Most people including the poster do not understand what Damina is saying.
Damina is not against a person giving tithe but he's against payment of tithes because Christians do not owe tithe.
The word tithe is not a religious word - it simply means a tenth just like a dozen means twelve. So if a beliver decides within himself to give a tenth of his salary each month to support the work of ministry and to support those in need then that's his choice.
What is fraudulent is telling christians that they have to PAY a tithe as in pay a tenth of their salary each month as mandatory - that is fraud because no christian owes tithe.
Your giving must be free will and you must decide whatever amount you want to give.
There's a difference between payment of tithes and simply giving a tithe.
Payment implies law and Malachi 3:8 was Malachi enforcing the laws of Moses - he wasn't giving a new law. Again you pay only if there's a law enforcing you to.
You pay tax because it's legal and if you abscond you will be punished and in some cases be thrown into jail.
You pay tax but you give alms to those in need. One is law whereas the other is free will.
You give a person in need you don't pay them.
Chrisitians are not under the law of Moses and we only give generously. So if the level of your generousity is 10% or 20% or 5% or 1% its your choice and it is acceptable.
Abraham who gave Melchizedek did not pay tithe - he gave as he purposed in his heart and his choice was a tenth of what he stole. There was no law mandating him to give and God did not ask him to do it.
The law of tithing was introduced by Moses and it has a strict set of rules which make payment of tithe impossible today. Yes, no one can pay tithes today and non one does. Even the Jews haven't paid tithes in over 2,000 years because they understand clearly that the requirements no longer exist.
1. The tithe has to be received at the temple in Jerusalem but that temple was destroyed by the Romans in around 50AD
2. The tithe was to be received by only Levites but the levitical geneology is lost. It was lost when the temple was destroyed.
3. The tithe was never money
4. The tithe was food that was meant to be eaten etc

Talking about tithing in the new testament church is a big erroneous doctrine for the church because Christ and His disciples never brought the practice to the church, we can give any valuable things including money as God has prospered us without any fractions, and you don't call such tithing.
