiful landscape and quality husband time.

It's funny how you can measure, cut and build from scratch, and yet when you have a "kit" with directions things can go so wrong sometimes. As a Nova Scotia girl living in BC for the past thirty years it brought back so many wonderful memories of clear blue sky days skating way way down the frozen lake after a puck that missed the net. I just stumbled onto you 2 recently, and I love watching your journey! It was great to see you taking time for just chillin' (and warmin'). You brought back some great memories for me, winter campfires & pond skating. Next time you do hotdogs, you should spiderdogs! Just slice into the ends, in a cross pattern, about 1/2 way down, and they curl into "legs." Great for when you have no buns...dip the legs into whatever condiment you want, and eat it off the stick!

Isn't it the luckiest thing to enjoy winter. I have been walking on snow covered paths and loving it. Each day is different. The texture of the snow changes with the temperature. Loved hearing the sound of skates on ice. Truely Canadian.
