I always love seeing hives rescued like this. It is a shame most will use pesticides to get rid of them. This is harder, to be sure, but with honeybees in decline it is worth the effort to try and put them in a new home.

Japanese honeybees are so relaxed... shake them around? Blow air on them? Carve up their hive? Scoop them up into bags? Shake them out onto a strange box? They only appear mildly annoyed at most.

most bees are like that but if you swat at them or start squishing them they'll fight. essentially do it gently and with confidence as if that is Supposed to happen.
      ...I think...

So many bees and so much honey! Stubborn bees did not want to move into their new home 😂 Interesting to see the difference in hive removal technique between Japan and America.

Why weren't they concerned about getting the queen?

Would it have been easier to pull up the boards holding the comb. It would be in one piece, take them outside and transfer to new hive?

I noticed the bee keepers did not attempt to locate the queen is this normal.

Все таки шланги для пылесоса а тут Пчелососа нужно глаокие использовать. Чтобы они не бились внутри шланга о рёбра шланга.

I need the dimensions of your hives, please. I will pay a local carpenter to recreate these boxes as you described. I have considered Langstroth, Long Langstroth and Topbar hives for my project. As my staff or very small compared to my 110 kgs and 2 meters height, I think pile hives may be best.
What do you think the proper volume is for a A. Cerana nest? Where may I find proper plans for pile hives? Thank you for your time.
