Tech CEOs, Trump Talk Modernizing Government

- (19 Jun 2017) The White House on Monday urged technology CEOs to pitch in on President Donald Trump's effort to modernize government.
Apple CEO Tim Cook and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos were among those attending an afternoon of working groups on issues like technology infrastructure, cybersecurity and visas for foreign workers.
The administration drew a mix of flattery and policy requests from the assembled technology leaders and university officials. Cook, the Apple CEO, requested that computer coding be taught in every public school.
The gathering was the first event for a technology-focused effort within the White House Office of American Innovation, which seeks to overhaul government functions using ideas from the business sector. Several of the executives complimented Jared Kushner, senior adviser and son-in-law to Trump, and his wife, Ivanka Trump, the president's daughter and a senior adviser, for helping to drive the initiative.

Sure, if you feel that money and materialistic objects defines owning the world. Some will disagree that these are all short term since you cannot take weatlh to the grave. The people who really own the planet are the people who need no wealth, no board meetings and no financial incentive, and have found meaning in connecting with the true owner of the planet, mother nature.

"Coding should be a requirement at each public school"
Totally agree with that one Tim!
General G. Washington we are currently transitioning into a digital world... At some point in the future coding will be as important as writing or speaking English... If students need to take history, why not having coding as well? I regret not having that opportunity in High School...
@General G. Washington Why not mandatory? Not everyone can learn music, art, writing, math, technology ... how is that different?
General G. Washington while I am not saying I agree or disagree with the point you are trying to make, coding is most definitely something that stimulates creativity.
General G. Washington coding will advance society tech is what will push us forward not creative learning. However it does last for century’s
it is joke!! 90% of code use in big tech will copy from open sources platform
I agree with Tim Cook on coding being a requirement. In 5th grade I was forced to learn html in school which really helped shape my future.
“Coding should be a requirement in every public school... ” that’s awesome
I don't know why, but I feel Trump is thinking about having a sandwich the entire time
a big mac or quarter pounder
Lol
Thats politics
Obviously not, you must be a fat ass 😂😂
trump is billionaire too i think its very obvious that as a president he should participate in the meeting of billionaires
Around 3:00 Tim Cook said "Coding should be a requirement in every public school". Wow, this is huge ;-)
Don't be fooled. More programmers means more supply. And this means more competition on the market. So price will go down and Apple can hire more coders at lower price.
@@deflandre8286 good programmers will still be very rare though, and we don’t even learn to use excel in my school, like wtf will you do in life without knowing how to use a computer and search effectively on google

They have meetings every year, but YOU aren’t invited. There is the Bilderberg Group Meeting,
The G20 Summit, the World Evonomic Forum, and many more we havent even heard of going on behind closed doors. These people plan your future and you’re kids future. They control the culture, you’re kids future beliefs, and the programming of the world.

It should be.
hey Apple CEO: not everyone wants to sit in a cubicle and stare at a computer screen working on coding all day... also... Steve Jobs would be wondering why you're still producing iPhones and not something else more innovative... you can't keep making a camera better and processor/graphics better for the next 10 years.. try being innovative and create something yourself and quit tweaking Steve Jobs' inventions...

Definitely agree with that statement. Everyone should have at least preliminary knowledge of coding just like we do for math or reading comprehension. Otherwise, we risk falling behind as a nation
3 years passed by. Public US schools didn’t make coding a requirement yet. Schools are useless.

Can’t help but feel this is a power push by big tech, the more reliant the government is on tech the more influence big tech has
