  • This video covers the difficult process I encountered searching for a set of winter snow tires that would fit my 2013 Audi Q5 3.0T with the 20" sport package wheels. Here's where I landed.

Mike said it right ,The Pirelli scorpion all season tires are absolutely the best tires for your Audi Q5 that is what i use on my 2011 Audi Q5 3.2 which you did not mention because it is a rare breed and is like no other audi that was made ,I use the Perelli Scorpions religiously because they have a high threadware ratio and they adapt to any condition .

Hi Mike . I've been running the Pirelli Scorpion "all seasons" on my Subaru Outback past 2 years ...love the tires..and they also handle very well in snow. Something weird must have been going on with those Michelins ..normally they are one of the best tires for that Audi . I'm in Colorado and my 2015 Audi Q5 TDI handles so damn well in snow ...I'm going to buy Pirelli Scorpion Verde all season plus when current tires geat a bit more wear. . Even when it snows a foot ..our roads normally dry out by noon in the dry climate and strong high altitude sun. Good decision on going with Pirelli's.

Good content! When I bought my 1991 Acura NSX it came with two sets of wheels so I promptly put studded winter tires on one set of wheels.....I drive it all year round!

Winter tires in the northern states are always worth the safety investment. They pay for themselves if you avoid one collision. I have been very satisfied with Bridgestone Blizzaks for winter on both front or rear-wheel drive cars. Always get a set of four, for safety. I usually like to get another set of rims as well, depending on the vehicle mileage.

Good points. You'll never know if or when they saved you but definitely money well invested.

Mike c. Thanks for adding the snow tire review ! Wow pricy ! I actually went throug a similar situation with my infiniti g37s coupe I had a set of blizzaks for Pittsburgh winters ! I’m a little upset .. kinda defeats the purpose of going with a all wheel drive q5 ! Silly to have to purchase a set of snow tires on and suv with Quattro! Sigh lol that said I understand the additional safety and the sports package with 20’s can be tough with all seasons ! My bf Goodrich’s all seasons with half tread still holding up this winter ! Thanks again mike ! Happy new year ! I’m actually inquiring on getting a 2015 Daytona gray sq5 with those nice 21 inch rims soon ! I’ll keep u posted ! And make a video when I finalize purchase ! Thanks again jim

Just imagine the struggle finding a set of winter tires for 21 inch rims!

I run a 20" Nokian Hakkapeliitta in the winter because all-seasons are not suited to true winter conditions.

Lol I already did my research ! They make one snow tire for the sq5! Scorpion as well ! Close in price that u paid for our s-line with 20’s! Quick question ? Regarding your snows? My snows for my infiniti would last roughly 2-3 winters ! I would only need them 3 months out of the year ! How many winters do you expect to get out of your winter scorpions ? I might make the investment

I don't keep cars long enough to justify a second set so my plan is to leave them on year-round now. Plus we can get snow and ice on our mountain passes in fall and spring so its a pretty short window of summer months here.

You don't remember how much the tires cost??
    Somewhere between $1,000 and $1,400?
    That's a pretty big range.

Blizzak and Nokian are both better than the Pirellis.

One of the reason's I got this trim package. Not the reason I bought a Q5 though

Too much head movement making this video... a bit dizzying to watch.
