- In this video we take a look at the Tamiya Bullhead I recently bought as a restoration project.
We have a quick talk about the Bullhead, my history with the Truck and what I plan on doing in the future.

Got one of these sitting in my RC cabinet. Had it since 1994. Bought a new shell a couple of years later and painted it about 4 years ago and made it a shelf queen along with all my other Tamiya nostalgia. Great truck.
Thank you for the comment. I cant remember how long I had my original one for It would've been nice to have kept it, but life happens and you move onto other things. I'm glad I have another now, but getting body parts is a challenge to say the least! Hoping to give it a quick test run soon before the complete strip down, maybe tomorrow as its a bank holiday!

Hi Tony, nice introduction and back story, very enjoyable to listen to. That is a great find and in good shape considering its age. You don't see many of these about, I personally have never seen one in the flesh! Looks like the Clod chassis. If so, check before installing Torque Tuned or similar motors that have advanced timing. I'm pretty sure one of the motors runs in reverse. If so a timed motor would be much slower in reverse and would cause drag on the other motor. Just a thought mate. Cheers! 🍻😎👍
Hi Mark, thanks for watching and the comments. Always handy to receive constructive comments for the build. Yes it is basically a Clod Buster with a different bodyshell and bright colours! I'd like to give it a little more power than the standard silvercans but nothing crazy. Its going to stay with brushed power hence thinking about the tamiya Torque Tuned Motor or Maybe even the Sport Tuned. Would you have a recommendation at all as I see that you have a Clod? Many thanks!
@@TonyGardnerRC No worries Tony! I just checked and you do need to reverse the wires for one of the motors. That limits you to zero timed motors so the Torque Tuned and Sport Tuned are off limits. I think the Holmes Hobbies Retro motors are zero timing so it might be worth looking at those. All the best mate!
@@MarkBryanRC Hi Mark, thats great thanks for getting back to me. I already run a couple of Holmes Hobbies motors in other cars (21T in a Grasshopper and 15T in my as yet unfinished XM-01 Pro) and I was considering them as I'm sure on the Holmes site it recommends them for Clods. Nice to know the Tamiyas are off limits as I have a couple of spare Torque Tuned. Thanks again and good luck for the start of the Speed Run Challenge later in the week!
