    Not a fan of it looking like an R6 from the front. No need to trade in my '17 based on these small changes Yamaha made.
    I'm sure the better top end(once tuned) will benefit race teams, but will do diddly on the road for most.

    Just checked quickly. Alex Lowes did a 1.38.734 in 2019 in Jerez. So if he did a 1.43.900~ that's more than 5 seconds away. Which is a lot :) (which is expected: the WSBK bikes are much lighter, have much more power and have $30k forks which is more than the price of an R1M).
    EDIT: ok I wasn't exactly fair, I was using his qualifying lap times.
    During race 1, on new tires he was doing 1.40.200~, and about 1.41 by the end of the race. So let's call it a 3 seconds difference. Mea culpa :)
    I would be curious to see what his lap times would've been with a de-cat exhaust + race tune + proper brakes, which are accessible upgrades. Maybe save another second? So yeah, this is definitely impressive!!!

      Dont listen to these guys^^^^ if you mostly commute on freeways you will likely want a liter bike 1. You don’t rev the piss out of it to do freeway speeds 2. Wind will push you around less but if you rarely go above 60mph/100km then a 600 will be all you need then

      @relate97 5 лет назад

      Generic Tyrant i understand where your coming from but too keep my statement kinda short you definitely get pushed around on a 600 if your sharing the road with big ass trucks and a 600 will do all the speed limits just fine your just usually doing it over 10k rpm litre bikes just have that torque and feel more planted there’s a reason bmw doesn’t make a 600

      R6 man. I’ll never go bigger. More than enough speed to ride anywhere, and like other guys are saying...1st gear hits 100km/hr like it’s nobody’s business. R1 is beautiful but IMO too much. I almost wish some days I had a smaller cc bike...but the r6 is my dream bike so I am very very happy. :)

    • @relate97
      @relate97 5 лет назад

      Stan seeing how the street right outside my driveway is 60mph 100km isn’t doing me much you’ll never even touch the torque of a litre bike but I’ll repeat myself if you just cruise in the city then I guess a 600 will be enough.

    How come this bike does so well in MotoAmerica in comparison to BSB and WSBK? Not sure on the rules and regs in the US series but the bike aint near close enough to Kawasaki and Ducati in WSBK although its prob a smoother ride, prob lacking a bit in the power part like the GP bike? I havent drawn comparison with this bike and the latest GSXR 1000 but would love to see how they fair against each other as the GSXR is the current championship winning Superstock bike in BSB. The BMW will lay claim to that next season im sure but ill always see how the stockers are doing to draw comparison on these beasts. Beautiful looking bike this R1 is its almost as if your looking at a street M1, work of art!

      I'm not sure on the US regs either but I know there are some pretty large differences in power outputs of some of their bikes stock. I can't remember which one (blade maybe) but at least one of them regularly did dyno numbers around 20hp down over there. I presume some kind of emissions regs killing them off. If it's similar for each bike they may allow freeing them all up a bit more than our race regs since no one really wants to watch litre bikes with 750 power. They may even run power limits in certain series (as there are in minitwin/etc over here) to keep things interesting.

    Loved my 2015 R1M which I've just sold, so the big question. For track only, in super stock race trim, new R1M or new S1000rr? I was trying to buy a beemer but demand and other issues have thrown a spanner in the works. V tempted to buy another Yamaha but wonder if I'd live to regret it.

      Depends, if you want massive top end power and straight line speed then the S1K. If you want superior handling then its the R1, just remove the ABS loop and pump if you want sharp consistent braking.

      No it does not. It does not have the crossplane engine. Also when they changed the R6 body work in 2017 I believe, the engine remained the same. It is a traditional inline 4. Still a great 600cc engine though!

      Best balanced supersport for Track and road use is 2020 S1000 RR M package

      @@nihvl the new S1000RR has the worst suspension in the stock state as far as i have been told by Fellow riders who rode it at BIC. Most people commenting probably have never ridden the bike , I have one now , used to have a 17 , I also had a s1000rr and I ride every day with friends with different bikes , and I can honestly tell u this is probably the best bike u can get for ur money, here in the us , u can get a left over 18 for 14 k .
    Brakes are actually great , they are not grabby like in the bimmer , plenty fast , super easy to lean , I can keep up with pretty much any bike , even with a panigale r.
    It is all about the rider, let me ask u this , if u were to put Fabio Q ON THIS BIKE stock just the way it is , You think that this guy or anyone else would keep up with him ?
    Well now u know , it is the rider not the bike.

    So like MotoGP Yamahas... not much changed and has less power than the others. Dont understand all the gimmicks. Braking electronics? Why would you need that? One of the most sensitive parts of the human body, the fingertips are used to modulate brake pressure and direct feel. Just adding electronics for the sake of having another feature
