I'm 20 and I just got my license after 3 years of engineering and many years of watching videos, listening to scanners, etc. I can honestly say that people in the hobby are very welcoming!!

This is probably one of the very best "documentaries" if you will of Amateur Radio. Kudos to you.

J1A King Hussein? The King Hussein I worked in 1964 was JY1.

Minor correction: King Hussein was JY1, not J1A. And he was the king of Jordan, not of Spain. But great video!

It’s just a damn shame it’s a dying hobby because of the satanic age of technology.
As a new ham (less than 1 year) , I’ve experienced abuse from old hams, and very bias attitudes towards new licensees.
Not very encouraging on keeping this fantastic hobby alive.
I overcame the BS and enjoy it more and more each day.

I am sorry to hear that. I have experienced rude hams but never something rising to the level of abuse. I am glad you have overcome it and are able to enjoy radio despite that. Unfortunately, it seems that one rude or abusive ham can sometimes outweigh the supportive and friendly hams.

yeah, arrogance exists in all societies, including the amateur radio one.
However, leave those fools behind.. and meet good friends somwhere else.
the bands have the whole mix. Whatever the local repeaters show you might not be a fair representation.

Not dying. But what's kind of dying is the BIG GUN ANTENNA FARM. I for one will NEVER get rid of my big beams. Why? So I can hear the mud crickets with tiny antennas
