- Hi - welcome to this weeks mass making workshop. Here we are making some super versatile hinged pockets for your junk journals. These are not my idea, they were from Sue at PaperInspirations (see link below). They can be used and adapted to different sizes, with out with the hinge glued over/under etc, just have fun with them! Hope you manage to craft along, and get some serious mass making done with me during these workshops which I am hoping to upload every Tuesday. Morning Tina, those little pockets are super, super cute and so versatile, I am definatley going to be making a few for my journal. I also just want to wish you daughter for her birthday later in the week (I'm doing it now, in case i forget!!!!) I hope she enjoys the day even though she may not be able to be with her school friends. I can just imagine how difficult it is for her, she is still only little and obviously misses being around her class mates. I am also looking forward to the book cover AND how you can incorporate it into a journal, but don't stress yourself out, when it gets done, it gets done. Also want to see your daughter's birthday card. (I seem to be sooooo full of demands today!!!!! Must have been something in the coffee. LOL. Yes, it was announced on Monday night that we are now back in a lockdown, so no school for her. She was so upset, she actually cried because she won't be able to see her best friend at school on her birthday. It's such a shame. I have promised to be super fun and play all day............wish me luck!!! Lol. I will get on and do the covers regardless now, otherwise it will be ages away!! Her card went up this morning. Thank you so much Lena. Yes, it really is such a shame for the little ones especially as they really miss the socialising and playing. Even my 14 year old really benefits from the routine (not that he would admit it), otherwise he is just in bed until about 12pm!!! I am trying to wake him with a cup of tea in bed each morning to try and spur him on to get up and join the online classes.........it's a battle at times! x

These are so cute. My grandkids here in the US can not go back to school, not even part of the week, they need to get back to school they miss their friends. Happy Birthday to both kids! My father's birthday was the 7th, he passed away last year, my father-in-laws was the 14th and my best friends the 21st, and all have passed away! It is a sad month for me.
Oh I am so sorry to hear about all your lost loved ones, of course this must be a very sad month for you.
We are back in a lockdown, so so sadly the schools are closed once again, it really is difficult for the little ones who love school and are missing their friends so much x
Loving these mass make pockets they are so easy and cute, I made just 2 today, had my grandson today and that was the end of mass make lol, so Wednesday I will begin again to make plenty for my stash. I would have been asleep before midnight New Years Eve except my neighborhood LOVES fireworks! That noise went on until after 2:00am! LOL

I haven’t rung in the new year for about ten years. I just can’t be bothered. It’s not the same as when I was a little kid and it was “taboo” to stay up late.😂😂😂 Now I’m more of the mindset that New Year’s Eve is just another thing that gets in the way of my sleep…😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I've been wanting to come up with an idea for stationary pockets. Making something for my mother-in-law in Ireland. She's in her 80's and has been in lockdown for a year now. She needs something fun to fidget with for fun. So I'm going to make these pockets for stationary and envelopes, stickers, glue stick etc.. made from a file folder with pockets. That way she can keep busy and have something to do with her time. Thanks for a wonderful video!
What a fantastic idea to make some of these for your Mother-in-law. It must have been a very hard year for her, let really hope that we are coming to the end of this situation x

Great idea. Happy birthday to your daughter. Hope things calm down as far as school. I’m certainly glad my grandkids are out of school except for the youngest and they are at home schooling vis the computer also.

Yes the game was really fun until it stopped working. However, my son has had an email now saying that the technical issues have been fixed now, so hopefully we can finish it still. Have fun with your family is you find one online to do x x

Love these! And respect that you always say where your ideas come from (not everyone does). By now you'll know we are in lockdown again! So sorry about your daughter not being at school on her birthday 🎂, it's hard on those not old enough to understand 😒. I'm sure you will give her the best birthday possible. Virtual escape room was a great idea, such a shame it stopped working. I love your Christmas card and seeing your other pieces in a journal. Lol I can never stay awake for new year either! 💖
Oh thank you for your kindness about my daughter. It is such a shame, she literally cried that she won't be seeing her best friend at school for her birthday. It's so hard for those little ones who love school. We will cobble some sort of birthday celebration together for her, I have promised to be super fun and play all day!!! I'm dreading it!!! Lol. x

My oldest son was born December 26, and he told me to get him stuff for his house for Christmas and birthday.
He bought his first home two weeks before Christmas
That must have been a tough birthday when he was little. Oh how exciting that he has just bought his first home, what a fantastic achievement these days x
Great idea! You could glue down the top pocket and use the bottom part as the hinge also.

What a great idea and beautifully made Tina. 2 of my sons have birthdays this week on the 8th and 9th! So I know what it’s like so close to Christmas, mine are turning 33 and 31 so a bit easier to buy for I think! thanks for sharing these pockets xxx💕
Oh that must have been tricky when they were young keeping the Birthday celebrations going for each of them, but still keeping them separate for each. January is a rotten time to have a birthday isn't it? x

When I make a journal cover with thin paper I use a couple paper towels be tween the cover and the paper.or material .. works great and feels great too.you can add more or less depending on how thick you want it

Happy belated birthday to your son. Turning 18 should have been more fun, I agree! Also, a very happy birthday to your lovely daughter. I'm sorry she won't be able to have it at school. My birthday is in July so I never got to bring treats to the class. I remember how fun it was though, celebrating the other birthday's at school! I hope she gets to go back soon. Adorable little pockets, Tina! Those escape rooms sound like such fun! TFS the inspiration!
If you want a taller bottom pocket and a smaller upper pocket, you can always reinforce the hinge area of the bottom section by using a piece of washi tape or even a glued piece of paper, lace, fabric… you could go to town on this basic design. ❤

If you and your son haven't watched "Dexter" on Nexflix you should look into it. Definitely one for after your daughter goes to bed, but I really enjoyed it. (Not sure what that says about me - enjoying a series about a serial killer lol!)

I use 12 x 12 to make big pockets I score n for 2-3 inches along the bottom of the page and same on the side cut the corner but out then glue those so there's a pocket up the side and across the bottom

Love the idea for the covers. I haven’t made that many journals so far, but have flipped back and forth between starting with the cover, and making it last 😂

RE: your jammed circle punch. You might try to find an EK Success punch for your next one. I have terrible luck with punches as a whole, but EK success punches seem to be the best quality and least troublesome. Just IMHO. 😁👍🏼
