From "we're going to the Opening Ceremonies under the Eiffel Tower!" to "is the show over?" ... what do you think about our $3000pp ticket for the 7 minutes boats went past us?
Great to see you again, it's been far too long! 😃 This just goes to reinforce what an absolute total travesty the opening ceremony was. You must try to get to LA in 2028!
It was so shocking, I started laughing, much. like Tim! Felt terribly sorry for you both and everyone else there. Some of the audience members were elderly and had obviously saved for a special event, only to watch TV in the rain!
Loved the look of horror on Tim's face when he learned of the price for the tickets. Loved more that you guys were drinking it up by the end of the vids. Safe travels. Hope you had a blast.
Hello. I am French. I was at entry H1 tribune D so probably not far from you guys. I went to the Ceremony out of enthusiasm for the Olympics although knowing Paris I had a pretty good idea of what it would be in terms of what you can actually see… except for the rain. To make the story complete they were indeed even more expensive tickets for Trocadéro Eiffel Tower area but they were around 10,000 euros. And the guys there saw most of the ceremony on big screen as well… These were one of the best games ever by the way (excluding the ceremonies).
We were there too, but we didn't buy the tickets. We flew from Detroit, Michigan, saw Tay Tay in Germany and then we went to Paris. We had tix to pre-Opening ceremonies (Football, Rugby Sevens, etc) and somehow got into the Grey zone at the opening ceremonies. We sat, drenched by rain the whole time. It sucked. We made some friends with another rain-soaked couple from Finland and ended up going to a restaurant to eat and drink wine. For our accomodations, we stayed in Garches at a gorgeous manor for $150/night and took the train everywhere. We get lots of our travel tips from you guys and are forever thankful and we are sad to see you went through all of this. Thank you for "leading" us through an amazing time in Yellowstone/Tetons, and for an excellent time in Zermatt. You guys are the best!
I feel your pain - I flew from the US and also spent 2,700 but was on the other side of the bridge from where you sat. If it makes you feel any better at least you got free ponchos, had something going on in front of you with the fountains and the dancers on the Seine, and saw the aircraft and the singer on top of the Grand Palais. We didn’t have anything but the boats of athletes and a big screen tv. I don’t understand how the organizers said our section - that literally had nothing happening in front of it could price the tickets the same as those that did. Our section left after the French and US teams went by. I really feel like I fell for a scam and the thought of the amount of money I spent on a dream of attending opening ceremonies of an Olympics makes me ill. They could have at least maybe given us an entry ticket to see the Olympic ballon flame at night or something to say sorry.
I was also sitting across the river from you all, down one section by Pont Alexandre III. At least you had some action in front of you. For 2700, all that went by where I was were some boats and the horse. One saving grace was I could see the Eiffel Tower. It was disappointing but ultimately I was still at the Opening Ceremony of an Olympics. I think the rain made it all seem much worse, but it was still nevertheless disappointing for the lack of a show in my area. The tickets should’ve been priced a max of 1/5 what they were 😢
I was there too, but I bought standing tickets for 90€. It was planned to be a 6km parade, so it was sure we could see just a little part of the show. Besides, the promoters reported it before. Of course, it’s difficult to know it when you’re a foreigner. I’m sorry you didnt enjoy the ceremony. The guys before you with umbrellas were disrespectful. If I had been in your place, I would have grumbled. Despite the rain, you must think about people behind you. Dont regret it, the atmosphere was amazing, the best French event since the 98 world cup. Maybe one day you’ll say « I was there ». I wish you all the best ;-)
Ughh what a bummer for you guys!!! BUT thank you for showing your experience! I have not seen anyone else post anything like this and i was wondering what it was like ❤
First of all Fin looks fantastic. We appreciated to get to see the ceremony from that perspective. Pretty cool for us.. Glad to see you guys are back and sorry it ended up below expectations (to put it mildly, I think).
Hi TIN and FIN - We had exactly the same experience - for the price of 2700 Euro per Person, one could at least expect covered seats, Toilettes that deserve this name and food stands which actually have something to buy. It was absolutely ridiculous. I thought the Paris folks was exceptionally friendly, but in fact, it was unbelievably arrogant to ask such a price for soo much nothing. Public viewing in the rain. The only good thing was the sound system. We were cheated, really cheated.
Hey Tim and FIN.. look at the bright side, You will have a story that you will NEVER forget to pass down. Nothing beats that! I am not even watching or caring about the Olympics this year... The world is turning against us few Real people that are left. So sorry about the cash you lost on this one... last year after going to Hawaii with a group of girls for 8 years straight... my husband finally retired so I spent $6,000 of my savings to take him for the FIRST time... He didn't like it there!! So yeah... Sometimes I feel like Mexico is just cheaper and better!
Oh my gosh, it makes me so sad to watch that video but I also saw your Instagram story a couple weeks ago so I knew what you were gonna put out and I just hate that for you. You guys are so fun and responsible and informative and that’s heartbreaking and disappointing , but I’m sure you’ve moved on from it by now and, we don’t learn from our successes. We learn from our mistakes, right. With that said, in 4 years- my husband and I will go to LA- watch the opening ceremony from a bar in the beaches area all because of your video. So thank you❤ I hate this for y’all! You guys are the best. Cheering you on always! Amy & Joe from Missouri.
OMG!!! I'm so outraged and sad at the same time for you both! What a scam! I'm so sorry this happened to you guys. I suppose add it the laundry list of thing that were messed up the Paris Olympics! Such a bummer! Hopefully your holiday + whole experience got better after this!
I'm really not sure what you expected, to be honest. Ok the rain sucked, but you must have realised that, with public lining the Seine on both sides for miles, they weren't going to put the entertainment on right in front of you! Which is why, with a bit of research, you'd have never spent so much money on those seats. Crazy prices. As a Parisian, it was obvious to me at least. Glad to see that you enjoyed your events in your 2nd video.
I hate it when poor people get scammed. But there is something about the sort of people who are so cavalier with wealth to casually spend $6000 on tickets (and who use the term “Tay Tay” ) to anything deserve to have their money taken from them.
I am so sorry that you had such a terrible experience, specially as Fin was so excited about going to the ceremony. And, I guess, it is not much consolation that a whole lot of other people must have felt exactly the same!
Now I know why all my Parisian friends left the city during the Olympic games. They probably watched the opening ceremony on TV. I would have done the same if I was still living in Paris 😂
Yes Olympics were mostly a bunch of price gouged tourists bumping into each other in the streets with most locals either in their homes or gone on holiday and renting their apartments out for enough to live on for the rest of the year.
I'd definitely look at this as a case of the glass half full instead of looking back at it as a negative experience. The event was clearly a failure as everyone must have been left feeling like you, but that was the organizers' fault and all you can do is shrug it off and be happy you got to be there for such a historic event. The ceremony on the Seine probably looked good on paper when it was planned, but the execution related to providing value for the ticket prices was disappointing and the weather didn't help. Back in March, I gave two young friends from Tennessee a trip to Paris that they otherwise never would have been able to afford. The hotel alone was around $4,500 for five nights in off peak season and, as wonderful and memorable as that trip was, being there for the opening ceremony is an experience in an entirely different league. I'd always think back at that and smile if I were you. Thanks for sharing your experience!
It was not planned in the stadium or a closed place. So you can't expect to see everything right before your eyes as it was happening in several different places around Paris.
The Greece opening ceremony was the Goat! This is why I NEVER get my hopes up about anything. I’m either blown away or it’s not that bad. If I get my hopes up too high, the fall is much further and hurts too bad. 😬
One of the few times we were happy that Pepper didn't come along. Lots of reasons to growl. 6k euros to listen to a long boring speech in the rain. That's a lot of dog toys and treats 😁
Oh, I've missed you guys so much! Love your videos and thought something was wrong, like maybe you broke up. Although I watched the opening ceremony, I thought it was a really dumb idea to just have the athletes float down the river. Boring! I'm beyond shocked at what you paid to walk forever to sit in the pouring rain. Forget the outrageous tickets and sit in the comfort of the bar and have a beer. I still got emotional seeing Celine. She made the ceremony for me.
It is more business and earning money from tourists !!!!! It is good to be there and see it by your own eyes and see people cheering for their countries. I agree it was so expensive.
It sounds like you were not the only ones that were ripped off. It happens to the best of us. Don't feel ashamed. You learn from it and move on. We were scammed by a solar company and thought we were doing the right thing and we signed a contract. Fortunately, we hired an attorney who helped us get out of it. The solar panel systems did not work for us. We thought we were intelligent people. So it can happen to anybody. Harriet and I have been following you guys for a long long. We feel sorry for you guys. Hope you're doing ok. Sending you much love 🥰🥰from Richmond, Virginia Harriet, Jim and Yuki ( we just got back from a weary trip in Las Vegas from a meetup of a guy we know from Tokyo, He's stage 4 cancer and doing well. )
Thank you for showing this. I would be so pissed, not only out that money but missed the actual shows? Where was the show happening that was on tv? How much were tickets for that, why weren't they offered? So many questions, what a shitshow. I'm sorry for you being that excited and then that let down.
Wow. I saw your stories about this on Instagram and I also feel so mad and sad with you that you got taken advantage of. I hope you and everyone else complained all over social media to the IOC to let them know what BS this was. This just further enforces my absolute refusal to ever go to an Olympics. So sorry you had such a terrible experience.
Thank you so very much for posting. It sucks, but heh, you were THERE! So were millions of Parisians, who watched for free. Tough lesson learned and you have every right to be pissed. Thanks for the warning....
Wow, that's disappointing. I fully support paying what needs to be paid for amazing opportunities, but its a shame they took advantage of the hype and did not deliver. Maybe try the Winter Olympics since you know it will be outdoors?
I watched the second video first, when you were having good, uplifting experiences. I’m sorry that you went through this rain filled, uncomfortable, hard to see experience that was so ridiculously expensive. Plus the insanity of figuring out how to enter. That’s a fail for the organizational piece!
Love that you were honest and didn’t try to make it look better than it was! The event organisers should be fire, it was horrendous- I know they wanted to try something different but it was a big mess! Awesome work you guys 🥰 Ps it’s Charlie from Pocket Trailblazer- this is my new channel 😉
I am shocked this experience sucked for some of the exact same reasons it sucked 22 years ago, when I won front row, center stadium tickets to the 2002 opening ceremonies! Even though I didn't pay for my tickets, I still wished I could have watched it on TV because it's not very fun in person. I also sat outside for a really time with nothing happening, through super long, vibe-killing speeches by Olympic officials, repeated in French AND English. And I couldn't see everything even when the ceremony was in a round stadium right in front of me. So much happens across the entire field at the same time or can only be seen from a TV aerial view that you truly can't see it all no matter where you sit. Plus, all the artistic parts of the ceremony have abstract cultural meanings that you need a TV commentator to explain. Otherwise you end looking at a lot of the costumes and action like "WTH is supposed to be going on here?" So you didn't miss much from not seeing the "show" part in person!
Feel your pain, flew to England, Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, entered Buckingham Palace lottery online for level one access tickets for the grand parade, dressed up to enter the event grounds (per the instruction)!! No need!! jeans or shorts fine!! Tickets waste of money, Seven blocks from parade grounds, event full with VIPs and Guard Family members 1st access.
Ugh I’m sorry your dream got crushed like that. It’s hard not to feel cheated but please don’t feel stupid. There was no way you would have know it would turn out like that. There’s always 2028 🥰
What a scam! Good for Fin that camera was rolling when you mentioned the price to Tim! His reaction could have been a lot harsher off-camera. I feel so sorry for you both :(
🫶 he was super sweet about it- he obviously knew the price when I bought them 18 months ago, but hadn’t thought about it recently, nor would he think that THAT ticket was for this parade 😅
after watching this video I did some surfing on the web....so many reactions just like Tim and Fin. Some talking class action law suit. It is mind boggling to think of the fabulous trip one could have with that kind of money. Olympics sure have changed over the years...just a money grab now.
Girl I would feel so nauseous I’m sure Tim felt like that when u told him. I hope y’all are able to get something back from that. So sorry it was ruined for y’all. Looks like Tim really pulled through for you experiencing ur dream. I probably would’ve got so drunk afterwards. That’s crazy no beer out there maybe they don’t want fights or something. Like maybe that’s why it wasn’t a big party ppl just wet and mad.,
Ah I'm sorry you had a bad experience and basically got scammed. I think the Paris opening and closing ceremonies were better to watch on TV to be honest. I like the concept but spectators missed out on so much. And who decides on the prices! Oh my gosh.
Was there for free, it was the greatest opening ceremony I’ve ever seen for real ! I was drenched so I left and watched the end on TV once the French boat passed but omg was that iconic, for sure revolutionising the future of the Olympics both for the opening ceremony and the whole thing, I loved it ! So.. Sorry you didn’t like it 🤷♂️😕
2024 my friends, you've seen it all by now ! Your expectations are way up there, what did you imagine that can possibly happen on the banks of a river :D You should have done a weather check and it could have lowered your expectation. But you are part of history to be A ticket holders at the Paris Olympics, an ambitious one loved by most and spread through out the city, can you imagine that. An experience that reached beyond the confines of a stadium. People win, privilege did not and rain helped. Price of the ticket is relative, the ponchos seemed worth it to Tim before he knew the price of the tickets, thats how the mind works. Imagine if the event was cancelled because of the rain ?Now watching the US team pass seems more worth it right ? So don't be sad, think of those people who could not be in few metres of the athletes and see them live, like you did. Now were you planning to stay and watch it till Celine Dion sang ? so how can feel cheated when you walked out half way. Think of the organisers or the performers on the river, there only time to shine was destroyed by rain something they can't control but emotions we can, they took it with a pinch of salt and continued the show ultimately deemed to be the best ever opening ceremony, all other Countries now have to match the bar that has been set. Perspective guys and don't say 3000 dollars, you said 2700 dollars. Don't round it up, I am sure if you had to buy 2 tickets that offered the same show you would choose the lower figure. It's a matter of perspective and this is Paris my friends, it is an expensive place. I am sure you spent considerably and you will get it back. It's been 6 days virality is too late to be achieved because the crowd loves the JO, so might want to reconsider your strat. Cheers and enjoy life, bad exps makes you appreciate things better.
I'm really glad you showed this video. I would have done the same thing. The Games are supposed to be magical. That is so disappointing, and the cost was insane.
Im sad for you :( I watched it at home on TV and think it was the worst Olympic ceremony I've ever seen. I cant imagine the disappointment you must have felt. :(
Watching it from my couch was painful cause honestly, I don’t know what kind of opening ceremony that was. Rain aside there’s just now way to build hype in that type of outdoor, long spaced out environment. I kept being confused as to when it would “start” not realizing it was simultaneous things going on in different places. Wasn’t sure if it was bad or if it was just that I’m not French 🥴
I don't think you could pay me to go LOL - it was bad on TV. I would be so annoyed if I spent time and money on that. Sorry you had to go through that, thanks for sharing with us
why do you not discuss things together ahead of time.. itinerary, costing... is it part of the surprise, are you guys like roommates, or what, confused
Wow! What a gold medal ripoff. What a royal disappointment. Oh well. Lesson learned. Ticket prices for concerts are through the roof crazy, too. $3k for a floor seat at the Peter Gabriel show. I bet it was way better than Paris, tho.
This reminded me of the FYRE Festival and what a complete travesty that was. Wow, that was awful. So sorry to see how terribly disappointed you were Fin. I would try and get my money back. Seriously, that was a complete rip off, no matter how much money people have, I don't care, get your money back.
In EU, you are competing against real money, not 3rd world money. Best tickets were somewhere else more expensive. If you bought only what you can afford, it will be fine, but you didn't. Best opening ceremony ever. ( as I am not from the richest countries in the world, I don't go to New York to spent 3k on something "best" in the world and complain ) They were people who can afford more expensive tickets, I'm sorry to say.
France and the Olympic committee have not only lowered their own reputations but that of the next host country. They will be the ones to suffer for Frances actions. What a complete disaster. Thanks for sharing this video, you guys are great!
the worst Olympic opening ceromancy i have ever seen. On the TV in the Uk they said i guess the vibe watching it down on the stand is better. I`m dreading the closing ceremony. On tv it looked like a load cheap armature's.
That ceremony was a disgrace: woke, satanic, obscene. I hope you guys are back to the US now, and that you haven’t been robbed while in Paris. We have a real security problem here.
@@SomebodySs233 he has a University where you can get a degree. Or some really cool, sneakers. Or a Bible. You can buy. He is very smart because he can keep making money off of you.
no stop it, you didn't pay that much omg no 🥲 I think I would have curled up and died and not told anyone about this ever... that was brutal and even if you were under the Eiffel Tower, the show from the short clips I have seen look awful or not good for the most part
From "we're going to the Opening Ceremonies under the Eiffel Tower!" to "is the show over?" ... what do you think about our $3000pp ticket for the 7 minutes boats went past us?
I’m always excited to see you guys.. hope you recover from this unnecessary financial dent fast 😀
Great to see you again, it's been far too long! 😃
This just goes to reinforce what an absolute total travesty the opening ceremony was.

I spoke with opening ceremonies ticket salesmen since April. Was so tempted to buy that same package. Thank goodness we didn't.
I wish we had your insight! When it game to the lottery, once we got in and purchased, it was non-refundable!
Seeing you so excited at the beginning and then so sad at the end - it was palpable. Ngl, I got choked up about it on your behalf. 😥

Wow this is an eye opener. At that price maybe front row at Eiffel Tower for Celine. The rest looked boring and of course weather did not help.

Same questions here and we LITERALLY DONT KNOW the answer still 🤯
Awesome vlog❤
Thank you for showing us why not to buy these tickets!
Wow, that's disappointing. I fully support paying what needs to be paid for amazing opportunities, but its a shame they took advantage of the hype and did not deliver. Maybe try the Winter Olympics since you know it will be outdoors?
It's gonna take Taylor Swift showing up for Tim to go to another Olympic ceremony lol!
I watched the second video first, when you were having good, uplifting experiences. I’m sorry that you went through this rain filled, uncomfortable, hard to see experience that was so ridiculously expensive. Plus the insanity of figuring out how to enter. That’s a fail for the organizational piece!
We live and Learn! ....Sometimes 😮💨
Love that you were honest and didn’t try to make it look better than it was! The event organisers should be fire, it was horrendous- I know they wanted to try something different but it was a big mess! Awesome work you guys 🥰
Ps it’s Charlie from Pocket Trailblazer- this is my new channel 😉
Hey Charlie!!
You made me cry at the end
🥺🫶 thanks for going through this with us 🫶🫶🫶
I am still arguing with my wife, she said it's impossible for this disaster to happen to you, you would be too smart for this :)
Haha THANK YOU hopefully that goes to show what a LIE the website was 18 months ago when we bought non-refundable tickets!
I would’ve been so upset. I want to know how much the tickets were in the stadium!
I am so glad you brought attention to this issue. Outrageous!
OMG are you watching the closing ceremony?! 😬
Charge it to the game .
after watching this video I did some surfing on the web....so many reactions just like Tim and Fin.
So.. Sorry you didn’t like it 🤷♂️😕
Just not worth it to go to some of these events with expected huge crowds. Thanks for sharing.
So sorry wheater was this bad 😭... 🙏🤗🥂
🙂❤👍That really sucks that you guys got ripped off.
I’d be pissed! Unreal that was such a rip off! I’m pretty sure I saw you two in the Clear line at Denver airport before you left. Should have said hi!
Small world! That was us 😎🤗
There are always some people complaining......and it is always the richest people! There are in their fucking world
So sorry you didn't have the experience you were hoping for!! That really sucks 🤬
🫶 thanks for the comment, we’re just trying to get the word out!
I'm really glad you showed this video. I would have done the same thing. The Games are supposed to be magical. That is so disappointing, and the cost was insane.
Im sad for you :(
I watched it at home on TV and think it was the worst Olympic ceremony I've ever seen. I cant imagine the disappointment you must have felt. :(
Oh, the more you explain the sadder, I get 😢 I can feel your devastation.
That was hard to watch. So sorry you were taken advantage of.
So interesting to hear you had the same opinion from home too!! (about waiting for it to "start")
I'm sorry that you had a bad experience but it's not fair to paint France as being bad or the opening ceremony as awful.
I just wonder What is happening to this channel?? ( not in Good meaning:(
Glad you enjoyed it Jan
Spend 6000$ tickets for any show is stupid, even if the show is good.
What a scam. €2700 each for that? Wow
Maybe now y’all will make some more videos to get some of that money back that you wasted. #1 video a year if we’re lucky.
For 6K you should be on the USA boat.....Always be Scam Aware.
Now THAT would have been awesome!
Damn that! For $6,000 they should’ve been driving the boat!😂
All that money just to watch a screen is NASTY WORK! The finesse is outstanding.
Holy shit, that hotel room is the smallest I ever stayed in. And I’ve been to Paris 5 times and Europe more times.
Scam! I’d be pissed also.
I can’t watch this content the same after watching the short film #cringe. 😂
The opening ceremony was painful even on TV. Unfortunately for you, you paid a lot to meet your hero and it was a major disappointment.
Un français qui compatit a votre déception..
5500e pour un show TV c'est de l'arnaque.
🫶🫶
Its France! What were you expecting? One of the worst countries I have visited. I was met with snobbery at every turn.
Paris, the worst opening and closing Olympic ceremonies ever!
But there's a consolation, you can watch the London opening ceremony on RUclips😀
France should be embarrassed. Lame.
the worst Olympic opening ceromancy i have ever seen.
Spoken like someone who has never travelled internationally and has a narrow view of the world.
You sound like Trump.
Do you measure obscenity on how internationally it is spread?
Moreover, thank Goodness we are many sharing this opinion. Face it.
Thank you, this is a huge compliment, as he’s smart, competent and brave.
