Hallelujah! Finally someone gets it. I'm a retired RN and learned along time ago, that I don't care what other people think. I do what I love to do. I no longer sit at a computer screen to see what everyone is doing on Facebook. I don't want that sort of drama in my life. I don't subscribe to X or TicTok. I watch certain shows on RUclips or read. I'm happy. I care for my pets and love my family. I do give to charity a few times a year, but nothing that would break me at the bank. But most of all, I'm happy just being me.
I’ve been trying to get that through to my husband(he’s a people pleaser). The last day of 10 grade(1998) I was done with what people thought of me. I told him the only persons opinion I value is his. I think he’s slowly coming around.
It's too bad the nursing industry has become rife with people who care NOTHING about their job. You all really do deserve to be paid better... but if nurses were paid better, the problem would only get worse... much the same as teachers, doctors, and politicians.
Driver I don’t think nurses need to be paid better. Nurses already are one of the highest paying jobs in my valley. Hospital is already super expensive. If you really think they all deserve to be paid better then you better make sure poor farmers and welders etc also get paid better so they then can afford more expensive nurses services at the more expensive hospitals. I have friend that asked for money so I sent some. I used tk live in the Philippines. Anyways my friend in the Philippines gave birth and it costed $300. Sure a lot of nurses get paid less in the Philippines be so do farmers etc. but still $300 for delivering a baby is way way more affordable for a Filipino I think than what most Americans go through if they don’t have insurance.
Driver Also when I watched Dan pena a Mexican American that now lives in a castle in England he sort of showed why hospitals are the way they are. He did some private equity deals and his lawyer was like wow that’s a lot of money when the business was sold. Pena said you’ll never make good money as a lawyer so he helped him start and mimic his process. The lawyer went and got investors and bought up some hospitals and started making them big. That was decades ago but private equity made it so they got rid of lots of nurses. I remember one big issue in 2020 or after wasn’t the number of beds. I remember I think hearing some hospitals had more beds but had limited number of nurses cause they had cut down on costs. Probably honestly depends on which private equity group owns the hospital. But the local hospital by me is a non profit. But they waste a lot of money to. They bought a house near the hospital and tore it down. They then put up a giant hospital sign haha. It’s like well I guess they’re trying to mimic the big hospitals up north.
@koltoncrane3099 - even with insurance, it's expensive. My wife has the 2nd best coverage in the country... and it cost us $12k out-of-pocket for our first birth, and $14k for the last one.
I didn’t think I could be a bigger Mike Rowe fan…..but here I am. This content was so hopeful and encouraging. At 72 years young, I want to believe this so badly. For some reason, we as a country have turned over the megaphones to a very vocal minority and instead of nodding along to get along, we must stand up for our common sense, patriotic and long held beliefs. Mike, you are truly a gift to America and I hope many will view this and stand up. As a p.s., I adore your coffees with your mom. My son and I have a similar, humorous and loving relationship and I treasure that.
I have long held beliefs as well, as a 30 year old. And we would probably agree on some and disagree on others. My issue is that the Republicans & Democrats have an incredibly tit for tat mentality where even if legislation would improve the lives of millions of people, let’s just prevent that from going through because we haven’t gotten what we want yet. If something critically important (healthcare, children, elderly) would require a small tax increase it will be fought against no matter what the actual effect is because of who really runs the country. People who claim to understand the root cause of an issue without doing research are part of this too. It’s a never ending frustration. There shouldn’t be sides, but people are quick to take them. And that’s it, no more ranting from me lol
Thank you for putting this out there! I love that my junior in HS has the opportunity to take college classes at the same time as finishing is high school at no cost to is. That being said he is not taking the classes to get a degree he is taking classes to earn his electrician certifications so he can go right into an apprenticeship upon graduating HS. However the trade classes are so limited in our area that he has to drive 40 minutes each way to get to school everyday. But there is no way I was going to let that stand in the way of him giving it a try!
Congratulations! My two Gen Z kids are in the skilled trades, in their mid-twenties, and doing GREAT. Both of them are not only well-employed by companies that really appreciated them, but they also already own their own homes and have started families with loving spouses who are supportive. WE are the majority, and the current insanity will eventually blow over as people realize that the whole thing was a smokescreen by a toxic few.
Dirty jobs was an amazing show. Great discussion guys thanks. If only I could learn to articulate my thoughts better. Your discussion gives a great synopsis of issues we are facing. Don't be a sheep folks be brave and try to be calm when that bravery comes out.
The silent majority hasn't gone anywhere, we just don't have time to chat on X. It's a little like protests... only people without jobs can spend their time protesting during the week and then the news media amplifies these opinions as if "everyone" thinks the same way
I would rather judge what is going on by getting out in the world and seeing what is going on with my own eyes! The truth is out there, you just have to get out there to see it and have enough critical thinking skills to understand what you are seeing.
It’s called censorship. 581k subscribers with roughly 114k views and even less likes. Y’all do the math on that one. I like RUclips but hate their censorship to the point of just getting rid of it. I don’t have Facebook or any other social platforms and this makes my head hurt most of the time. The problems we have now simply didn’t exist when I was younger neither did social platforms and cell phones that you could hide behind to criticize your neighbors. You had to examine your thoughts before you opened your mouth and you didn’t have a cellphone to gaze into like a magic mirror to solve your problems and inundate yourself with everyone else’s. Keep your children off the cellphone and internet, go back to church, seek the true and living God and quit making yourself a god as we are not.
This is absolutely correct, go out and talk to your neighbors, it’s No where near as divided as people are led to believe. Don’t be afraid to speak up respectfully as you’d be surprised how many people actually agree with you. All these things we see and hear about via media is about 98% bs. Stay off social media as much as you can, it’ll change your outlook.
This video is BS. I've talked to my neighbors long enough to know that 98% of them are cowards to the bone, and their opinions depend completely on which way the wind is blowing at the moment. It's actually the opposite of what this video claims. The vast majority can barely be bothered to vote, let alone hold a realistic opinion of what's going on in the world. Even those who claim to be 'conservative' watch cnn and would never know the difference. If there were an once of truth to this video, our world would look vastly different than it does, because people would quickly figure out that most of them think alike. It's hard to hide from such similarities of thinking.
In a world that feels like it's gone mad- this discussion gives me hope. I truly wish every American would or could watch this. Thank you gentlemen! Mike and Tod- you are both great Americans!
Respect why is it so hard to understand I grew up at a time when you didn’t shout out to the world (I demand respect) you earned it. I have worked all kinds of jobs in my lifetime and when I was given a job I respected that person for giving me the opportunity to give them the best I could and in return I got respect from them. I have never been fired from a job or left unannounced but with respect gave notice with reason. I always felt like I could go back to that job and be rehired because of the respect that I showed them. No one owes us anything least of all our govt our parents no one. We reap what we sow and we sow to gain at least that’s how I was taught and I listened. It didn’t make me financially rich but it has been so satisfying to see my family grow and follow the example that was passed on to me being passed on to my grandchildren. It can be changed but it starts with the parents not the schools respect is earned by giving the same.
Last week, my sister proudly announced that my nephew has decided to enroll to train as a Firefighter/EMT. Our whole family is excited and proud. 😊 oh and he is only 16.
An important part of making this change happen is beginning to show respect to the people doing jobs that we think we don't want. We're all in this together and we need to communicate that every day.
Not everyone wants to pay the outrageous costs of college or can afford to. That kind of debt always hanging over your head can make you a very unhappy person. I am so glad that someone is bringing back skilled work education opportunities!
They're not worried anymore. They'll just vote for the guy that lets them borrow money without having to pay it back. And democrats will be happy to oblige.
I see this at work. They redid all of the office space to “open concept”. So many emails and stories on the website about how wonderful it is. Yet no one I’ve talked to enjoys it. They all prefer the normal cubicle layout.
No doubt. There's probably a very specific domain and personality type that benefits from an open office layout. My hunch is that it is something like extroverts working in marketing. These people would also have the "loudest" voice when it comes to influencing how people work. Then you get an office full of introverted accountants whos clueless boss makes them all miserable by following the trend hyped up by the sales and marketing department.
@@robwhitesays extroversion is a pretty widely accepted personality dimension of the Big Five trait scale. Peterson et al. have broke those down into 10 aspects of the Big Five (cited over 1000 times by now, which means it's highly regarded in psychology). Google the paper and read it yourself. Extroversion is comprised of enthusiasm and assertiveness. I have taken the test (paid) so my results can be considered accurate. My extraversion is 97 with enthusiasm of 70 and assertiveness of 95. I do fine in such social settings. Others do not, due to well-established reasons determined through years of observation. The test and its questions are designed to show a normal distribution (bell curve) across a random sampling for each aspect/trait score. I'm more extraverted than 97 out of 100 people, for example. Back to the point: people low in extraversion and its two aspects must have alone time and solitude to be productive. It depends on their other personality trait scores. If they're high in neuroticism, they won't be able to focus in a work environment like an open office space. They won't be able to multitask. A quick google search yielded a paper on that: "The Association between High Neuroticism-Low Extraversion and Dual-Task Performance during Walking While Talking in Non-demented Older Adults" The researchers found exactly what I just said (it goes even deeper than being productive at work, though). There is an extreme decline in productivity and ability to multitask for a person with such a personality. So why would you put someone like that in an open office environment or dismiss their personality as being fake? Other traits combinations have different problems, especially when they have to work in close physical proximity to incompatible personalities. But there is no point in going into detail on it, because you've demonstrated a reductionist and dismissive attitude toward the science of psychology. You can learn about it yourself by checking Peterson's lectures via youtube or google search with the keywords: "ten aspects of the big five personality traits". There are biological reasons for these differences that are well-established. It's not something that you can change in someone. And for good reason. Society is balanced because of the differences. People that are in charge of enacting policy need to be aware of this stuff. It's common sense. And common knowledge for those that have compassion for others. Compassion is one of the aspects of agreeableness. I'm going to guess that yours is very low. Along with openness (to new ideas, which includes aesthetics and intellect). But that's okay, because you're probably high in extraversion and conscientiousness, and low in neuroticism. If that's accurate, you'd be good at running a business or being a CEO or working in sales. I don't think you'd do well in a role that required compassion or abstraction of ideas. But who knows. I'm just basing if off your dismissive attitude for others. Take the test yourself.
Mike I just want to thank you for being such a honest and open person. I grew up watching science channel and discovery and Dirty Jobs was a regular for me and I always loved it. Not only did it show the importance of such jobs but also you portrayed it in a light that is enjoyable and meaningful at the same time. Bravo sir bravo

I have, and continue to, present facts, with proof, that counters the narrative. As often as not, I am heckled and deluged with "talking points" that are shown to be false in my proofs. There is *no cure* for the "willfully ignorant".
Not a fan of the Instagram or the Twitter so glad I chose to watch this, it's what I've always believed anyway the loud mouth gets the attention the squeaky wheel gets the oil we just need to squeak louder than they do!! love everyone & fairness to all❤ thank you for pointing this out 😊
I appreciate Todd's conviction regarding the school system and how it needs to be transformed. Unfortunately, the State (and the Federal Government) are too deeply enmeshed in the public education system. The inertia that comes with having such a large, incompetent body be at the steering wheel means we can't transform it tomorrow, or next year, or even the next 5. Maybe 10 years from now? we will see. The first step is getting kids out of the Maoist indoctrination camps that public schools currently are and teach them another way.
This has been my train of thought for many years. It's frustrating to see the world the way it is now, but I remain hopeful. Another interesting thought I recently heard and I believe rings true is, "You may know enough about a subject to believe you're right, but not enough to know you're wrong. Thank you Mike for bringing this to light.
better than any of the current candidates. but im voting 3rd party this year because the "accepted" political parties cant put out "candidates" i want to vote for.
The importance of histroy is we can learn from it. We don't have to be stuck in the ruts we're forced into. I have an amazing life doing things that many say can't be done. I make lots of things from junk, and have fun doing it. As Larry Elder says "We have a country to save"
I haven't been on social media for ten years only RUclips to much drama 😂😂 keep on doing what your doing mike love you're channel been subscribe for a long time
honestly, you haven't missed much at all.. pretty much all of social media is a festering cesspool. but Mike's and a few other channels present the facts and encourage us to make our own conclusions not be spoon fed a narrative. Peace
I don't use TicTok, Facebook & don't care what "others think". I'm a red-blooded, conservative American who has always worked with my hands & am not any happier than when repairing engine/transmissions. Love dirty jobs!
I graduated with 1000 masters students that cannot understand Mike’s vernacular because we need to import people into our learning environment. I love the you speak at college level an challenge your listeners to understand and keep up.
I have been praying for weeks for God to help our congress to get back on a moral path. I was not praying for them to become religious. I received a message, STAND UP. It is my place to speak out about wrongness not wait for others to do so in my stead.
No one's going to "get back" on a moral path without becoming religious. Human nature doesn't work that way. It would be like asking someone to "get back" to a hobby they never had any interest in to begin with. Morality comes from religiosity, [no matter what anyone says] because there is ZERO reason or motivation for it otherwise.
Thank you so much for this sanity check! All around me I see people with my same values and beliefs, but I don't see ANY of those things reflected in the legacy media or in any of th snippets of social media I come across (I don't personally have any social media accounts except for RUclips). It's refreshing to see that my small corner of my community is probably the majority view; I always believed that in my heart, but it's nice to see that I am right! Great video and keep up the great work!

Excellent! Love this episode (and the others I've seen). Social media has some redeeming qualities (connecting distanced friends and family), but it is largely a form of dull entertainment and cheap platform to exercise the ego. I feel that it has done far more harm than good. Thanks Mike for all that you do!

It has always been and always will be a matter of self interest. Whether it is based on, belief, faith or science. This opens the entire idea for 'collective illusions'. Keep up the good work!
What a great discussion, loved Dirty Jobs, should make more. Agree there should be shop class, art and add life skills like budget, critical thinking and civics class!
Very interesting. I would just suggest that it's not only important to humbly, respectfully, and honestly express your option, it is important that it is your opinion and not just what you think others want to hear. You are not paying dues to get into some club or fraternity/sorority. You are provided feedback while contributing to an honest discussion. That is where the 1st amendment plays such a vital role. Thanks for this episode Mike and Todd. Very informative. It explains a lot.
I am not a group think kinda guy, I like the oddball opinion people have of me. It allows me to not care when I do something dumb (I still care I did something dumb) but no one else cares. Before opening this studio, I worked on the railroad, build businesses (construction) worked in the logistics of oversized loads... ...I have always been the wired guy. This video proves why I have so little stress. BE AUTHENTIC TO YOURSELF, and others.
Case in point: at the time, a future pro basketball player was allowed to graduate from high school with a third grade reading level… presumably because he could play ball well. Parents need to be involved with their kids education.
@williamwenrich3288 Well, if you graduate HS, then get accepted to any collage and can't read that's a pretty big red flag as to how useless the school system is.
I know! There are men and women who graduated from Harvard and Princeton and they hardly know anything! They can barely balance their bank accounts or go to the grocery store. Paying bills? Nope, they struggle with that as well. When are their parents going to learn not to bribe the college dean for a diploma.
Yes, my favorite memories of school was shop class. Getting to use your hands to make something and having a teacher teach you how to make it with a lot of pushing to make it better. My favorite was my wood shop teacher was he had a paddle in case you were a problem. He used it on me and it broke, then he made me make a new one. With his instruction I made a new one that was better than the old one. A lesson that I have followed my whole life. Do it better than before.
Mike, just want to let you know that, in my personal opinion, watching "Dirty Jobs" was some of the best use of my limited TV watching time. It reminded me that our very civilization rests on the backs of the people who build and maintain our infrastructure, our food production and distribution networks, and our recreation facilities. You are a wonderful presenter, and something about your style brings the stories you tell so much "to life" that watching Dirty Jobs is almost as good as being there with you and the production crew. And I don't have to risk getting bit by any snakes or attacked by an evil monkey. Keep up the good work!
I'd listen to Mike Rowe reading a phone book. (for those who don't know, a phone book was a large, depending on your area, book that listed, that's right, everyone's phone number)
My general rule has always been "never ascribe to malice what can be best explained by stupidity". However, in this case, I believe that malice or a better word Intent is more probable. I remember when PC was becoming popular in the lexicon. Looking back on that, I have come to realize that the intent back then was to suppress certain ideas and beliefs as not "correct thinking" . There was one sign i remember distinctly, " there is nothing politically correct that isn't morally correct". This was in a high school that had signage like this everywhere. The place was so shallow that if you spilled a thimble full of water in the hall, the place would have flooded. The bad part was that everyone in that school knew that the statement was horribly wrong. This has progressed from PC to speech codes, cancel culture, to the direct suppression of ideas that are not "mainstream". There was only one problem, people are starting to wake up. Covid exposed any trust in the elites to be foolish, and played the average person as a sucker. While the elites still try and push people around, it is becoming virtually impossible for them to do so. No one is buying it any more, and the damage is done. One has only to look at Riley Gaines to see how far the elitist has fallen. More and more women are rising up to protect their rights in sports to not be competing with men. People like J.K Rowling are speaking out, and common sense is starting to make headway. I hope that your guest is right, and that there will be many inflection points to push against the many collective illusions we are experiencing now. One can only hope.
Safety Third ~ THE Two Words that Mike already nailed it with in identifying this supposed "collective" mentality being broadcast By A MINORITY. Which in this case in the 10-20% on tik tok Corollary: Every Time Ewe See, Hear, Or Read The Words Safety First, Your Independence Is Being Threatened. Self Preservation Comes First ~ At ANY And ALL Cost. 🧨🧨 Further Eye Sayeth Not.
Unfortunately at least in North Carolina it is more divided... I graduated high school in 1990 as a Caucasian that went to an 87% black high school and there was no racism we were all the best of friends and now you can see the hate in the black man's eyes towards Caucasians the news has convinced 6% of the population that it's a good idea to take on 80%
We are not as divided as we seem. What I see is a very large majority of people stuck between two very small, very vocal groups of extremists (left and right) that the Media love to give a podium to voice their lunacy.
Hi Mike. You bring so much to the table. Real work. Real interactions. Face to face human relations that mean something. Our core to being human. To connect ❤
This makes total sense. I'm always saying that I rarely seem to run across these wackos that I see/hear on social media on a daily basis. MOST of the people you encounter are decent, common sense people.
I would love nothing more than to believe all of this, that it really is only a vocal 10% that's caused so much damage, but then I see the way people vote, and... It seems like a lot more than 10%.
This video is pure BS in my experience. And I have always made a habit of asking people pointed questions because I have an undying curiosity to know how people think. And it's not even in the ball park of this guys claims. I don't know where he's getting his data, but I don't think it comes from personally talking to many people. The vast majority of people are straws in the wind, and want so bad to be liked they will parrot whatever they think is the most popular view at the moment. They are also EXTREMELY non-committal in their opinions. Especially today, because the air is so thick with strife and disagreement and the threat of being called a "bigot". Most people fear being called names more than anything else. Why else would we have a political class with no backbone whatsoever? If so many people had such firm opinions about the world, why won't a single damn one of them run for political office [other than Trump]? Well ok, so let's say they have a secret personal opinion. What the hell good is that, if they don't have the nerve to stand up for it?
Both my my kids went to a high school that had college and vocational classes. Both kids took vocational as well as college classes. One has a degree in nuclear engineering, the other is a veterinarian. Both use things that they learned in shop class. It's funny how a lot of things you see on You Tube is so out there. But the people you meet in general think like you do.
Your 100% spot on, we are WAAAAAYYYY overdue for a revolution. It's required to realign every society every 100 years or so, they all need a reset as they drift and are corrupted from their original design and intent. This never happens automatically, it has to be chosen and implemented on purpose. If not, the society becomes massively degenerate and corrupt, eats itself and collapses, see Rome, and dozens of others throughout history.
People say Mike for Trump's VP. I think he would make an awesome labor secretary. With the experience he has in experiencing different jobs, there is no one better. Definitely better than those with so-called degrees and readers of issues. Experience is definitely better!
I'd say Mike for POTUS and let Trump ride off into the sunset. I think Trump is great but he can't deliver a functional Presidency and/or domestic peace. Not because he isn't capable but because the media/political/intelligence machine wont allow it. They'd probably villainize Mike in the same way they did Trump. Everybody loved Trump before 2015.
No college is not right for everybody, but at the same time don't discount it either. I never wanted to go to college but through a series of happy accidents I wound up in college anyways. It was the right thing for me. There is no one single right answer for anything.
My k-12 I remember most home ec, wood shop, metal shop than sitting in a classroom and I went on to become a pharmacist. My kids did not experience any of real life.
I run a small Nursery and Garden Show .. not much money, but the work is rewarding in other ways. We use You Tube as the main advertising platform, because it allows us to interact with customers before and after sales, and that means that I spend all too much time in community chat rooms, listening to what people really think .. and I do believe *Todd is right.* I call my audience "Good People", because that is what most of us are .. even if we won't admit it to ourselves, sometimes.
Perhaps I misunderstand some of Todd's point regarding college not being as much a priority. I'll agree the virus that can't be named impacted students at the time, but not now. It appears to be the political climates of these institutions which are turning more and more people off. Schools no longer want to teach useful knowledge and skills to develop engineers, scientists, health care/doctors, etc. Mike's drum beating regarding jobs using those degrees is spot on. Out of the 20 closest people I know who went to college and graduated, 1 got a job in that field. And no, none of those 20 took a useless course of study- all were a branch of science or engineering.

I knew it!
My values are not the minority!
This is why I take long breaks from social media
While you are off somewhere, the people who control social media, and have hijacked our institutions, are imposing tyranny on you. Enjoy your break.
The News is probably the most divisive .
I just don't have a facebook . . . I've never wished I could go back in time and get one!
Very happy to be in total disagreement with the trolls! Way to go, Mike! You da man!
The silent majority hasn't gone anywhere, we just don't have time to chat on X. It's a little like protests... only people without jobs can spend their time protesting during the week and then the news media amplifies these opinions as if "everyone" thinks the same way
💯🎯
social media constitutes a small minority of the general population. wake TF up!
This comment needs to be pinned at the top. ❤ It.
I would rather judge what is going on by getting out in the world and seeing what is going on with my own eyes! The truth is out there, you just have to get out there to see it and have enough critical thinking skills to understand what you are seeing.
How have I never seen Mike Rowe on RUclips until right now!!! Omg i absolutely LOVE you!!! I would listen to you read me my rights with a smile

@@ericwiese7479 well you may have a few more years on me but my dad introduced me to dirty jobs and we never missed an episode when it was on!
You've been missing out...
This is absolutely correct, go out and talk to your neighbors, it’s
No where near as divided as people are led to believe.
Apprenticeships are important, choosing a path isn’t easy, but education has nothing to do with memorizing what everyone else all ready knows.
Really good segment. Thank you!!
Last week, my sister proudly announced that my nephew has decided to enroll to train as a Firefighter/EMT. Our whole family is excited and proud. 😊 oh and he is only 16.
This is fantastic. It confirms what I've thought my whole 66 years: we know how to educate but we simply do not DO IT.
Brilliant. No more needs to be said. Sending this to my entire family.
A quick google search yielded a paper on that: "The Association between High Neuroticism-Low Extraversion and Dual-Task Performance during Walking While Talking in Non-demented Older Adults"
The researchers found exactly what I just said (it goes even deeper than being productive at work, though).
It's a control freak's paradise.
Narcissists would benefit.
Mike I just want to thank you for being such a honest and open person. I grew up watching science channel and discovery and Dirty Jobs was a regular for me and I always loved it. Wow, I really loved this video about "collective illusions"!
Well done, Mr. Mike Rowe!
Great video Mike.
Please keep up the great work - we really need to have more conversations like this.

Love this episode (and the others I've seen). Social media has some redeeming qualities (connecting distanced friends and family), but it is largely a form of dull entertainment and cheap platform to exercise the ego. I feel that it has done far more harm than good.

Brilliant presentation here. Indeed everyone should see this.
Great information, insightful observations, and refreshing outlook.
It allows me to not care when I do something dumb (I still care I did something dumb) but no one else cares. ...I have always been the wired guy. This video proves why I have so little stress.
BE AUTHENTIC TO YOURSELF, and others.
One of the reasons that a college degree (any degree) became important was that a high school diploma didn’t guarantee that the student could read.
Case in point: at the time, a future pro basketball player was allowed to graduate from high school with a third grade reading level… presumably because he could play ball well. Parents need to be involved with their kids education.
So if they couldn't read, how the hell are they gonna go to college? All it is is reading!!!!
@@Random-bm7ho remedial English and Mathematics.
This is an incredible view point. Thank you for sharing this discussion.

Fantastic discussion. Thank you for putting this out.
Thank you both for saying what needs to be said ❤

We are not as divided as we seem. What I see is a very large majority of people stuck between two very small, very vocal groups of extremists (left and right) that the Media love to give a podium to voice their lunacy.

Can we add DEI to the list of things companies think are desired, but aren't?

It's required to realign every society every 100 years or so, they all need a reset as they drift and are corrupted from their original design and intent.
This never happens automatically, it has to be chosen and implemented on purpose.
