Being a huge college football fan…I think the NIL is hurting college football. My personal opinion is if the kids want to get paid then need to sign a contract and be obligated (say two years) to remain at the school. They (the football player) has all the leverage and the schools are held trying to field a team. Not to mention us as fans wanting to support our favorite team.

I agree that Dowdell was not a Break away threat. Looked like he was gone on that run in the 3rd game and he completely ran out of steam. His longest run of the season 38 yards. I think he would have improved allot in his second year with the team though. That being said, Emmett Johnson should have started all season and he probably would have had at least around thirteen hundred yards rushing.

He averaged over 4 yards a carry, id take that all day long, idc if he can break a long run... Few rbs can in the big 10. When was the last time we had a fast agile guy stay healthy all year? Ameer?

@@unbiasedboxingtalk8984 I'd say Devine Ozigbo who should have started for 3 Seasons, maybe even as a true Freshman. Never understood why he wasn't getting more playing time. Should have had a great career. Only started part of his Senior year. They kept waiting for Newby to break out and he never did as far as I'm concerned. Dude was a bust that we stuck with for some unknown reason. Overhyped coming out of High School. Had some decent games, but was far from an elite Back.

It's hard for me to describe how I feel about this. I want him to stick around. But I think EJ is the number 1 RB option next year. So I don't think this is a HUGE loss. I think the Rb room of Johnson, Lacy and Parker excits me more than Johnson Dowdell and Parker. I think im most sad, because Dowdell could have played with us for a few more years. But, maybe he just doesn't fit Dana Holgerson's offense style. And I can't be mad at him for looking elsewhere

This has been going on for years regardless of the coaches. The best Back is sitting on the Bench. Ozigbo was clearly better than Newby in every way. Bigger, Stronger, more powerful. More moves, likely every bit as fast. Probably would have run for well over 3,000 career yards if he had started at least a couple of seasons and not just half of his Senior year. I'm still unhappy about Yant leaving and that was two years ago. Even before that I was upset when Marvin Scott left. Mo Washington could have been great.

It's embarrassing how many of them are absolute complete busts who never did a thing at Nebraska. The bust rate of Nebraska kids is ridiculously high. It's great to want Nebraska kids the facts are they overwhelmingly fricking suck and kill our ability to turn things around because they produce little for as many as we give scholarships too. Especially the Omaha kids. I mean Rhule has gone hard after Nebraska kids with scholarships and like 50% of them are already gone and most of the rest are doing absolutely nothing. I swear there are so many Husker fans who live in fantasy land. Their takes don't match reality and the truth, facts, of what's going on in the program.

Thought he was going to be petty good. Is he in the portal now? Man, the number of Backs who just up and left over the past 3 seasons has been crazy. Did any of them do much elsewhere? Marvin Scott, Sevion Morrison, Allen, Marques Step, Jacquez Yant, Ishia Harris? That isn't even all of them. Figured that Gabe Irvin wouldn't be Back after sparse playing time. No surprise there. Morrison played a fair amount as a Sophomore at Kansas. I was high on Marvin Scott. I thought he looked Husker great like Ken Clark.

Maybe they can work in some plays with him in the Bowl game, because Boston College wouldn't know what to expect from the kid at all. They won't be keying on him. He's gone from 180 pounds to 215 on his 6"3" frame so I'm anxious to see what he can do. Definitely has worked hard to get bigger and stronger just based on those numbers alone. I was surprised how big he looked in the Spring game, and he through a big block on one play. Great looking young athlete with gobs of potential. Just needs game experience.

This program is a mess. Too many losses and not enough top end elite additions for this staff to ever turn the corner and become a conference contender and playoff contender. Rhule is really struggling with increasing the talent level at Nebraska. Alot of the recruits he has signed and transfer additions are gone. Rhule's hit rate is atrocious so far. This program marches on as a pretender. This program just refuses to get out of its own way. Doing what ever it takes to win is not the top priority. We are not a top 5 let-alone top 10 NIL program. Yet our AD Dept and fan base still viewed the Big Red as a college football blue blood program. We are on year 25 of waiting for next year and always over estimating the actual talent level in the program. Just go look at all conference teams and NFL draft results the last 5-10 years to see the reality of how pathetic our actual talent level is and continues to be.

Dowdell is good. He's super fast, the problem is, he is unable to throttle back and maneuver into holes. He is just 1000% straight ahead as fast as he can go. You can only do this if the line can open huge holes consistently. Dowdell even has issues getting away from a lone safety. He tries to run them over. I hate to see him go, but I'm good if he wants to pursue other options. EJ and RJ can handle it.

Not every running back needs to have elite speed. Look at the last 2 Heisman RB winners, Derrick Henry and Mark Ingram. Not track stars…

@@WilsonDittmanSports Going way back, Rozier didn't have blazing top end speed. Neither did Roger Craig. Although both were faster than allot of people think. Depends on what you consider fast. There 40 times were not eye popping rather Electronic or Hand-held. However, on the football field they were about as quick, fast and explosive as most anybody. Both had awesome balance and tremendous acceleration. They could take it the distance on any play. Different time and different offense, but either would be just as great today as they were back then. Ken Clark wasn't super fast either, but he was very physical like Mike and Roger and had great balance. Plus he could cut and had a strong burst off the cut like they did as well. Rozier's sweet feet made up for any lack of top end speed. Jon Kelley was faster than any of these Husker legends, thereabouts as fast as Irving Fryar, and he never started a game at Nebraska. I always thought he probably would have been an All American someplace else.

@WilsonDittmanSports um we are all going to need a numerical roster in our hands to watch this bowl game to have a clue who's actually playing. This is getting ridiculous for one of the highest paid coaches in CFB. Rhule has just lost way to many of his highschool players signed, sucked at the transfer portal period. Yes he signed a nice class with 11 4 star. But he negates it all with so many starters, second teamers, valuable depth players saying peace out. He just lost his #1 producer of TD's and his offense has struggled his entire time at Neb getting TD's. I get Dana doesn't like his fit...that said this is where you pay the price for shitting the bed on Marcus Satterfield and the original staff Rhule hired which looks really bad right now. Your starting over losing too much talent where what your bring in is just treading water. I'm sorry when you get paid as an elite CFB coach you deserve to be judged accordingly on your body of work at Nebraska not Baylor or Temple. Rhule is flat out not delivering like one of the highest paid coaches in CFB should....and I'm not listening to the it takes time bullshit excuse this program has been spinning for 25 years. You are what you are a pretender. This new round of coaches & AD staff are just more of the same. Our NIL isn't good enough to be a blue blood. Let's face it this program is what their actions are which is a bottom tier power conference program proven now for decades.

Nebraska only had three players enter the portal last cycle. You don't know what you're talking about.

    • @mattanderson9689
      @mattanderson9689 16 часов назад

@thejoshpresle yes Rhule had very minimal transfer portal guys that left last off-season that's a fact. He even talked about how good his culture was which produced very little transfers last off-season.
Well that wore off. Ruhle shit the bed on his original staff he hired and is now paying the price. His OC demoted because he sucked, WR coach removed from the staff because he sucked, RB coach gone, his best coaching hire Tony White left for no pay increase or job title increase because Tony can see the cracks, his best position coach Terrance Knighton left, his DB coach gone.
Now his culture has cracks and that's evident in losing a lot of starters and high contributors saying peace out. The coaches they signed with their OC & DC & position coaches are gone. And that's the positions your seeing most of the transfers at RB, WR, Dline, pass rush, secondary. The oline coach Raiola isn't experiencing transfers because he offers stability.
Players don't like having to learn new schemes a year or two in. Players don't like building relationships then the guy they are close with either sucks or leaves.
Rhule is experiencing a abnormally high amount of good contributors leave this off-season that's just FACTS. His culture is not as stable as it started out that's just FACTS that is evident in last off-season's retention rate vs this off-season.
Rhule already inherited a program with major depth deficiency problems. To be successful and turn the corner at Nebraska there is little room for error. In many ways he's starting over on his coaching staff and paying a huge price for it. Yes he added 11 4 star recruits this class great job on that. That said it's offset by the amount of good contributors who have said yeah this isn't what I signed up for.
Nebraska also is dealing with the fact they want to be a blue blood program but do not play the NIL pay for play like an Ohio St, Georgia etc. Those schools embrace NIL head on and open up the wallet. You can easily Google the fact Ohio St spends $20m per year on its football roster and they are proud of and willing to talk about it.
Nebraska hides there NIL numbers. They get on media members who divulge the figures. Nebraska tries to limit the amount of truth that gets out about their skeletons. An example. @WilsonDittnanSports reported accurate information he received about Marcus Satterfield and just how bad of a hire he was, how many players disliked him, and Marcus was playing favorites with playing time vs playing the player who most deserved the playing time based off being the best player. The athletic department called Wilson and asking him to stop talking about it. It embarrassed them to have some truth get out.
If you want to be a big dog you have to make winning the #1 priority. Tom Osborne did it in the 90's by being willing to sacrifice on the quality of character in his players. For a stretch in the 90's we had legit criminals playing yet looked the other way. Murders, rapists, drug charges, sexual harassment, gun charges, DUI, drug dealing arrests, there are documentaries out there about just how out of control it got. Don't believe me? Name one of those things I mentioned murder, rape, drug dealing, sex harassment and I'll provide a Google link to an article with the facts about it.....yet it allowed Tom and Nebraska to go on one of the most dominant runs in CFB history by adding the freak talents needed to get past the Miami's, Florida St's, Florida's teams they would lose to in bowl games because Nebraska lacked the raw talent to keep up.
We need to get back to making winning the #1 priority. I'm not saying we allow the level of crime that happened in the 90's but how about starting with the goal of being the best NIL school in football. No program will outspend Nebraska in NIL yearly. If you do that I bet you you can stop paying 10"s of millions of dollars all the time on coaching buyouts and constantly starting over.

Wilson, you’re in college, what does this transfer portal teach guys your age? Who is teaching them accountability? We make choices in life and we are held accountable for those decisions, good or bad. What is it 1% of college players make the NFL? All the rest of them go to work, and without their degree it’s hard to get a good job.
