I know everyone gives Rick flack about the Delorean and I agree some of his pricing decisions I don’t always agree with but he came to shop he had essentially a movie prop with a bad engine that they would have to upgrade if they wanted to sell it as a functional drivable car he may have sold it but with its flaws the guy who bought it just bought a literal prop now the guy who owns it has to make the repairs himself if I’m spending 100 grand on replica not even a screen used car I’d want the a good motor it so in my opinion good on him for not buying it

@@Steveman27 the signatures bring down the value for a lot of movie prop collectors because it changes the item from being a movie prop to an autograph now, and collectors usually prefer to show off a prop as it was seen in a film. Did you not watch the video? The difference here is that it's an original prop. Quite frankly i agree with them, and i know many prop collectors who would also agree. When buying a prop, many collectors want the prop to be in as pristine condition as possible, or in the condition it was when it came from the set. So having it signed, takes away from that. That's why it's value is decreased.

Big movie prop collectors actually want the item as it appears in the film. Those signatures were not seen at that item in the movie. So it does decrease the value for most collectors. Having them sign a random piece of merchandise (DVD, Toys, comics or whatever) increases the value of that item, but not an actual movie prop.

    • @hslmedia2663

It devalues it if you want it as a screen prop to a prop collector however it likey would increase the value if you sold it as film memorabilia. When you get an autograph you degrade the object you've gotten signed so when its graded it classed as damage. In the 90s this was seen as bad thing as it was harder to sell but if you check out recent studies you can see that signed stuff like this would add value in certain markets. His value was as a prop collector and for props you want it to be as seen on screen so he lowered the price if you had it graded and then sold it onto a back to the future collector the value would then increase. Was a study done in 2018 that compared markets on signed stuff well worth a read :)
