Hunnie! Get your degree and level up! Don’t worry about them kind of people. I’m starting Galen -Houston in January and all I care to do is get my degree and graduate. That’s it that’s all!
Definitely!!! Live and learn!!! I have no interest anymore on study groups or friends. I’m retrying to get on with life!!

@@mandelalago4371 it’s a great school. I wouldn’t lie to you. I just don’t know about your area but the school in general is great. Very fast paced but if this is what you really want you will put the time in to graduate

Nursing school in general is cliqueish I always tell people to make allys not friends. It’s the perspective that you take don’t let the environment dictate your experience. Racism is alive and well. It’s definitely more a political environment than we admit.
Omg, well said!!! I can’t even believe some of the things I over hear. I just think to myself “these are the people who wants to be a nurse”
@@salexismechelle That is the culture because we aren't in our own environment. Honestly even in some environments that are ours it is still a similar level of toxicity. I always tell people to keep their head on a swivel dot all of your I's and cross all of your T's and keep it pushing from there. All personal information stays personal and I live in the south so I grew up with the concept of doing twice as well just to be looked at as half as good so I am used to the nature of these environments. This is really where Code switching comes in. Work and School are never the places to be your authentic self. When you own your own then you can be who you are and set the tone otherwise keep it cute and keep it pushing.
I believe nurses need to support each other no matter the culture because, we have to take care of everyone no matter the persons background too
Because everyone is so scared to help each other out because they don’t want someone else to get more or higher than them. That’s why! It’s so sad honestly
Galen is a great school. I have two friends that graduated from Galen and I have worked with nurses that graduated from Galen. They are super smart.
Yes, it’s a good school I just hate some of the ppl that attend the school! But it’s a wonderful school
I did confront her in her office and asked her Jennifer Brimberry are you racist because people including myself think that you are treating people of color different compared to white students
She started crying and apologized
I told her that I don’t accept her apology but moving forward I don’t want to deal with it again otherwise I will sue her and the school
After that she was super nice to me
I couldn’t believe it
I wouldn’t believe her either
I’m going to Galen in Round Rock Texas next year 😂
Even though I experienced racism at Austin community college, I won’t let that bad experience hinder me from pursuing my RN at Galen
That was my experience, though other students had a better experience than me, of course

@@TheAdegbes I live in Temple it’s like 45-50 minutes away from the Galen round rock campus. I have one more pre req to finish before I apply. I’m taking applied ethics in January in another school.
After that I have to study for a TEAS EXAM and hopefully I get in this year.
I think I’m going to start in April or July depending if I pass the TEAS EXAM.
I heard mean girl nurses usually work in hospitals and nursing homes bc their narcissistic personalities are drawn to weaker people who cant take care of themselves and they take out their toxicity on them bc they are defenseless. Im going into luxury nursing movie set, mespas, platic surgery, dermatology, disney resorts, overseas nursing etc bc thats where my heart is. Anybody working at a hospital or nursing home acting like that is blazing a negative trail that will follow them and eventually itll catch up to them but by them youll have a position somewhwre highwr than theirs and happy af❤
I have never heard of that type of nursing!!! I need to venture out more. I’m happy you have a plan! Don’t let these people knock you off track! Keep pushing you got this

@@talaya2523 I just need one more credit to do and transfer them to Galen. At my local college the class is $400 and at Galen is $1,200 or $1,500. I am doing it that way to save money but also because when I start the nursing program I want to focus only on the nursing courses I have a friend that graduated from Galen and he did all the pre-reqs along with the program and he said it was really stressful because it’s a three month semester. He had to study for all the finals and exams at the same time.
I am doing my pre-reqs so that when I apply I have less classes to do and pass with flying colors

I hope not for you! It shouldn’t be like this but that’s how it is! My best advice is to stay under the radar, don’t get involved with all the group chats.

Galen and West Coast are too damn expensive for the shenanigans! However, I attend Navarro in Texas and I was shocked to see the amount of black leadership in my program.
Honestly, all these school are so over priced 🫣 but we have to do what we have to do! Congratulations on even going to school because it’s so hard!!! I love to see black leadership all over make me happy, thanks for the support 🫶🏼‼️
What campus are you at? I’m at the Miami campus and we are very much predominately African American and Latino. We do have other nationalities but yeah no. And most of our educators are African American which is one of the reasons I chose this school. But hunny Galen is something else you hear ME!!! Nonetheless brace yourself ladies it’s about to be a roller coaster but WE got this ❤
Omg! I wish that was my campus I’m three hrs away from you at the Tampa Bay campus! It’s the total opposite. I’ve only had two black professors. Galen is DEFINITELY a trip you definitely have to know to handle them
Girl I could just scream 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m literally sitting out for Remediation for that stupid ATI 🤦🏽♀️ I done cried my little heart out. But I guess I should be grateful I passed both pharm and med-surg
@@marshadestin2394 omggg no!!!!! I hate that we have to do the ATI BUTTTTT everybody said it’s worth it. Makes the NCLEX easier…THEY SAY!!! So do you have to take the class over again (med surg) or what’s next for you?

I was planning to go to Galen in Tampa and ultimately decided against it. It was in my top 5, then top 3, then last 2. I chose to bridge at Herzing instead.
Thank you for your support! Humm, I’ve never heard of them? Where are they located? Do they only have the bridge program or ADN too?
When i had my c section i had alot of air in my stomach from being open for the c section and tubal ligation after well i had take liquid laxatives to help n tht didnt work so i had to get suppositories, well from the time i got there til after being stiched n taped up there were white nurses in the room after that they sent the african nurses to give me the suppository both times. The white nurses a couple not all were rude af i was sore from the c section a yt nurse came n for a sec to check vitals i think but nothin physically with me i was freezing im already anemic i asked if she could turn on the heater she daid no but u can take a shower i was there for 3 days bc of the trapped air but the cut hurt so bad i didnt shower til the last day the 3rd but that yt nurses were so fxkn rude. My last day there i gabe the charge nurse positive praise for the Aftican nurses that helped me out and she wrote their names down ans said theyd get and be recognized for an onion award

We attend the same school, and I have not encountered racism in school. However, you are in Florida which is a very racist state!!!!! Totally agree with being careful who you talk to. I keep my head down and keep it moving!
That’s my problem! I need to keep my head down and move through this school on silence!!! When you try to make too many friends, too many study/chat groups it becomes too much!!!
I feel so bad for you but you need to find a friend to stick with though

I’m going to the one in Florida as well and I’m not going to care because I know how to study and take my own notes. I A’s Microbiology baby let me tell you I’m making the deans list and more. 😂😂😂 Laugh and keep pushing forward and better yet pray for them. 🙏🏾🫶🏾🙌🏾❤️

I’m at Galen Las Vegas haven’t had an issue but hospital settings are different. Smdh hate you went through that. The racism is everywhere it’s awful
Hey love, you know I haven’t had any issues lately so I’m very happy with that. I cannot complain. Even at the hospital setting the nurses are really nice too, and welcoming. I’m really happy tho with things keep are fingers crossed 🤞🏼 thank you for your support.
