That call centre job sounds fire, but to me proves you are an authentic person and not some twee lifestyle guru. Long may you continue. A wild swimmer I met at Howden Reservoir, above The Ladybower in the Peak District, the other day. Both in their sixties, they're wild swimming every day in lockdown. They had the same attitude as you. Loving lockdown.
Dosent matter if I’ve seen all your videos before on wild swimming I still enjoy watching them over again and it’s inspiring me to find some places up on Dartmoor or a lake.
This is the anecdote to the call center Laura. Super well done for getting in there. I'm a swimmer and swim open water but haven't dared tried winter swimming - yet! You've inspired me. All the best. Mark
@@lauragriffithsoutdoors Yes Laura. Still thinking about it. Ha ha! Let's see if I get my gear together and get into the river - the Wye that is. A pleasure to watch and comment. Peace!
I'm a 56 year old guy who lives in Michigan. For years I've played with triathlons. One race I've done for many years has the swimming portion done in Lake Superior. I historically used a wetsuit due to the 15C water in August. Last year I was shamed out of using the wetsuit, and swam without it. When I got out for the bike portion, I felt like magic. This winter/spring I have taken up cold water swimming as part of my training. I love it, but my wife thinks I'm nuts. Nevertheless, I totally understand and can relate to everything you say in this video. You look and sound like a wonderful person. Enjoy your swimming.
Nice one, I’ve been getting into my local sea and river spots over this winter for the first time and it’s such an amazing experience! So good to see other people enjoying it too 👍👌
Shot around this area a few times - somewhat daunting when the weather comes in! Looking forward to more adventures myself, and from your delightful wild swims.
Watching this on one of the hottest days in August 2020, I've decided to try and swim through the winter this year, im actually quite looking forward to the burning painful cold sensation 😀
Dunno about Crazywell...Crazygirl more like, seriously though good effort that took determination, something I admire in anyone. You should try Gold Diggings Quarry on Bodmin Moor and the unnamed pond not far from it, Dozmary Pool and Kit Hill Quarry too. Maybe see you on the moor sometime, YT'ers passing each other seems a pretty common occurrence these days :) Sub number 121 I think this channel will grow quickly, good luck with it and your adventures
Great vlog. I'm in my first winter of swimming and I love it. The loch I usually swim in has had a low of 2.6°c. To be in the water and have a different view of something so familiar is a beautiful thing. I'm a skins swimmer too and don't own a wetsuit - best way for me 🥰
Yes I am doing the polar bear challenge this year. I am up to 1580 m and doing the gold 5k from November through to March. I am quite jealous you swim in a loch it’s a dream of mine. Closest I’ve got is in wales in a glacial lake
I've just googled the polar bear challenge, gutted I've only just heard about this (all sold out) do you know of any other challenges that I can use for motivation over the winter?
@@dongdipperadventures6565 I'm not sure if that reply was for me or not but hell yes I'm back in the water. Much needed time out from everything at least twice a week.
Beautifuly made. ,I missed the days I would cycle for miles ,then swim , especially in winter, and just find a deserted spot, and just take of clothes and swim,as I hated swimming in winter with clothes,as they would many times freeze to the skin, but in theses days I had a bodie many didn't mind seeing me naked,as once I cared about health and looking after myself, any hoo beautiful video, and great see you have the free spirit❤️❤️
I too have taken up wild swimming 🏊🏻 and I can definitely recommend a Dryrobe, they're expensive but so worth it and make getting dressed after a swim super easy, I'd live in mine if I could. Really enjoyed your video 👍🏻
Brave! Very brave!! It's been so cold today that my car battery died! 😂 Good on you, though, Laura. A stark contrast to your daily work. I've been thinking about my own winter wild camp(s) to try and 'live a bit more' in the abyss between summers... But I've yet to commit to the idea!! 😁 All the best.
It’s a bit rubbish at the moment in the rain but when it gets colder and drier the nights are lovely for a bivi I just take a fleece liner. Lovely sunrises
Been meaning to try crazy well for ages. I’m near culliver and salmons leaps. Is it a hard walk? My mobility is it improving but I’m nervous of routes I’ve not tried before.
Hello it is an uphill rocky firetrack then up hill on grass not too far from burrator car park far end. Not too much further than how you would access cullver steps from either the top car park or Belstone
Hi Laura. Literally only just discovered your channel and enjoying what I've seen so far. I just wanted to get a ladies perspective on solo wild camping . Im struggling with anxiety and as a 40 yr old man, I feel a bit daft when guys like yourself seem to not even worry one bit! Obvs, kinda helps to have a Staffy with you but still, just curious to get your view.
Hm that’s a good question. I’ll let you into a little secret, I get anxious too! I used to be scared I would get lost, die from the cold, not know what I’m doing and for some reason need rescuing. I still do get nervous but i just build up little by little so first night went wild camping with friends somewhere I’ve been before, then I camped alone near my car. Now my navigation is good and I can go anywhere alone. Just start off small it’s liberating to conquer your fear. X
@@lauragriffithsoutdoors Thank you for your reply and insight. Im definitely going to take on board your tips and hopefully, I'll be OK and won't get murdered lol. X
Well done for getting in that water young lady. Totally agree with your sentiments about what humans are and should be. Sorry about your dire employment. Tory governments and globalisation have a great deal to answer for.
Your body (inner core) continues to cool for much longer than 10 minutes. You should always remove your wet swimming costume before getting dressed. Enjoy and keep safe x
I think you should consider a job outdoors.... You are wasted in a call centre! National Park ranger, for instance, and get paid for doing something you love.
Born and bought up in Devon , lived all over the world since , left my heart ❤️ in Devon , vlogs like yours remind me why , bless your heart Hun 🙏
The legend of Crazy Well Pool is so spooky!!! Love dartmoor. Its like home.
As someone who worked in a call center I am so glad I dont work there anymore. Nice vid. Glad I found you channel
God wish i was young again id be so into that. Less alcohol more wild adventures. ...love the enthusiasm of the dog .....

Great film!! Your dog is polar opposite mine, I can’t keep her out of the water!! Keep it up 💪 .
Dartmoor is a great place all year round privileged to live close to it plus to have the cost literally on your doorstep.

Did you end up getting outdoors for a camp or swim this year?
Absolutely well done you! Your doing what I can only dream off. Keep going 😊
Oh my! That looks incredibly cold. Nice video and channel. Subscribed ✌️
Thanks 😊
Great channel. You have similar interest to my videos. ✌️
Change job if it makes you unhappy. If you have the determination to do cold swimming you have the determination to find a job better suited to you :)

Your bonkers!!! Atb. Hardy
Too cool
Nice time
Yes your body continues to cool for around 40 mins plus post swim. That is why you need to remove your wet swimming costume
You are lovely 🙂
