@11:08 I had no idea what Metaphor was prior to watching this video. But thanks to the sponsored stream hosted by 'Pat Stares At,' I now am completely aware of the game's existence and have a reasonable understanding of what to expect from the it, AS WELL as an awareness of the fact that the demo is COMPLETELY FREE and AVAILABLE TO PLAY RIGHT NOW! I'm so glad that SEGA decided to pay 'Pat Stares At' money in exchange for playing this game. It really has helped me, an otherwise ignorant consumer, to learn of this great-looking new product, as well as to be assured of its features and/or quality. I surely would benefit from SEGA continuing to pay 'Pat Stares At' money in exchange for featuring their games on his show. ;)
I knew WHAT it was, IE a fantasy rpg by Atlus but I kind of stayed away from most marketing to kind of be more surprised. I did play the demo and it is very interesting. It's like they took the bones of Persona and instead applied it to characters/setting/world more akin to say Fire Emblem and it does seem to work surprisingly well. I am a bit concerned that there do appear to be like.........social stats? And time limits which means schedule planning which aren't always my FAVORITE part of Persona but I'm willing to give it a shot.
I’m glad I lived to see the era where Pat just puts his face in awkward places in all his thumbnails/is openly getting sponsored to advocate against safety
Since Pat is literally not allowed to say it, I’ll just let everyone know that this game will ALSO be available on PlayStation and PC. Microsoft has been paying ATLUS big bazonga bucks to pretend that its an Xbob exclusive.
2:40:50 WAIT A DAMN MINUTE! King Hythlodaeus? More? As in "Thomas More", writer of "Utopia", where Hythlodaeus is a main character? God damn it, even the world map looks like the illustration of Utopia. It always comes back to Utopia!
I love that it looks like all the Human designs are based on stuff from Hieronymus Bosch paintings. The first boss is in the bottom right corner of the centerpiece of "The Garden of Earthly Delights". With a few liberties taken of course, Bosch didn't paint it with knife feet, lol
You know, I didn't catch this stream live, not because I think Pat Stares At is a bad sponsor, no, He's a Perfect Vessel for Sponsoring Video Games. I didn't catch the stream, because I saw the pop-up and went "Oh shit, Demo?" and downloaded it myself.
Maybe not 'cosplay' in the traditional sense but it would be interesting to go to, say a Masquerade ball, in this world and everyone is just dressed like salarymen, police officers, and politicians.
I played through this demo to completion and I've pre-ordered it. I know pre-ordering isn't good, but there was no way I was NOT going to get this. The artistic talent on display is enough for me to support this game. I want more games to look like this and sound like this. I appreciate good art.
The music in this game goes SO HARD and never stops. I was wandering down in the mines and it was sounding like I was going up against Anduin in Soverngarde.
I kind of wished i read the glossary, as I named the protagonist "Hythlos" not knowing the king was named Hytholdaeus lol so when the kings name was used a few hours after i set the protags name i felt kinda silly.
Honestly I named him Minato as that was the name I originally used for P3 protag and he kind of reminds me of him. His friend with his grey hair, long sword kind of reminds me of Yu Narukami from P4.
@@MrSammichMANOMNOMNOM Well Al in Weird Al means Alfred...which works in your favor I suppose. With similar names. We have a lot of names that end in "son" for example.
I actually had it in mind to name the character Eldren even before I realized his species is an Elda and they're called Eldans. So yeah, Eldren felt like it became even more fitting. The thought of the main representative of the species in the story having a similar name to the species itself had a nice touch to me.
I MISSED THIS STREAM!? Oh man what a pain, I just got done with the demo but didn't "complete" it; it's stellar and I highly recommend it. Definitely a must buy later this month.
It's funny that I listened to the first part of The Silmarillion audiobook by J.R.R Tolkien to understand that the music being the first magic in the world of this game is a reference to how the creation of the LOTR world started.
Add on to the thing about the map. Countries didn't just hand out maps because if they fell into enemy hands they would be used against the Country. So that one map would be worth the lives of a whole platoon to reclaim if lost and if the solider lost it he (if not his whole house hold) would probably be executed or enslaved depending on the universe.

this demo totally goes further than this cave, right? I'm at the cave, already took down the big bad right away and got 2 other archetypes, is there MORE IN THE DEMO???
@@Vanity0666 Of course, thats why if the next Persona has a Female character its gonna be a option BET because he's too much of a incel deep down to make a female only protag.
It's amazing how modern demos are put together. In previous generations, they would just let you play through a sequence or two to get a feel for the gameplay. Ever since Lies of P, every demo I've played has let me play the first few hours of the full game. Pat is just barely at the halfway point here.
Dude forget about Lies of P, Square has been doing that with a lot of their Switch RPGs for years and the Dragon Quest XI demo had 10 hours and was what convinced me to get it after hating the original PS4 version.
As someone who has been avoiding all promos of this game, I was shocked by how profoundly ugly this game is lmao. I can't stand all the disruptive graphics either, it was enough to make me uninstall. Hopefully they eventually add an option to chill the fuck out on the animations.

In a stream with explicit instruction to avoid racism, it took less than an hour for a blackface mention. I expect no more from Pat xD
I hate how the name actually makes me MORE aware of the parallels to the real world, and all the metaphors it brings up. This is a wild feeling.
You think that people in this world cosplay Japanese Highschoolers the same way we cosplay fantasy characters?
Considering we will likely get dlc costumes from persona I'm gonna say yes.
Maybe not 'cosplay' in the traditional sense but it would be interesting to go to, say a Masquerade ball, in this world and everyone is just dressed like salarymen, police officers, and politicians.
Nah the funnier reality would be them cosplaying japanese salarymen

Gee it’s almost like you have the right to spend money on things you want and you shouldn’t let losers online or corporations tell you otherwise.
As someone who's generally against pre-ordering, I think it's a little different if you've already played 8+ hours of the game.
How did i not know there was a demo for this game?! I'm counting down the days when i can just play it this weekend.
