You're welcome! I really think there is no competition at this price range. I got mine from Thomann for less than 180 EUR and I just tried a Fender Tonemaster Pro yesterday. I am actually quicker editing on the Ampero - the only thing that felt like an upgrade was the displays next to the switches. I couldn't get a nice 5150 sound out of it eventhough it's an officially licensed simulation by Fender. Stock IRs just don't sound great.
@@ayeapprove Same here. The silver edition for the Thomann 70 years was the real bargain. Nothing can touch it at this price point, still now. Recently compared the saturation from the ampero 5150 amp with my bugera 6260 in live condition, plugged in return loop, powering half stack on 4xG12T. Going back and forth ampero / Bugera, it's really close , eyes closed very hard to tell wich is wich. Still can't believe this unit is that good. I made a cover of a sworn ennemy song with it, ampero on left side, real Peaveys from the band on right, patch made in 15mn. Amazingly close, this has sold it for my bandmates. (except for my playing errors lol)
This is a great update for all the reasons you mentioned. However, there are still some bugs that need fixing. The "Wait" feature is very handy for not immediately changing patches when a new patch is selected. But I have found that when editing patches this feature freezes up, and stops working. You need to do a factory reset to get it back. I am sure a new firmware update will be out soon, as also the Editor software needs some upgrades to work properly with this last extensive firmware version.
Hotone has been top notch when it comes to updating their Ampero line. I still have my original MP100 and it has improved so much through the updates. It is now a very complete and high quality product. And I heard that they are developing a tone capture tech for the Ampero 2 line. I hope that we will be able to capture amps and pedals from PC software and then play them on the Ampero MP100. I will sell my ToneX directly... (ToneX sounds good but lacks a lot in user friendly interaction…)
Great review ! In term of latency and overall sound quality of the pitch shift, is it better than the 4.1 firmware ? still using my Analog TC for this because of poor quality of this effect on the ampero . I still think this is a killer product and really love mine tho. It's perfect on so many aspects, and they keep updating it ! Fantastic
I just tested this going 4 halfsteps up and down and I actually prefer it over my Digitech drop in terms of artefacts and the latency is compareable so not an issue for me!
@@ayeapprovethat's cool, it means I can remove my Drop from the pedalboard now. But I'll have to test it myself before I do that. The Drop is great for the ease of use, to be fair, you don't need to count the semitones (especially since I used a marker to write which tunings correspond to each led light)
And now we need next the capability to edit/import drums patterns, sync the start to the first strumming, and why not, save the loops, if not in the unit, in the computer.
Yesterday I tried to recreate your use of Classic PS with my Ampero One. I tried to lower the pitch of my guitar for 1 full tone, so I set range to -1 octave and position to 16. After that I found out that even just 2-notes powerchords are sounding out of tune. Wider chords are sounding even worse. I tried to understand why I have such a result and eventually I figured out that Ampero One manual says that Classic PS is monophonic effect, it's not intended to sound several notes semulteniously. So you can't really use it for pitch shifting whole guitar, just a single notes. This is true for Ampero One (MP-80), maybe the situation is different with higher models.
I tried pitch shift to get 6 fret higher pitch. Set min to 0, max to 12, and position to 6. It sounds horrible. I tried to sing i could not sing. something is wrong. How to shift the pitch by desired number of frets?
Nice!

Btw it says you can adjust the module and allow it to be postioned anywhere or something like that, what does that mean

Tone Capture would be interesting, that's something I want to try next with a cheap MVave Black Box.

@Obssy yeah I liked the simplicity but I think the DSP in the ampero is even better at handling polyphonic pitch shifting

Postion 50 should be exactly 6 frets up. But that high up it starts to sound wonky.
Nice.
But - any other new features on this 4.2 update?
