I agree with the person who posted below. Lessons are helpful and easy to relate to. I'm also using his Adult Cello lessons. I had taken a few lessons from a local person who played cello but found immediate improvement with Billy's lessons. Videos are great, but his Adult Cello course is a valuable way to get started with cello.
Incredibly helpful and relatable videos. You're so easy to follow and understand and are very personable. Thanks for all the time you put in to sharing free, quality content- it is sincerely appreciated!
Hello, I need your help , can I ask you a favor ( as a left-hander)can you play your cello on your right shoulder with your with hand in minus 1st position on the C string and tell me if it touches the pegs please. I cannot play the tradition way and want to know before I purchase. I stop violin ( traditional) at grade 6 and want to take up cello. Thank you
Several months there was one day I started practicing as a first-year beginner, and I was enjoying it so much that after two hours my left hand went into cramps, and it became worse and worse until I felt the need to go to one of our local emergency care clinics. They gave me an injection to relax my clawed left hand and a strap-like thing designed for sufferers of carpel tunnel syndrome. Needless to say, I couldn't play again for many days, but finally the problem went away and it hasn't happened since. I don't need to tell you, though, that subsequently I don't practice for two hours anymore!
Thank you for sharing Billy, this is something I’ve been struggling with recently, I found this video very helpful!!
How are you videos always on point! I know what I will be adding to my daily practices, merci beaucoup!
You really hit the things we struggle with. I have that thumb stressing issue.
very helpful and well explained.Thank you.
Your tips are amazing
Great thanks
Thank you sooo much. After a long search I finally got an answer 🙏. I have very small hands and my hand collapse literally, if I try to keep l my 1 and 4. finger in the exactly same position.
My teacher told me to do this.
But that causes so much tention.
I did naturally the same what you recommended, to move the hand a bit down and than back. I am happy that is not wrong, it works great for me!

I have thumb pushing problems :( I told my teacher "I need to put one of those spike bracelets the emo kids wore back in the 2000s on it" lol
Why spend so much time avoinding a natural reflex in stead of combining it with friction and gravity?
