    I used to love this brand and I spent a lot of time praising them to artist friends and money on their products (more than I should have lol) until I posted on Instagram some stories with lightfastness tests results that showed many of their colours faded dramatically in 2-3 months.
    They blocked me.
    I'm unable to view their profile on insta now and unable to tag them if I post art made with their products.
    I guess they should block the sun.
    It saddened me. I stopped using their paints and brushes even though I really loved them. But I can't find joy when holding them anymore.
    I got upset and even if it's petty, I called them out (although politely) on this unprofessional move.
    They should simply update the lightfastness information and stop claiming they have excellent lightfastness. People still buy fugitive paints. Lying is not a good idea.

      @@arleebean Summer Sun Red, Lavender and Fall Poplar Yellow completely faded after 3 months when diluted. Given how you use very light washes and layers, it could be a problem if the pieces are sold.
      Most of their peach, greens, violet and orange convenience colours contain those pigments.
      I made a blog post last year talking about the fugitive paints on their collection and as far as I've tested these are all fugitive:
      -Neebin Giizis’aande-Summer Sun Red: PR170
      -Kosmaan’aande-Pumpkin: PY74, PR170
      -Qwejigun-Bread: PY43, PR170

      -Dwaagi’Azaadibuk’aande-Fall poplar yellow: PY74
      -Zhaawbmide-Butter: PY74, PW6

      -Prussian Blue: PB27
      -Waaskonense-Violet (small flower): PB15:1, PV23
      -Miin’aande Azhbikoong (blueberry mountain): PV23
      -Gaatchi Waaskonense-Lavender (tiny small flower): PV23, PW6
      -Chi’ngwaankwat (Very Cloudy)-Payne’s Grey: PB29, PY43, PR170

      @@Shesvii I am not surprised by this, I don't buy Beam anymore because on how low the tinting strength is. Their Pthalo blue, is so pale it might as well be a cobalt.. It fades so fast when I use it. The other colors are also so pale that I rarely use them, I have a small four color set that i got in a whim and its okay, but I am pretty much going to stick with brands that are more richer than Beam sadly.

    Are you planning to try Schimnke Super Granulating watercolors? I'm so in love with all shades and these packs of paints with one word. I recently purchesed a few single small tubes but the sets look amazing. Would love to see you try a few sets and make small paintings like they did for the cover.

    • @Kimmaline
      @Kimmaline 2 года назад +2

      I have a few of the sets and a couple individual colors. In some of the sets there are colors I could have passed on--very little I'm disappointed in but things I could have lived without spending the money on after I saw them in person. That being said, in every set I own, there are colors that are just mind blowing. I just opened Haze and Shire yesterday, actually, and Haze Pink has to be one of the most gorgeously beautiful granulating paints I have ever seen in my entire life. The next time I order anything from Jacksons I am getting a larger tube so that I know I will always have this. It's like this lavendar grey granulating out of a baby pink and it is just *stunning*.
      I have a chum I've made on RUclips, LanaGoesArt, and she does fabulous swatches of a lot of the Schminke paints. Plus she is a wonderful human. ❤️

    • @olciaxxxdd
      @olciaxxxdd 2 года назад

      @@Kimmaline Haze pink is beautiful. I watched some swatches and sets are good especially because of unique combinations but like you said. Not all of them are that good.
      In my country I only recently manged to buy them so I'm super excited.
      I've bought galaxy pink, tundra pink, tundra violet, tundra green and glacier turquoise.
      I wish I could buy more and have shire set or forest one. There are so nice greens that I don't have much.
      Actually they will be my first watercolors in this prize range and from schminke. But they are just so nice and I only have a few colours that granulate.. and they don't look that pretty.

    I had small Beam watercolour palette, and while paints were good, for painting on a go the wooden palette is too wasteful of the space; into the metal tin of about the same size I could pack about 16-18 half-pans freely.
    It looks nice on photos, though, and if one paints in studio/at home, the size is probably not an issue, but as I couldn't take paints off the palette without breaking them I gave the whole thing away.
