Had to do this the other day. Was in survival mode (it was that windy a Wayfarer had capsized) and big waves. Saw it on one of your videos Joe got us out of trouble that day thank you!!!
Nice work! I'm glad that it got you out of trouble.
It’s funny……I use to do that 20 years ago on a Prindle 18. Your videos will help a bunch. Going to pick up a Nacra 5.8 on Saturday. Have back up plan for a Hobie 16 if the first falls through. Your videos are so informative! Thanks
Yes!!! I'm very pleased for you that you're getting back in the game.
I hope that the 5.8 looks sharp!
This is great! I wish I would have know this for my last 5 years of sailing a hobie
I'm glad that it helps, although a little late/
Buenos días . Muchas gracias Joy por tener la amabilidad de contestarme. Aunque sigo sin encontrar un video tuyo con subtítulos en español. un saludo y mucho viento.
Understood.
I will start going through the videos today, checking and adding subtitles.
I may be some time.....
Ha ha ha what the Hell was the gear cutaway with the rotating human? .... That was great, didn't expect that! 😂👍
😁glad that you liked it. Took ages to build that turntable
Thar Hobie looks the business!
Thanks! I think that orange Tramp is really popping!
Thx for charing your knowledge, have a nice day
Thanks, you too!
Hi Joe - thanks for your content mate it a great resource- a little unrelated to this one; can you do a quick vid that shows us spinnaker dousing line threading for an H tiger 18 pls - I don’t want to f this up:)
Yes, I can certainly do that.
I'll see if I can do it in the next days.
In the meantime - here's an older video showing the method: ruclips.net/video/qQjv-eB-LQw/видео.html
I wonder if you could show this tack with more of an emergency situation? I am not sure whether you keep the main sheet clamped or not in your example. Thanks!
what would be the nature of the emergency situation?
@@JoyriderTV High wind and short waves that stop the cat from 'sliding though the tack'. Where I sail I allways have these short waves (ijsselmeer) and they make the static tack necessary all the time.
Hi, this seems exactely what I meant some time ago in a response. The other day all of a sudden it did not work. I wondered why. I was sailing with quite some wind and with very difficult waves (short waves on the ijsselmeer, a very big lake). Now watching your video it seems that my mistake this time was to release the jib while tacking. Than it does not work. I sail with different people a lot so I am not allways conscious of their different styles of dealing with the jib and so I did not understand what was going on. It was quite a problematic situation, the brain does not always function that well under stress. Thanks again!
Yes, keeping the jib cleated until the boat starts moving forward really helps.
@@JoyriderTV Moving forward or backward you mean?
@@daanvangeijlswijk7787 i'd keep it cleated until the boat is sailing forwards
Thanks for your videos!
But how is it different from a regular tack?
I'll talk about this in the Q+A tomorrow.
Hola, campeón ¡¡ Me encantan tus videos pero estaría bien que también los subtitulases en español. Gracias por tus videos.
I usually do subtitle them in Spanish.
I will check this one.
I just checked: There should be Spanish subtitles on here.
I guess that's one more way to cook a goose...
It's all about the flavour
