I don't think it still makes much sense to use the most maxouts as qualification. Maybe in 2019 it worked, because very few people were getting multiple maxouts, but now play matters a lot after getting 999,999 so it seems more like a race now.
There’s actually a lot of reasons from logistical constraints to actually seeding. If you look at the seeding for the past two years, the qualifying system was mostly accurate with few players upsetting the top 8. At the moment the qual system does what it needs to do
Agreed, it is more of a race, in that people who do lv 19 starts have the advantage. If you're good enough to play on 19 like it's 18, then you have a shot at the most maxouts. The pool of players who can max from a 19 start for a dozen games in a row is probably roughly the gold bracket's size. Everyone else who can max out from 18 is headed to Silver or the upper part of Bronze.
@@philershadi6037 if cutoff for the past 3 years hasn’t cracked 3 Maxout minimum I don’t think people that opt for exclusively 19 start maxes are as abundant as you might think. Maybe in the near future, but not this year
@@ITZsharky1 It looks like there are at least a few dozen people who can play 19 safely and have enough post-29 play to complete a missed maxout, but maybe I've just been watching too many crash/rebirth runs and it's skewing my view. I'll be tuning in to find out in any case.

just wondering, why have 3 brackets instead of just doing a 64 player silver and 48 player gold or a 64 player gold and 48 player silver?
Time. We looked at how feasible a 64 player bracket would be and under the time constraints it just would be possible or rather really difficult for us to pull of with a shorter time horizon to prepare for

is there any particular reason why classical tetris is still played on a nes instead of a more modern platform that offers classical tetris? (which I assume exists beyond the one mode in tetris effect)
Classic Score Attack on Tetris Effect Connected has additional input delays that are significant at higher speeds.
What about Bronze bracket? Is that the same rules as Silver?
Bronze bracket rules are still being flushed out. When we get close to the date we will have that information flushed out - Sharky

will there be a match between the losers of the semis to officially determine 3rd place?
3rd places is determined by number of wins, then average losing score in the semis round
50 is a lot when you know andy, dog, fractal or another top player will take it.
You get professional headshot taken which that in of itself it worth a bit and if you make the gold bracket you’ll break even on the entry fee. But everyone wants a chance to prove themselves on the biggest irl stage the scene has!
