I remember not being able to sleep one night because I had a concert in the morning in school, so my dad let me play Castlevania on my Gameboy at midnight or so. He loved the game, and liked seeing me enjoy it. I loved it, and I loved sitting up while he worked listening to this music.
Hearing this again brings back some amazing memories.
I miss you dad.
That got me
:( feelsbadman
Good dad.
YOUR DAD DIED??? OH NO!!! :'(
I’m so sorry
Nice touch on highlighting the areas on the map where each track plays...
Except he got one wrong, "Prologue" would play at the left edge of the map,
and "Vampire Killer" would include the bit to the left of the first hall.
I'm particularly smitten how Dracula's Lair changed from yellow to red for the transition from 'Nothing to Lose' to 'Black Night'.
Yeah, Dracula changing into his Great White Beast form *_was_* quite the shock the first time I saw it! 😁
(And then he razed the entire castle for 'Voyager'! Stop, please! I'm dying here! 🤣)
It's hard to imagine games with 16 minutes of soundtrack these days, this is literally the definition of short and sweet
Did you know Bloody Tears is only 30 seconds long? 😮
The final boss theme of FFVI is 18 minutes long, that one theme alone is longer than this full OST. Crazy
@@no.402 and it's a masterpiece
Video Game Trivia Time: Did you know that Castlevania is the first video game soundtrack ever to be composed entirely of Bangers?
Starker is the only meh song
SF / Bup Toad bruh
Out of time tho
Club Bangers 2020
Agreed, then Legacy of the Wizard (1987) and Bionic Commando (1988)
Vampire killer is the only sensible choice of ringtone.
I was just debating a ringtone from this, had it narrowed down to VK, Poison Mind, Wicked Child, and Voyager. Thanks for helping me decide.
not all phones can replicate the midi perfectly though
The only? no
Definatly
Castlevania Sound Track brings back some fond memmories to me,,,,,,,
Best Tracks on the Game
1. Vampire Killer
2. Wicked Child
3. Heart of Fire
My favorite tracks are wicked child, heart of fire, yellow submarine, and vampire killer.
1. Out of Time
2. Wicked Child
3. Vampire Killer
My favorites are
1. Out of time (really underrated)
2. Wicked child
3. Heart of fire
Omg someone has the same top 3 as me lol
@@PWBS-yc6xi out of time is definitely underrated... sometimes i think just because the game was so damn hard people barely even heard it until years later
Wicked Child hit so hard, even to this day... Incredible!
I call it "the hunchback dance" bc the hunchback enemy in this stage seems to be dancing to it
It's a certified banger
One of the best soundtracks ever made for a NES-game
Deez older 1980's-1990's Castlevania soundtracks were just really good, period!
I really like the old Metroid music
Castlevania II is also up there imo
i remember dying on stage 3 so much from listening to wicked child and be in a trance, even as a kid, and the feeling lasted over 20 years, good music never dies
I remember as a kid I couldn't get passed those mummies on stage 9. So the first three songs always bring me lots of nostalgia.
Years later when I revisited and completed the game I was thrilled to see there was so much more killer songs in it!
I just found out the composer of this. Even though she didn't work on any other Castlevania she established the sound with these bangers
Both Kinuyo Yamashita & Satoe Terashima deserve massive credit (as well as whoever else may have been involved) in creating one o da best game soundtracks ever, especially for da NES & paving da way for many more great Castlevania soundtracks afterwards!!
Ps, shoutouts to CoolCat da commenter for da full names o deez 2 underrated yet legendary game ost composers ;)!!

Thanks alot for dat one, CoolCat ;)!!
15:55 over and over and over and over and over and over again.
There are many full soundtrack clips of games, but what makes this one so amazing is how you've done with the map. Looks very nice how the area that has that certain track lights up. Well done (nice description too)!
Love this soundtrack, I remember first playing this game and finding it scary to play in the dark at the very least, to this day though I still play Simons Quest with the lights on :/
that's kinda sad dude.
*xD same here :p hahaha --- i didn't play tho... i just enjoyed watching either my Dad or sister played it wonderfully hhHhh*
Man up. Whip the shit out of the walls and eat a 2,000 year old pork chop. And watch my new show on my channel. I play castlevania with the lights off and I pay people to run into the room and try to stab me. BTW I finally beat it back in 2000. Fricken dracula makes the rest of the game look like candyland. Which um.... is also kind of a hard board game. SHUT UP!
What a terrible night for a curse😂
I've gotta say, Heart of Fire is definitely my favourite track here.
Amen brother.
The best Castlevania soundtrack of all with almost all of the classics. Only 'Bloody Tears' and 'Dracula's Castle' are missing for it to be the perfect soundtrack
+Philippe GEORGES To be honest, the most perfect Castlevania soundtrack would include every theme ever made (excluding later remixes of any given theme). The compositions are just brilliant.
I love and hate the fact that someone can compose music like this... I've loved these tracks ever since my childhood in the 90's, playing these games on the nintendo. I became somewhat of a composer myself in my adulthood but I'm still searching for a way to imagine something as striking as this soundtrack and compose it
I feel you man, I'm about to graduate with a degree in music composition and my work is nowhere near this level lol. Love the OST for this game.
Poison Mind is the one that brings back the most memories of this game to me!
The soundtrack of this game will always give me flashbacks to when I first played the game way back in the late 80s. This game blew me away. It was hard as hell. But I really enjoyed it. And its music really leaves an impact on you. Especially Vampire Killer.
It's such a pleasure to draw vampire and werewolf stuff while listening to this!
Top 3
1. Heart of Fire
2. Out of Time
3. Vampire Killer
HEART OF FIRE!!! :3
100% agree. Heart of Fire is killer, Out of Time is fire, and Vampire Killer is out-standing.
Top 3 1. Stalker
2. Vampire Killer
3. Nightmare
The organ-esque riff in Heart of Fire is, to this day, encompasses what I feel classic Castlevania is all about.
Castlevania is one of those amazing games that are rather underated nowadays : you got man, you got weapon, you got a castle full of angry monsters and vampires. HAVE FUN ;D
Yeah! I surprisingly still love the game despite its age and that I never grew up or played much castlevania games. There’s a strong unique charm the game has.
@@sirokami2992 Agreed. Just bought the anniversary collection to try the series out from the beginning, amazed by how fun the game is despite how simple it is. As well as how fun it is to gradually solve all the stages when going through them multiple times. Currently trying to beat it the OG way by starting over from the beginning each time I boot up the game, and I discover something new almost every single run.
@@bok4822 yeah! It has a perfect balance of simplicity and complexity. And going through stages multiple times feels like you learn to master them. You put it in better words than I can
Oh yes, the original _Castlevania_ OST. I love me some _Vampire Killer_ with that classic 8-bit chiptune "doot-doot-do-do-do-do @ 0:14!"
whoever did the composition on all the castlesvania games on nes was a damn genius,Really good tunes
Gonna have to share some love for Out of Time. Despite the annoying part with the giant bats constantly pushing you into holes, this track is a certified banger.
I own a real whip, so when I listen to these songs I start whipping things like crazy, imagining myself surrounded by all sorts of monsters. Also, my favorite songs are heart of fire, wicked child, vampire killer, poison mind, out of time, black night, and voyager.
I like Prologue, Vampire Killer, Out of Time, Poison Mind, Nothing to Lose, Black Night, All Clear, Voyager, Death, Game Over, and Underground.
badass soundtrack, and very damn hard game, finally beat for my first time today, highly reccomend
The beer I had when I finally finished Castlevania was the best beer I ever had, hands down.
what a badass soundtrack, especially black night, felt like a boss listening to this.
I agree. Really good tracks!
Poison Mind and Bloody Tears from part II are very similar and very awesome!
I'm glad to see that people are still commenting on the video. Maybe the Netflix Anime brought them here, but it's always nice to have an active family for a near-dead house.
As for this OST, this is simplistic godliness signified. Every song in this game, EVERY FUCKING SONG sets the mood right. My personal favorite is Heart Of Fire, but that's not to say that the iconic Vampire Killer, the creepy Stalker, the upbeat Wicked Child, the chilling Walking On The Edge, or the frantic Out Of Time are any less. What a beautiful thing.
What a piece of art! So many memories comes to my mind in this moments, absolute thanksfull
there was a specific night i spent at least 2 or 3 hours straight
breaking into 1 or 2 am on in my early teens trying to beat this game,
specifically from Death's level and on and I finally did. It was the
most satisfying thing ever in a young boy''s life and in some strange
way one of the most connecting ways I have with my pop. I wrote on the
back of the game cartridge the date of that night when I beat it, but
now it'd be like doing it in my sleep. Loved video games and their
soundtracks fondly ever since and I can always come back to the music
here for some memories :) thanks for the upload
how did you get through the hallway before deatg
oh man that's a throwback question. before speed-runs and internet this was a hard af game that took nintendo power or tons of trial-and-error like most nes games were back then and i went the trial-and-error route. Arguably the top 5 hardest parts of the game with the dracula fight, death fight, frankenstein being up there too since you're trying to pass this hallway with full health for the annoying death fight. I'm going to assume I managed to get the cross or holy water, and spammed it in that room and whipped the knights to death while keeping them locked. I remember that if your sub-weapon kills any of the heads or knights there's a very high chance you'll get the double or triple too which make death easier
you also just reminded me that i really want to and should be no the task of getting my retro games streamed and recorded rebeating them. you're awesome for that and galaga
Top 3
Vampire Killer
Heart of Fire
Wicked Child
+Tinnue Vampire Killer gets stuck in my head all the time. It's why I'm here, actually.
But the CV4 version of vampire killer is also pretty nice :) Cv4 is actually my favorite of the series
+Tinnue for me wicked child is the best. I even consider it the best one in the franchise
+David Moço its dann good. but I grew up with cv4 so thats my Favoriten music from the Franchise. :)
+Tinnue Vampire Killer is the best, but Heart of Fire will always be my favorite. (At least the Castlevania 1 version will be.)
I remember playing this SO much, and when I got to the wicked child song part. I felt like such a badass in side.
This music is awesome! Good classics never die.
Amazing how this music was made with so little resources and what a pleasure it is to still listen to.
This is youtube and we all contribute to it. Go download the Castlevania soundtrack and upload it individually and package it in a playlist. I'm sure other people would like that as well. I look forward to your uploads.
When I hear these music, I feel like whipping stuff up with my belt or anything that is string-like and has extra weight on one end (because, it's quite hard to maneuver it when the weight's not there).
When I take my belt, preparing to wear it, I immediately hear these music and feel like whipping things up again.
Walking Edge is so underrated!!
Love it, it's 1989 again and I got my Nintendo hooked up to my Commodore 64 monitor. Ah the memories. Loved the soundtrack and game.
Precious memories I have had with this game. I finally completed the gae last year for the first time lol. This was one of the original NES games I "NEVER" completed
As simple, short, and to the point this is, this might be the most consistently good OST of this entire series in my opinion.. every track is fire.
Saying this game has a horrible soundtrack, is like saying the soundtrack for Back To The Future on NES is a masterpiece.
Thank you for this video, great work.
15:00 Voyager ! Oh my mind is blown
I love how you added the map and highlighted the zones where we'd hear these songs in the game.
This game might well have the best soundtrack on the entire NES.
What about cv3?
I used to play this game around 90's and was so cool. The best game ever in story, music and experience. So many flashbacks and fun times listening to the ost. 👍🏼
It feels so nice to both have just beaten the game and listen to the music without the worry of those goddamn bats
The bats were easy. It's the darned birds.
@@joeyk107 for me, the birds were pretty predictable, but difficulty can be subjective.
This is a fucking great piece of music. I never really noticed how great it was before. The riffs are awesome
And thus we have a video game soundtrack that's basically entirely in minor keys. Marvel at it!
Fitting, isn't it?
It's just perfect.
I definitely hear diminished 5ths as well
That's the beauty of the sport right there.
True!
When you think of it, like 99 percent of Castlevania music throughout the whole series is minor key. The only exception I can think of off the top of my head is the ending theme from Rondo of Blood when you beat Dracula as Maria.
Are we not going to talk about how in the description, 'Nothing to Lose' is noted as sometimes referred to, "Fred Fucks shits a Fuck?"
Wicked Child has got to be my favorite. Fires me up every time
who remembers staying home from school, pretending to be sick, to play castlevania all day while parents were at work?
RIP Konami.
Better slot machines than ever?
Love me some pay-to-win zombie spinoff cash-grab games.
You may want to change your profile picture due to its... unsavory undertones.
That side note on Nothing to Lose made me laugh way too hard
Out of Time is such an underrated one
I could listen to Vampire Killer all day every day for the rest of my life.
soo....this is what old classic castlevania music is like...I've hear like a few of them before...WTF this is like the best game music I ever heard in my entire life!!!!
I've been looking for this very music, thank you, thank you for posting!
If you were a teenager in the late 80's this music makes you feel great. Especially "vampire killer".
Ahhhh the memories! Thanks for posting this! :)
Wow I've never seen "Underground" 16:07
Very nice touch how you highlighted the map with each theme
Wondering about the people who gave a thumbs down. They must have not grown up in the 80's playing this game. The best part of it was, and continues to be, the soundtrack. I never got far playing but at least I had nice songs to die to.
Marvelous soundtrack, Josep.
i actually prefer it all on one video like this
ty for posting it, good memories (and a few frustrated memories as well :P)
Man, this games soundtrack is in one of those fields where all of it is really good, and it's hard to pick on you really like, and can call your favorite.
NES soundtrack brilliance, indeed ;)!
OMGOTHIC GOD thanx so much for posting this, my beloved CASTLEVANIA;; SIMON BELMONT!!! ^ ^
I really like Stalker .. great soundtrack for a great game!
Killer soundtrack. Nice job including the map too.
#thanks
out of all games Ever made (and take my word for it) castlevanias ost is the very best. The Best
I adored this game as a kid, but can't recall if I ever beat it or not. I know I at least got to Dracula's second form.
My favorite tracks: Vampire Killer, Stalker, Wicked Child, and Out of Time (just in order they're played here)
I like that you had the castle crumble for the end.
How do you get to the Password screen in Castlevania?
Stalker is so fire...how has no one sampled this for a rap song yet???
Out of Time really gets the blood pumping honestly.
Wicked child is enough to get any bold person to chill out for a second and rock out.
Heart of Fire is great, but it triggers so much PTSD from the goddamn hallway segment with medusa heads along with Darknuts.
Eh, Darknuts were in LoZ, but I certainly see the similarity. Both Axe Knights and Darknuts are durable pains in the ass.
best videogame soundttrack period
Heart of Fire for the win
Thanks for the great nostalgiac upload, brings back good memories.
Damn this whole OST is beyond lit 🔥🔥🔥
7:40 fucking knights before the Grim Reaper !!!
The pound for pound greatest NES Soundtrack of All Time
The perfect soundtrack for a spooky Halloween night! A peak in the NES library of music if you ask me! I made a Metal Guitar Medley of this game :)
Fred Fucks? FRED FUCKS?! Oooh my god, Fred Fucks!
My internet was recently out for a month, and the only thing that would get me to sleep is listening to the same handful of episodes of Retronauts, including the Castlevania episode.
I just found a sick copy of this game Complete in Box and HAD to snatch it. I cannot wait to play this fricking series on original hardware.
Wicked Child is the best!
you sir are right!
It's good but I prefer Heart of Fire
I agree with you, Heart of fire - best.
Turnipkin
I would say out of time
Freddrick Belmont They are all great
Death's Stage (6. Heart of Fire) brings me back to 5th grade or so...it's a rainy day, haven't even touched my homework and my backpack is just thrown on the ground. Slightly dark because of the clouds, no one's home yet except me.
I've gotten to this stage many times but haven't been able to beat Death himself (this is before it was common knowledge to me to stop him in place with Holy Water or Crosses). Even though I couldn't beat Death, that music plus being able to just get through the stage basically unscathed felt so good.
Funny how this song brings me back to this memory...
I remember this game as a child, so much nostalgia.
im from the 2000's and i think this games awesome
Good for you
what part of the powerpoint do I get to do
My new order:
1. Heart of Fire
2. Vampire Killer
3. Walking on the Edge
4. Out of Time
5. Wicked Child
6. Stalker
Awesome music! I'm playing that game now for the first time and got death killed after three attempts. So hard to beat this game. Started with CV4 in my childhood and now I wanna play all the CV games. One of the best game series in my opinion so far. Music + graphics just suit this game so good!
"you know why you don't have any friends? you are a real pain in the NECK!"
Hahahaha
I’ve seen that video
jesus i played this game again recently on the anniversary collection, it is torture to hold your nerve for like 10 minutes straight for the drac first phase
Superbe music du JV même en 2019 je l'est écoute encore et encore ^^
It's truly astounding how some 8 bit games have better music than the ones on the radio today.
