I was MP in Gombak base (Mindef) from April 1990 to June 1992. I must say a good salute to the many who made the many many changes to MP training as I seen from the videos. I feel very happy and touch. It was so different from the old days. Even the old name "Provost" was dropped. I am glad that our SAF MP has become a more professional driven force now. I am proud of you.
@Vecise443, IMHO, having carried and fired both the M-16S1 and the SAR-21 assault rifles, I stick with the M-16 platform. The reason: the weight distribution is towards the front, which I feel is more effective for accurate shooting as the muzzle doesn't rise as much as a bullpup like the SAR-21. Also,I like how comfortable the M-16's trigger is with a more crisp break than the SAR-21 due to the sear/trigger group being located in front rather than behind. However, I would prefer the newer SAR-21 MMS that allows for modular mounting of red-dot sights, foregrips and 40mm grenade launchers, which would then shift the weight of the SAR-21 to the front. Of course, the good thing about the SAR-21 I like is the long-stroke gas piston operation is superior to the M-16/M4's direct impingement (DI) operation that fouls up the bolt assembly with soot. This makes the SAR-21 more reliable as it will not jam/malfunction as much. Personally, I don't feel much of a difference in weight between the 2 rifles, but the compact size of the SAR-21 is a plus point. Also, you cannot compare the M4/M4A1 carbine with the M-16 and SAR-21 as the M4 has a much shorter barrel length (14.5 inches) compared to the standard 20-inch barrel, which is most effective for 5.56mm rounds.
@SpecJack15 i believe sar 21 is more to an advantage due to the scope... its really hard to shoot without it.. i didnt shoot m16 however i did shoot SAW and GPMG its feel weird without scope... but i believe it depend on the user too...
The scope itself isn't that great, especially when shooting in low light conditions. I find the scope reticle lacking illumination of any kind and without bullet drop compensation, or BDC for short (which is strange for a magnified sight since the shooter would engage targets at longer ranges). It's not a reflex sight like the Aimpoint M68, but even magnified sights like the Trijicon ACOG have an illuminated chevron/triangle with markings for BDC to be used with standard 5.56x45mm rounds in a 20-inch barrel. You can tell the difference in the design of quality scopes by looking at the reticle, field-of-view, if it's adjustable for varying brightness, if the body is waterproof and shock-resistant. In my opinion, a Trijicon TA31 1.5-3.4x28mm scope works best for engaging targets up to 700m; more than enough for us in Singapore. And both the SAW and the larger 7.62x51mm-calibre GPMG are designed for suppressive fire, not precise shots like a rifle. Hence, it is only normal for these guns to not feature scopes.
Hi cyberpioneer, i have been watching most of your shows. Im wondering if you guys can make a show about RSAF OCS since there are shows on the Army and Navy OCS. Really hoping to get feedbacks from you.Thanks.
haa!!! FML... SAR 21 light and balance rifle, M16 is a little heavy for us asian. However when gears are mounted such as m203, I guess i comes to skill of a person.. lol P226 light compact and reliable?? well USP much relaible just that P226 much cheaper =.=''
P226 is lightweight? Ever heard of Glock? And P226 should be carried with a chambered round and decocked the hammer, the 1st round will be double action. This is much faster than pulling the slide in a case of emergency.
@2002tonypang Military Police Training School is run by WOSPEC there is no commission officer there such you see all the personnel sharing are all from MPTS. There are commission officers but not much. Most of them reserved for parades. @Dave Ang haha... very funny... MP drivers mostly come from Kranji Camp 3... They are well trained drivers... so not a problem
I'm sorry but they don't look intimidating at all MPs should be physically fit tall has a good posture and should do martial arts these guys look like highschool students wearing military uniforms and there arresting form was bad the only thing good here was the rifle drill which is also the most useless thing for an MP
Jiak liao bee unit might as well get yourself into clerk or driver better. At least those unit skills can be brought over to the civilian world once ORD.
"Self pride" as an MP. Sure i respect you guys but there's a big diff between "Self pride" and "Arrogance". I've seen my share of these guys during my time in tht god awful place. They leaned more to arrogance. Sure it's "discipline"..but whatever...just sayin.
I agree! A Glock's trigger is more consistent (striker-fired pistol vs. DA/SA) than a P226 or a Beretta M9. And also much lighter to carry due to the polymer slide and frame construction :)
Actually P226 is slightly better than glock. I don't want to argue which one is better, but it all comes down to personal preference. One thing I recommend is to use P228/P229 for its more compact size if SAF wants to stick to SIG.
mrcannotfindaname Definitely, everyone is entitled to their own preferences. However, it's important to note that compactness isn't everything in a sidearm. For one, a longer (thus, heavier) barrel and slide will actually aid in accuracy due to less muzzle rise when the handgun is fired. Also, the polygonal rifling featured in Glock pistols create a tighter gas seal than conventional "lands and grooves" rifling, which give the round an added boost in velocity. These features play an important role in the pistol's inherent accuracy, which is essential in the usage of such a small weapon platform. Of course, the weapon is only as effective as the person shooting it, so pistol marksmanship is vital.
SpecJack15 I agree to what you say. But consider the fact that in Singapore, the society is rather safe, you don't need a very accurate gun. Easy to carry and conceal should be the priority. I live in SG so I know. The police is still using revolvers. 1 thing I like the most about Glock is its ease of field striping and their interchangeable parts across different models. I still prefer P226, come on man, it's used by Navy Seal! :)
mrcannotfindaname True that, dude! The society here is very safe, because I live in S'pore as well! Just bringing a few points on the topic, due to this being Military Police who are pretty much one of the rare units in SAF who employ the use of pistols, apart from Commandos and other elite infantry :)

That warrant’s language skills made me laugh!
hahaha same. He is not the only one that sounds like this I have indian friends who speak with the slang and accent in the way too
All the military police does this the whole time?
Drop drop drop drop like grapes
They should spend more time on unarmed combat. These drills are for performance and NDPs, not much use.

At 1:35, the presenter refers to the 'Mark 4 rifle'; sorry for being pedantic, butI believe it's the No 4, Mark 1.

Just asking people who have been to ns, which is better? M16/m4 or the sar 21?
P226 is lightweight? Ever heard of Glock? And P226 should be carried with a chambered round and decocked the hammer, the 1st round will be double action. This is much faster than pulling the slide in a case of emergency.
Why all the Platoon Commanders featured were non-commissioned officers? No commissioned officers in MP Command meh?
@2002tonypang Military Police Training School is run by WOSPEC there is no commission officer there such you see all the personnel sharing are all from MPTS. There are commission officers but not much. Most of them reserved for parades.

5kg? Let me try....
Quick question: How long exactly does it take to learn the rifle drills?
there are 21 basic drills that u will also get to learn if you are in ncc pds team
the same style with Taiwan's MP.
Ouh, i wasn't aware SSG Ong Kah Keat has been promoted. Hmm.
Now he either 3Wo or dxo cause I saw his name in the intranet email contact list without rank. Here is his fb facebook.com/OngKKAnthony
those moves looks similar to Aikido to me

So all ncc pds will kena post to mp
No lah
Nerds army..too many glasses. It's look like military lover club in high school
This is the most relaxed vocation in the saf. People who signed on to Military Police are there to further their studies in part time degree
Jiak liao bee unit might as well get yourself into clerk or driver better. At least those unit skills can be brought over to the civilian world once ORD.
Aiya stop complaining that ncc pds better cos those school boys hold wooden rifles leh. MP then hold the real thing...
