    Years ago there was a popular blanket called a "crazy quilt" which was made in a similiar manner; all size pieces of fabric were top stitched just like this. It probably was actually done this way by pioneer women to make blankets using up scraps. I like the idea of using what's on hand and not throwing things away. I grew up learning to be frugal and I'm still that way.

    Hello Tina, WOW, what an awesome idea Just love the covers, especially the blue one with the lace insets and also the medieval one. Can't wait to see how you are going to do the journals to go with them. PLEASE, PLEASE, make a complete journal for us to see using one of the awesome covers. LOVED, LOVED, this video and a series of filling the covers will be AWESOME. Hope your floor works out well and the noise was no problem, we heard very little, and anyway, that is the noise of life. Have a wonderful day with your adorable daughter and as always, Blessings and hugs. Diana

    Thanks for this Tina! Such lovely fabrics which I am certain will inspire many wonderful journals. Can’t hear the noise from the workmen. I do sympathize with your situation. We live in a condominium which had gorgeous cork floors throughout. While a new roof was being installed there was a leak which spoiled a small portion of the kitchen floor. We had to replace the entire floor, over 1,500 square feet. What a pain! Persevere, and enjoy the new floor! Hugs and blessings, 🤗❤️🇨🇦

  • @motherofdogs27
    @motherofdogs27 3 года назад

    If you have enough fabric, completely cover the envelope with the thick fabrics and then add your thinner fabrics on top. Removes the “dips” and further supports the idea of patchwork. You could also (if your sewing machine has them) use decorative stitching to give the illusion that it’s a crazy quilt. I have a LOT of fabric, so I see this in my future, for sure!

    I really enjoyed watching the variety of covers being made. Such beautiful fabrics, makes me want to go shopping, but the numbers are too high for covid in this area, so I will be staying home a bit longer. However, nothing can stop me from doing a little shop online, lol. Love how you've added bits of lace sections to the cover. That is really gorgeous. I must get brave and try this. I am such a doily and old lace cloth hoarder.

    Oh dear, almost double lockdown having to stay upstairs! Hope the work goes quickly! Ah pleased your daughter had a good birthday 🎂. Beautiful fabrics and covers! Looking forward to seeing more videos on this. I really need to get the tension sorted on my machine so I can use it again lolo 💖

      Yes, that’s exactly how it feels, like a double lockdown, lol. I can’t wait for them to finish and be able to get the kitchen back! Hopefully only another couple of days now. The tension on the sewing machine, it really is a pain isn’t it? I often have trouble too x

      😂I'm ready to chuck it out the window, I gather it's a very common problem. I'd love a one with automatic tension but wouldn't we all? Lo! ❤

    We did an entire new floor during the first 5 weeks of the pandemic here in America (Which we did) . Our kitchen was supposed to be next year - then my husband got an itch to start it. As soon as he started he got called back to work for 6 weeks!!! Our kitchen was a mess - but I did have my stove!!! I totally understand!!!!

      Oh my goodness, what a nightmare that must have been! I must admit my worst fear was that the lockdown restrictions would be tightened up again mid way through the job and that we would be stuck without our kitchen for weeks!!! Fingers crossed they are nearing the end x

    Fun, I worked along with you to make a cover for the journal I’m making for my daughter. I enjoyed Bridgerton, I don’t know how old your littles are but the series gets quite steamy towards the latter half, even for this old girl in my 60’ s 😉

      Oh that’s fantastic, I am really pleased that you crafted along. Thank you for the heads up about bridgterton, I have just watched the first episode so far, and that was already a little risqué, lol x

    This really was an inspirational video Tina, I am just making a fabric cover and usually sew all mine onto another piece of fabric then glue to envelope, your way is much easier and quicker thank you 😊 Xx

    Its always interesting to see people cut up doilies because I'd think they would unravel. But it is a pretty effect.

    OMG. LOL. I just (minutes ago) pulled out all my blue fabric hoping to make my first 'softer cover' fabric journal covers. I then came to the computer to get ideas about how to approach it. Thought about formally quilting the covers and viewed a couple of vids how to go about it. Then you just posted this and am now leaning towards your approach. Can't wait until you post the next video tomorrow for an idea how to bind the signature(s). Also, I'm calling these my 'blue' journals as they are blue-themed and many of the pages are from your blue-colored digitals. Mental telepathy?!

      Oh that’s fantastic, it must have been mental telepathy! Lol I am really thrilled that this came just at the right time for you. I hope you enjoy the next video too. Thank you so much for using lots of my papers too 🤗🙃 x
