@@Not_alex_jones Yes they completely missed this in the video. It is a new bike because of the changes to the engine for Euro5. This has already been noted in a review of the R1M/R1 by 44th and others months ago. With an exhaust and tune you will see a nice increase to power and that tiny increase to weight is gone. The real problem that Yamaha has is the brakes. This goes for most all of Yamaha motorcycles, they have crap brakes.
Official akrapovic website shows that the power bump with a standard dynojet ecu update along with their evo line full system is upto 7+bhp more than the outgoing model. That means Woolich racing or brentune would churn out much more numbers than ever. HELL YEAH!!
I have the 2020, the guy in the video obviously didn't do enough research to find out what was really going on here. Cats removed and servo delete, full exhaust, block off plates, air filter and some other things. 200 to the ground and 16 lbs shaved off.
that ugly shite aprilia it will breakdown after 30k kms wait and cry even resale value also shiteee lol , only R1 will be reliable , fast and moto gp exhaust sound that no bike match R1 superbike king forever
I really like the Aprilia, shame the engine is a hit or miss, and I don't feel like gambling when it comes to engines. For that reason, I'd rather buy Yamahas
Alot of locals have severe problems with their Aprilia rsv4s. I can't bring myself to buy one. They do feel much better and look much better than the yamaha
If the changes are really just refinements which an average rider like myself would unlikely notice then I wonder if it is worth paying extra for a new one as opposed to just getting the 2015 model?
This is a refresh of the 2015 model which yamaha actually did more with the 2020 than they did with the 2012 when they refreshed the 2009 model ( front end update and traction control). Another note the 2020 model will make more hp once the cat is removed being its restricted front he euro 5 constraints.
Its funny what the auto generated subtitles makes of your accent :o) Glad I understand so well that I don´t need it. Love your vids, keep up the great job guys..
Would love to see how it compares with the same priced S1000RR base model. Which is coming. I did ride both. The S1000RR is maybe not as focused as the R1 but man what a lovely bike. However the lack of the customisable pro rider modes feel like a cheap shot from BMW. And that damn ugly plate/taillight scaffolding is a headache because BMW told me if I remove it for any tailtidy I will loose my factory warranty. Back to the R1. New, yes but it's really only an update of the old bike. Still one damn fantastic superbike... The new Blade, well it seems that it will be priced out of contention for the top honors.
Frans Badenhorst The under-seat exhaust is why I’ll keep my 2012. I’d honestly be interested in the new one if it had a different exhaust, dual front daytime lights (instead of that single crap), and a redesigned front fascia.
Sounds like a polished model Working on getting a 2021 matte black R-1 end of the year deal. (Edit.....GOT IT!) And yea ide like some wings too. 🇱🇷🐉local🐉🇱🇷
Endurance racing? They won the 8 hours of Suzuka every year since 2015 except for last year, which they also kind of won, depending on when you tallied the results. They won the Moto America championship with Cameron Beaubier 4 out of the last 5 years and with Josh Hayes for 5 years straight before that, and they won the BSB championship with Josh Brookes in 2015 when the last gen R1 was launched. Maybe you don't consider that domination?
@@iamtherealzombie no, I don't call it "domination". 8 hours of Suzuka iz one race in WEC, run from 1980 to this day, yamaha, if I'm not mistaken has 4 world titles. Speaking of which, count how many has Suzuki since the 1998 or when R1 came to life. When comes to street legal sport bikes, my opinion is to look who wins the races at TT, Superbike and Superstock and which bike is the most preferred with top 10 racers. Would you agree? American and British championship .... Walid claim. Granted. But, since the teams are privately owned, I putt it more to the specific rider and team, more than a bike, but R1 was arguably the right toll for the job for them. 👍

The new bike meets Euro5 standards, so maintaining the same Hp while meeting these standards is quite an achievement.
Probably means there's also more potential for more power gain if you slap a full system and an ecu flash on it

Especially when Suzuki didn't bother to the same to the Hayabusa... cries in the corner:((((
OMG you guyz are on fire. Just cant wait to see the comparison between cbr and r1. Thank you bike show for keeping us entertained during quarantine.
Thanks. At least your wife won't notice that you have actually bought a 2020.Cheers.
Bruce Kendall this is actually funny as hell. I’m bout to get a new bike and tell my girl it was painted.
Cracking review, love the honesty and to the point.
Looking forward to the shootout! Want to see how the new cbr compares to the r1 and the s1000rr!
Came so close to buying one of these new R1s last September but opted for the 2018/19 Aprilia RSV4 RR and so glad i did! Adam 🇬🇧

Good choice indeed so that people wont understand you are riding a new one or a decade old model...👏👏👏👏👏👏

will the rsv4 1100 be included in the superbike comparison next week???

is this the model which has 5 catalytic converters ?
That bike is retailing at R319 000 , I wonder who is selling it at R 299 999 @thebikeshow?
The R1 is getting a bit long in the tooth, why would anyone choose this over, say, a new S1000RR or Fireblade?
What about the Aprilia Rsv4 and Tuono..or ZX 10r ....????
They look exactly similar to their decade year old models....🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕
Excellent review. Been considering buying one so this was very insightful
Ride the FireBlade!!! Incredible in the corners!! Bike is telepathic!!! Honda all day everyday!!

I think the new CBR 1000 RRR-rrrr
Sounds the best in the business right now even with an inline 4...😍😍
But the bike ti slow..in wsbk always behind R1

My ten year old gixxer 1000 still my pick.
Early crankshafts were made of cheese!
Only good for the track and lost their way with the styling. Would rather a Harley for the road even the Sportster that Mat so liked.
