I forgot to mention in this video that I understand special gifts from all of the fashion houses are reserved for VIP or high spending clients. If this was the justification I'd received from my SA, I would have accepted it and moved on. The reason why I believe the Cease and Desist was in retaliation was because of the timing. I had sold the Picotin bag 6 months prior to asking for this Chinese NY gift, yet received the letter 3 days after asking. I didn’t make this point clear in the video but I told my SA to let her manager know that this wasn’t fair nor was I happy, which I believe prompted the letter.
That is LUDICROUS!!!!! That is absolutely the first time I have ever heard of such an issue. It's laughable that Hermes would actually admit the Chinese NY gifts were only given to Chinese clients. REDICULOUS and I don't believe it for a second. Honestly - my opinion is the opposite of what you said. I believe they sent you the correspondence because of the bag sold on Facebook. Aren't you wondering who, on your personal FB would take the time and effort to screenshot your Post selling the bag and forward it obviously to perhaps their own SA at Hermes........ You have done nothing but speak so highly of Hermes, etc. It seems that perhaps someone is envious of your collection and spent their time bringing your FB post to Hermes. We can all sell our products. Period. As you mentioned, you weren't attempting to make a profit in which case, I am certain Hermes would definitely be pissed. But that happens every day! I do love my Hermes bags and enamel bracelets, but I most definitely enjoy other brands as well. What they did is horribly wrong!
The whole "cannot resell their bags" thing is laughable. You bought it, you own it. You can do anything legally you want with it. Keep it, sell it, burn it, give it away - it's not their business. They act like you adopted a bag instead of it being a commercial transaction. Does that mean no used Hermes products should be sold on Fashionphile, Rebag, etc? How about all those reseller shops you see in Japan? Hermes' attitude gives me a pain. (BTW, I refuse to say "preloved" - it's a bag, not a puppy. "Used", "preowned" if you absolutely must.)
There are lots of resellers who resell bags as a business whether it’s theirs or others and they still get offers from H. I somewhat have noticed a trend of who can (allowed) to do what in australia in terms of Hermes without having issues . It’s quite sad what’s happening in australia when we were known as the lucky country, the free country, I feel some of these brands are taking that liberty away from us even though they are not the government and don’t have the right to do so! I know I still shop H but I’ll never pretend there isn’t an issue with how things are being run in aus and some of it is apparent in other brands too like Chanel.
Look at it from a different point of view. They sold the bag to you as final consumer not as to a reseller. As a consumer, you buy something from them with the intention of using it. If, in 5 months, 1 year or 10 years time, you sold it on, then you would have kept faith with Hermes as someone who bought and used the bag as per their intention. But when you buy the bag, giving them the impression that this of for your own use, but actually you have no such intention, then aren't you deceiving them? You should have the courage to say you didn't want the bag. They would have given you respect for that, because that takes confidence. Instead you lied to them. Not Nice.
@@ChildofGoodFortune I get what you’re saying but that’s not why I’m annoyed. There’s a Pinned comment I wrote on the video that should appear at the top of the comments section that explains my point better as some parts got cut out in editing. Basically, it’s the fact that they retaliated with the letter due to the timing it for me asking for the gift etc.
But Hermes can do whatever they want with their products if these are "special products" that they sell only to selected customer, you cannot say anything if they don't choose you to have a bag.
Went to the store in Gold Coast once looking for a Kelly WOC, and the experience wasn’t good. The store manager was very snobbish telling me “our bags aren’t for sale 😊”
I’m glad you posted this. I drove 3.5hrs to Bellevue WA to be told that they mainly provide the Bs to their Asian clients because they spend more. That I was better off buying from the real real. I was so thrown off by her statements. Even my husband felt uncomfortable. We are both mexican and we were the only 2 there everyone else was Asian. But still it was not right to even mention it. I might not be wealthy as their Asian clients but it gives her no right to discriminate against me for my race and assumption of wealth. I decided I’ll go preloved. Oh and that even some SAs buy from the real real, okay sure/maybe.
So sorry to hear that, what an aweful experience - was the SA asian herself? Just wondering which SA it was since I shop there myself (and I’m not asian either, lol)
That is actually illegal discrimination. I would first report it to her manager and then to corporate. You can not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity. She should not be working there with that attitude and if its coming from the top down they need to be sued.
@@sweetwins5054 organisations can actually pay for a service which automatically skims certain media looking for key words (such as organisation name). A daily update of who is communicating about you is then made available. This allows them to develop marketing strategies etc.
This is awful. Policing customers is another level. It creeps me out how they track and monitor social media. Also disturbing how they discriminate based on race/religion. Not sure how civil rights are in Australia, but this type of discrimination isn't right.
I've been saying that this brand uses abusive sales tactics to keep their clients in constant fear of retaliation. Words are powerful. Sthg is wrong when everyone keeps saying Hermes "offered" them bags when they still have to pay 10s thousands. Nevermind "the game".
Well, their tactics are the real cause of the whole retaliation thing… i believed now they use their bags for money laundering Nobody will ever understand why a bag with non exotic leather would be x4 more expensive just by going out of the store Blv me it’s bigger than a that….
This was really interesting and such a shame that you had that experience ! Never been afraid to decline an item though ! They may have put it to one side but you’re the customer and should be happy with what you are buying ☺️☺️
lol Madison Ave in NYC refuse me entry every time I try to go in. Who knows why? They certainly have interesting shop assistants in some places that's for sure.
That's beyond ridiculous. Lunar new year is celebrated by a lot of people across Asia not just Chinese. Also how on earth can they judge someone on their ethnic background? I would think this is racial discrimination. I'm glad you have an upbeat attitude over this. This would leave a bad taste for the whole brand for me. They were completely petty and unprofessional.
@@Skyebright1 the red envelopes I wasn’t too phased about and yes generally they’re available until they run out of stock :) the actual gift for the Autumn Festival is normally a trinket or ornament made by Hermes in special packaging, which historically speaking is for high spending VIP clients of the boutique. Whilst I wouldn’t say I was a super high spending client, I had spend over $26,000 in less then 6 months which was above average I’d say (this included a lot of highly commission items like homewares). I totally was expecting the response of “the Autumn Festival gift is allocated to VIP customers” and would of been 100% fine with that as I know people spend 3-5x the amount I have but as you know that wasn’t the response I got haha.
@@THECLOSETbyConnor yeah the racial thing is weird, it’s a free gift from a store, it’s not like it’s a menorah, it’s a round paper lamp, the Chinese people wouldn’t have any issue with other people owning and displaying them
@@Skyebright1 exactly. It was more just a terrible justification that made me feel less than a $26,000 spending client lol. Bigger problems in the world I know but nether the less!
Even if I didn't find Hermes' stuff completely snoozeworthy, this kind of crap is why I'd never shop there. I'm new to luxury goods, I only have a single LV bag but their SAs treated me with respect the second I walked in the door and didn't act like they were doing me a favor by _letting_ me buy it. The way Hermes treats their customers is absolutely gross.
The lunar new year gift is given to high spenders who look Asian in order to engage Asian customers who tend to spend more. It’s a pretty large assumption on H’s part and I agree they should give the gift to all high spenders. You were sent the CAD letter because you’re a more public figure. ANYONE with a social media presence focused on luxury is on H’s radar.
In the United States of America what you experienced would be classified as Racial Discrimination and you would have a legal case. The fact they are doing something that would be illegal in certain countries they do business in is concerning. It does not confirm, but suggests, the company is okay with discriminatory policies as long as they skirt regional laws of whatever country that branch is operating in.
Ridiculous! What gets me is not just the childishness but the arrogance of the brand. Their T&Cs are arrogant - can you imagine if the car manufacturers said you can’t resell our cars? So you’re stuck with the car for life or can’t ever buy one second-hand - people would go bonkers lol 🤣. You didn’t deserve that and glad you can rise above it, Connor 😊
You can sell the bag. Hermes cannot do anything about it. But they won't offer you another one, and that's their policy and I think it's fair. If these bags are made for special clients and these clients give so much importance to these bags, they're made for life and there's no point in reselling them. If you resell them, you either are a professional reseller, or you don't think that bag is so special, so Hermes is right not offering you another one and maybe give it to someone else. And their policy is what makes those bags so special in the eyes of people who buy them (to me they're just awful grandma bags).
Great video - I couldn’t agree more and that’s why I would never buy them either from the boutique or on the pre-loved market. I would never support a company that does not treat their clients equally. If someone has the funds they should be treated equally.
That’s ridiculous…I’m not sure if any businesses in Australia can say ‘This is only for (specific nationality) customers’ 🤔 Imagine if Aussies say ‘This is only for Aussies’ to other nationalities.🤷♀️
I completely agree with you! What I will say though is that you did a whole video response to purse on fleek were you discussed the fact that Hermes does not like reselling and that is what contributed to purse on fleek’s problems with the brand. So although I think it’s a ridiculous rule that they have. I think if I knew that that was their rule and I decided to buy an item I don’t like just to resell anyway I won’t be surprised if Hermes send me such an email if I get found out. Especially if I have a RUclips channel that showcases the brand some what.
Hey! Thanks for your comment :) If I had received that letter straight after selling that Picotin, I would have been like oh well it is what it is, because I know how ruthless they are. The reason why I believe the Cease and Desist was in retaliation was because of the timing. I had sold the Picotin bag 6 months prior to asking for this Chinese NY gift, yet received the letter 3 days after asking. I didn't make this point clear in the video but I told my SA to let her manager know that this wasn't fair nor was I happy, which I believe prompted the letter.
Hermès in Australia is so intense! Do you have that much time on their hands? First Purse on Fleek now this?! 😮 Really like your comparison that Christmas packaging is not exclusive to Christians!
Don't support Hermes full stop. It's pathetic, it's snobbery, it's discrimination, it's childish and it's exceptionally "Mean Girls" circa 2004. That's not luxury, that's trashy. No-one should be telling you what you can or can't do in your private world. It's pretty pathetic that they SPY on their clients. It's also pretty creepy if you ask me.
As a lawyer I do have an opinion about this. You should be able to do with it whatever you want and I think they are legally held to give you full ownership without limitations, prohibiting reselling would mean a limitation regarding the ownership of the bag. However I do see option for Hermes to limit what their customers do with their bags, it’s a long story that Hermes must know too. Overall I have to say whatever Hermes may come up with, it’s not very customer friendly…ps. I am a lawyer in Europe, I would love to write something more about the whole legal situation regarding Hermes. It seems that this problem is growing in last years especially since the pre loved marked prices are going up.
The New Years gift could be only available to their Asian stores. I compare this to how I can only find lunar New Years special cups in Starbucks South Korea. The lunar new year special cups are not offered in the USA Starbucks. If they are offered it would be a small limited number of stores.
New sub. I have heard many horror stories about in store experiences. I buy what I like, I can’t deal with the whole “journey”. I don’t know why they would single you out because there are others who resell Hermès and it’s well known, and nothing seems to happen to them. As far as the Chinese New Year gift, that’s amazing! I can’t believe someone said that! Aussies are like Americans as far as the range of cultures and being a melting pot. There would be big trouble here if that were announced in a boutique.
I have heard in USA this sort of thing would be a big deal but here in aus Connor is right even though it’s wrong it’s kept hush hush. It’s so frustrating it’s like all our liberties of being the lucky country and land of the free is being taken away by the decisions being made at these luxe brands and it’s not just H too
@@dawnlovescouture2644 100% it’s so fkn wrong. And it’s like no matter which brand u go to there is some level of this happening . Honesty,I’m not even motivated to go to the boutique. I can get what I want online and not worry about it.
it seems Hermes in Australia loves to send letter to their clients :). Happened to Mel as well. I'm just not sure why they had to do it. Sorry for your experience!
What’s up with Hermes Australia banning people from store?!?!? I’m starting to notice a theme… 🤔 But in a serious note, do you know where the screenshot came from? If it was from an Hermes employee snooping the fb group it would be retaliatory, but if it came from another person who sent it in then they were just following company protocol. Not defending their actions by any means, just cusious about the distinctions. (I experienced retaliation at work recently so this is a really interesting topic to me.)
I’m not actually banned at all, I’ve still shopped in Hermes since this incident :) The reason why I believe the Cease and Desist was in retaliation was because of the timing. I had sold the Picotin bag 6 months prior to asking for this Chinese NY gift, yet received the letter 3 days after asking. I didn't make this point clear in the video but I told my SA to let her manager know that this wasn't fair nor was I happy, which I believe prompted the letter.
Hermes is some brand. Having fully grown (usually well to do) adults dance and do a jig for them. Your better off not engaging with them. Re: CNY gift, if that was even real reason, how do they not know if you had a Chinese partner or friend that would value the gift? Just don’t presume, in fact I had a uni classmate who was 1/4 Chinese but entirely white phenotypically. They have no idea why someone might want the gift
Ugh, those bishes! The AUDACITY! People already think Hermès is out of touch and plays ridiculous games with paying customers, this kind of thing isn't helping. I only shop from the website and pre-loved, so fortunately I don't have to experience their "customer service" in person.
Amazing! I cannot tell you how included I feel at Chinese New Year! The Chinese community themselves love us to participate! They were BSing you! Thank you for the video! Have a fabulous evening!
Wow. Lunar new year is celebrated by so many cultures and countries. It is discrimination. No one 🚫 me in the 🇺🇸 for purchasing a holiday specific piece. What if your downsizing, what happens 🤔 when you pass away? Your family, partner, spouse is supposed to keep all your stuff and property? My opinion too is that is retaliation. We all have seen bags being sold new, unused, for profit 📈 and not for profit 🙄.
You don’t need them anyway. Any store that would treat a good client that way, especially in the middle of a lockdown, is not even worth your time or attention. There are a lot of other places that have much prettier bags that are also handmade.
Soooo….just so I’m understanding correctly. If Hermes offers someone a bag, and that person declines the bag, it is possible that the person may not ever be offered a bag again. BUT, if the person buys the bag, you know, the one that they are only buying because they may want to purchase another bag, and they sell it, they are sent a Cease & Desist letter and can’t buy another bag any way. Ok, got it. Sorry, but that is one of the most absurd things I’ve ever heard. I guess I’m not masochistic enough to want a Hermes bag.
No no I could have simply said no and there would have been no implications, but I chose to take it knowing I could sell it to someone who might not be offered the same opportunity, that’s all :)
@@Jiffypop oh don’t worry, I shouldn’t have said in this video “we all no how you can’t say no to an Hermes bag” but I was being sly! Haha they have beautiful bags but the drama ain’t worth it! X
Wow. What a shame! I can’t believe this happened to you. But oh well, you gotta do what’s best for you! I haven’t shopped at the store as well for a while, but this isn’t shocking for me. I feel like they just Do whatever they want
Wow that is ridiculous of Hermes. Surely people have the right to sell something that is theirs. You were not making a profit so surely they can’t class that as profiting from the label.
Wow this is actually so racist on Hermes' part. How can they just look at someone and say they are not within Chinese culture. What if you had a Chinese significant other? What if you had family members that were Chinese or extended family that were Chinese, or friends that were Chinese. It is just absolutely ludicrous. Anyone is allowed to celebrate Chinese new year. This particularly bothers me because I myself am half asian, however I don't look very Asian, I look more Indian (take after my father's genes). Well they clearly lost a valued customer and look like idiots for their reasoning.
I am so sorry you had such a bad experience, that is not good enough. I have shopped at both the Melbourne and Gold Coast stores and had excellent service, although I was not dropping huge $$$.
So many Hermes clients have refused a bag before. No harm in saying “no, this isn’t the bag I’m looking for, I’ll visit again next time.” They would’ve respected you more.
Hey Nora! It wasn’t so much about me not wanting to say no, I could have easily said no and no harm would have been done. But I knew I could sell this bag on to someone who’d really want it at no premium (which is what ultimately happened) x
Gosh Connor, my heart hit the roof of my mouth when I read your thumb nail and opening disclaimer! 🙊 I'm so sorry that the manager denied you because they believe you do not represent the correct culture! I believe Hermès need to rethink their policies and be called out for racial discrimination!!! I have Jamaican and Portuguese grandparents - not too far removed, but you wouldn't know it to look at me! I'm so glad I have never and will never buy anything Hermès!!!🤬
I'm so glad I've never loved Hermes or had a connection to the brand. I had never heard of H until like 2015 when I watched the bling ring and they mentioned the birkin, my 23 year old self was like "wtf is a birkin?!" 😂 so I have no nostalgia for Hermes unlike LV and Chanel, brands I was exposed to when I was 12 and it became a dream to own at least one LV bag 😅 I feel like this Hermes games are so frustrating and I'm so glad I don't have the urge to ever attempt them. It must be so upsetting for people who love this fashion house to then be treated this way.
That’s completely ridiculous 😅 They want to act like they are this unreachable dream but they’re just pathetic! At this moment of my life, I don’t have that kind of money, but I was already thinking that if I’m ever be able to get Hermès item, I would never play the game in which THEY are so gracious to allow me to buy a bag, and not even the one I want, and I would go to a reseller. This experience of your made my mind stronger on that point. Thanks for sharing!
Im sorry about your experience but Chinese New Year gifts are thise who celebrate Chinese New Year only. Thats what other brands do too. Im in no way VIP or high spender, not Chinese but am Asian and lots of Asian countries esp in east and southeast celebrate lunar New Year.- im talking about BVLGARI. Thats how they chose which client to give the red lunar new year envelopes to. I mean i guess if these store have extra, they would.
Glad you asked this :) I actually edited out a part as it didn’t flow well but the Picotin bag I purchased and listed on Facebook happened 6 Months prior to me getting the cease and desist, which happened three days after me asking xx
I dont understand why they would get upset about someone selling something at retail price. That just shows you this is pettyness. This is ridiculous. At some point we might want to associate their politics with their products... I wouldn't ever buy anything Hermes again.
this is beyond ridiculous, if a client asks for a gift they should give it or give something else. I’m Asian I don’t celebrate x-mas nor easter yet i receive gifts🤷🏻♀️ Store manager needs proper training how to treat clients
I just don’t understand how Hermes does this to someone selling a picotin, and in those FB groups they are wayyyy more BIGGER resellers, yet they look the other way when it comes to those people. I even bought a quota bag from one that gets the hottest colors and hardware combinations and sells them on IG as well as the groups.
That’s right! One of the PS I work with was advertising to pay for “beautiful well dressed women” to go to Hermès to buy Birkins or Kellys! People make fortunes (money that Hermès could make themselves) on the resale market, and they are coming after the private individual that sold one single bag?
Ah Hermes games. I'm sorry this happened to you. Don't get me wrong - Hermes stuff is beautiful, and I'd certainly not turn down a Birkin. But, I think, at least from a handbag perspective, Dior, LV, Fendi and Saint Laurent are so much more interesting and unique then Chanel or Hermes. Hermes bags are rather boring, although I'd kill for a Birkin 40 in the rust-like color. Dior bags are absolute works of art. Hermes is stupid. Their games are ridiculous. That's why I'll never buy from them. They aren't interesting enough for me to play these games.
Completely agree! Dior offers the best customer service, the store experience is luxury to the highest extent, the bags are incredible quality, and people are still begging Hermès to take their money?! 🙄
I have watched quite a few videos of Hermes customers saying whenever you are offered a bag, you must take it even if it's not the one you want. I must give it to Hermes that tactic is working to get them sales. But the poor consumer feeling the need to buy something they don't really want... Plus, I don't know if I really believe them when they say they are happy when they bought a bag they didn't really want. Oh well.
I have refused bags before and in my case it prompted my SA to try even harder to get me the exact specs I wanted. Although in Paris it is difficult to reject items since getting an appointment in the first place is so difficult!
You can refuse bags. I didn’t go on the infamous ‘Hermes’ journey which many influencers like to talk about but I still get my bags. To me, the journey thing is too odd.
I was bullied by my SA for years... she made me bought 7 differant pikotans and still no berkun ;[ she took me to back room one time only to shuv me in a locker ;[
I have never heard of anything more ridiculous, their T&C's are also ridiculous. You purchased that bag and it was yours to do with as you pleased in my eyes. ( As Claire below said what if car manufacturers said you couldn't re sell your car, Absolutely absurd ) Once we buy anything at all it is ours to do as we wish with. You just kindly bought it knowing that someone who couldn't go in store, due to the restrictions imposed upon us, might like the chance of acquiring it and you weren't making any profit. They should be happy that there bags are getting out there to the public and for all they know the person who bought it , it could have been their first introduction to the Hermes brand and could have started their Hermes "journey" and they might have been inclined to go instore , when possible and bought bags etc. There loss not yours. I honestly thought it was a very nice thing for you to do Connor. You are a very kind and lovely man. Much love. Jenni from Adelaide. Xx
I can't believe people are still craving for those grandma bags. The only thing uglier than Hermes bags are those scarves that they use to protect the handles.
Oh dear can I say I am from New Zealand and with this lockdown business been dying to come visit but your experience at Hermes not good they have treated you badly
I’m sorry this happened to you. The reasoning behind not giving you a Chinese New Year gift is so pathetic and definitely racist. However, maybe it’s the other way around. Maybe they didn’t offer you the Chinese New Year gift because at that pint they already knew you had resold the picotin, and didn’t want to give the gift to someone that wasn’t in “good standing”? Then after the interaction over the CNY gift they decided to send you a C&D to limit interaction with you? I’m just thinking this might be the case because I can see them being much more upset over you reselling rather than asking for a mere free gift.
I think you’re spot on with this, which is why I received the cease and desist right after asking, not 6 months after me selling the bag in the first place xx
@@THECLOSETbyConnor I 🤔 something also commented and echoed my concerns of trolling/tracking what we decide to do with our purchases. Smells too much like a encroachment of personal use. I do understand the Hermès policy but once you take ownership, it should be considered personal property 😉

They must have thought you were a reseller. I’m surprised companies like Hermes take such a hard line approach to things like this. Sorry you had such a bad experience
You paid for it, you have the right to sell it, burn it, or give it to charity, etc..... Did you sign an agreement with Hermes at any time????? I would talk to a lawyer... It all sounds illegal....
Maybe there are limited seasonal gift items so they reserve it for people who celebrate those holidays? I used to work in sales and seasonal gifts were ordered by sales managers or SAs based on client profiles.
I’m sorry to hear about your experience, it’s my opinion that Hermes is boring, played out and the ultimate nouveau riche brand anyway. Enjoy spending your hard earned money elsewhere :)
Good solid disclaimer there Connor! This video did not go in the direction I was expecting. Wow! Talk about passive-aggressive behaviour. Petty beyond measure.
@@THECLOSETbyConnor LOL you do what you have to do to survive! Cease and desist? What the heck? LAUGHABLE! IMO and that's a reasonable conclusion to reach and is my personal opinion. This is for shopping for handbags and being too polite to refuse their offer in case you put them offside for future transactions? And you got zero financial benefit from the on selling, a fact that has eluded them?! Unreal. I can't stand the French sense of entitlement in situations like this and slavish application of rules to the exclusion of sound principles and commonsense. Some of my family think Paris is the centre of the Universe and we're all savages in Australia. I would think Hermes is border-line in restraint of trade actually but I'd have to research it and the sheer pettiness is making me too crosseyed to be able to think. Also they cannot issue unilaterally a term of a contract that's already been executed, retrospectively. Which is why they're trying to introduce a term of sale into future transactions. IMO but this is not legal advice, just my provisional impressions. French warship, you know what to do.
Omg sorry for this crazy expierence. The more I hear negative stories & bad customer service expierence about this company, the more I look away. Glad you did not spend your money, your bank account will thank you.

I literally will not buy from the boutique because of how they police their customers. Not because I'm doing anything wrong, honestly, just because it really grosses me out that they keep tabs on their customers online. Have little rules and "journeys" as a brand all you want, your brand, your rules...that's whatever. But once someone makes a purchase, their item is theirs and checking on them to make sure they aren't reselling that item is so bizarre.Creepy. I don't need the orange box, doesn't justify that level of BS. One thing that always bothered me...I saw a gentleman buy the white Himalayan croc with palladium/diamond hardware bag, the $120,000+ bag they only made, what, three of? Two? Anyway, IN. THE. BOUTIQUE. they asked him who the "lucky lady" was. He said "Oh, I'm single. I'm reselling this, already have a private buyer". He resells luxury as a business AND THEY STILL WELCOME HIM IN WITH OPEN ARMS. What makes him different? Is it because he comes out and tells them and they're like "ok, respect the honesty" or...what? It makes no sense.

Why it wads wrong for you to sell the bag is because from their point of view you are contributing to the grey market...which is a huge problem to them... and yes, no high end brand will endorse this behaviour... just the way it is.

Exactly, I can do what I like with it. They pick and chose who does the wrong/right thing! X
It’s double “wow” for me. Two separate issues that each blow my mind. Thank you for sharing. I always love your lightheartedness and humor
Thank you so much 🥰🥰
Went to the store in Gold Coast once looking for a Kelly WOC, and the experience wasn’t good.
Yeah it leaves such a bad taste in your mouth hey. Sorry you had that poor experience x
So sorry to hear that, what an aweful experience - was the SA asian herself? Just wondering which SA it was since I shop there myself (and I’m not asian either, lol)
@@charlotteg4374 yes she was Asian as well. Which made it that much more awkward. Side note, I was there on February 12th.
@@lolipena8051 thanks for sharing your experience - and again how aweful to hear this, this is a shame for a brand like Hermes!
That is actually illegal discrimination. I would first report it to her manager and then to corporate. You can not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity. She should not be working there with that attitude and if its coming from the top down they need to be sued.
Seems like Hermes take themselves waaaay too seriously!
Agreed haha x
I heard from someone that they actually hire a group of people just to monitor our social media... XD
Not sure how civil rights are in Australia, but this type of discrimination isn't right.
new sub✨ been watching your videos for 3 days already and am learning so much from you already. xx 🇸🇧🇵🇭
Oh welcome :) thank you so much, glad I’m able to help ❤️
I've been saying that this brand uses abusive sales tactics to keep their clients in constant fear of retaliation. Words are powerful. Sthg is wrong when everyone keeps saying Hermes "offered" them bags when they still have to pay 10s thousands. Nevermind "the game".
Yeah exactly!!!
Well, their tactics are the real cause of the whole retaliation thing… i believed now they use their bags for money laundering
Nobody will ever understand why a bag with non exotic leather would be x4 more expensive just by going out of the store
Blv me it’s bigger than a that….
This was really interesting and such a shame that you had that experience ! Never been afraid to decline an item though ! They may have put it to one side but you’re the customer and should be happy with what you are buying ☺️☺️
I didn’t feel pressured to buy it, but thought I’d just sell it to someone who would want it more but couldn’t get it :)
Thanks for sharing! Hermes is a whole other level of craziness
Legit!!
lol Madison Ave in NYC refuse me entry every time I try to go in. Who knows why? They certainly have interesting shop assistants in some places that's for sure.
I swear they’re ex secret service haha
That's beyond ridiculous. Lunar new year is celebrated by a lot of people across Asia not just Chinese. Also how on earth can they judge someone on their ethnic background? I would think this is racial discrimination. I'm glad you have an upbeat attitude over this. This would leave a bad taste for the whole brand for me. They were completely petty and unprofessional.
Incredibly unprofessional x
Aren’t they just for customers spending a certain amount, or for the first people who buy items at the store till the packets are all gone?
Hahahaha exactly!!! We’d be Flintstoning it 😂😂
💯
Well on cars.... if you buy them via a company discount program, there can be a period of time where you aren't allowed to resell them.
100% agree xx
That’s ridiculous…I’m not sure if any businesses in Australia can say ‘This is only for (specific nationality) customers’ 🤔 Imagine if Aussies say ‘This is only for Aussies’ to other nationalities.🤷♀️
Correct!
💯
Yeah that’s how it works in a lot of places. There’s a few places in India where only white people are allowed.
Chinese is not just referring to nationality, a lot of times it's the ethnicity
Given how many people buy bags and known to sell at huge markups and STILL get to shop, this would be very insulting.
Hey! Thanks for your comment :)
If I had received that letter straight after selling that Picotin, I would have been like oh well it is what it is, because I know how ruthless they are.

I totally agree with you.....
I 100% agree with this too, they can’t impose unrealistic expectations of goods they no longer own on their clients, it’s ridiculous.
😮 woah!

The New Years gift could be only available to their Asian stores. I compare this to how I can only find lunar New Years special cups in Starbucks South Korea. The lunar new year special cups are not offered in the USA Starbucks. If they are offered it would be a small limited number of stores.
Why wouldn't they just say that, though? That it was only availanle in China. Not specify that it was for Chinese clients only?

What’s up with Hermes Australia banning people from store?!?!? I’m starting to notice a theme… 🤔
But in a serious note, do you know where the screenshot came from? If it was from an Hermes employee snooping the fb group it would be retaliatory, but if it came from another person who sent it in then they were just following company protocol. Not defending their actions by any means, just cusious about the distinctions. (I experienced retaliation at work recently so this is a really interesting topic to me.)

I’ve never been interested in Hermès and i will never go into one of their stores what a horrible company 😂😂 such a joke😂😂
Yeah Caitlin Pawlowski who lives in Perth I think is just going through resellers

Xx
Exactly! Thanks Jenni!!! Glad you saw my point of selling it to someone who couldn’t get it themselves xx

@@mollypapazian4423 agreed!
It’s his property at this point. Listen to yourself.
OH WOW 🙀 Very elegant and classy of them to go tell their employee to say to a customer. SMH And you mean all those people selling their Orans on eBay are breaching contacts??Hahaha🤣👏🏼
happy those bags do nothing for me! lol
I‘m so sorry you had to experience that. Hermes‘ politics are so ridiculously to me anyways. Spend your money elsewhere 🙌
That Australia store is crappy as hell there are so many people have terrible experiences there smh
Thank you ☺️☺️
Ah Hermes.....
Hi Amelia!
this whole brand and the way they operate makes me so uncomfortable, creeps me out
Good solid disclaimer there Connor!
This video did not go in the direction I was expecting. Wow!
Talk about passive-aggressive behaviour.
Petty beyond measure.
Passive aggressive from me or them? Haha x
@@THECLOSETbyConnor
LOL you do what you have to do to survive!
Oh 100%!!! Thank you for watching xx
Oh Connor I can’t believe a store manager was so childish. (referring you to head office). A cease & desist what? Liking their items & wanting to purchase? It’s the weirdest, dumbest thing I’ve heard in ages. Ignore & don’t sweat the small stuff. Cheers
That’s it! Moving forward hehe x
Omg that is insane. Literally makes no sense!!!
I’ve been meaning to watch this and finally got the chance 2 weeks later…. I have one thing to say…. HERMES IN AUSTRALIA DON’T PLAY!!! It’s crazy!!! And the fact that someone actually took the time out their day to report you 🤯🤯🤯🤯 - I’m sorry that you had that experience lovely 💗
Girl they didn’t come to play hahaha thanks for watching xx
Sorry but what about all the Australian resellers?? You know the ones - who obviously reseller brand new items??
👀👀👀
@@THECLOSETbyConnor SMH
Why it wads wrong for you to sell the bag is because from their point of view you are contributing to the grey market...which is a huge problem to them... and yes, no high end brand will endorse this behaviour... just the way it is.
100% australia celebrates all cultures! Christmas Gifts from luxe brands are for everyone and not culturally/religiously offered to clients …. I stand with u I too would find that offensive!!
Thank you hun xx
Yeah they should just go to the highest paying customers, it’s a lamp to hang up from a designer store, it’s not like it’s a specifically religious item
I was shocked watching this video! WOW what a shame. Hermes is a status symbol I think, and I could NOT love any bag they make. Just my view. For me I have to L O V E a bag to spend thousands on one/them!
Fascinating! Horrible, really, but fascinating all the same. 💕
