When I was a kid, I was OBSESSED with Barney. If my parents went on long road trips, listening to Barney music was the literal only way I would fall asleep during the ride. He was my life from ages 2-5.
When I was about 4 years old in 1998, my family planned a trip to Orlando for Disney World. I begged my dad to also encorporate a visit into Universal Studios Florida with that trip but he adamantly refused. I wanted to go cause of the Jurassic Park area cause that had become an obsession of mine around that time as well...but had I known they had a BARNEY ATTRACTION...I would have probably never forgiven my family for not taking me. Honestly though I'm super happy the attraction lasted as long as it did. Even if I outgrew Barney decades ago, it's super impressive that a rinky-dink stage show like this with a character who was pretty much irrelevant by the turn of the millennium somehow managed to keep on going for 25 years, only closing in 2021. That's nuts. I'm glad Barney got to touch the lives of children for that long at the park. R.I.P. Barney and friends. I love you, too. ❤️

I dunno about Barney being irrelevant by 2000. While other PBS shows like Arthur and Dragon Tales were more popular (at the time), Barney was still not irrelevant at all.

Going to that section of the park is one of my happiest memories. My parents took me to universal studios for my 6th birthday, and since I was so young at the time, I hardly remember the trip. What I do remember is my dad walking me towards the Barney meet-and-greet getting me all excited to meet Barney. He kept telling me stuff along the way such as “sweetie you are about to meet THE Barney!” And once we got to finally see Barney my dad kept making a big deal about it saying “look, look! It’s the real Barney!” and Barney followed my dad’s lead by hopping around excitedly and hugging me. I remember crying slightly because I was so happy to meet Barney. Probably one of the best childhood memories I have, and it’s so sad they got rid of Barney :(

My family still has a video recording from our trip to Universal Orlando from the mid-to-late-90s, and we went to see this! My late brother and I were young at the time and we were huge Barney fans. My brother was born with a spinal condition and he used a wheelchair; my mom told me that the park crew members at Universal were so nice and accommodating to us the whole trip (I don't really have any memories of the trip, just the home video footage and my mom's memory to go off of). We sat in the front row of the show, and we were even brought backstage to meet "Barney" and his friends. I'll always be thankful for the crew members (both at Universal and Disney, we went there with him as well) for how they made my brother's trip so wonderful. ☺️
On a more humorous note, my mom said that that the Barney attraction also had a public restroom that played "I Love You" every time you flushed the toilets; I'm surprised this didn't come up in your research. 😏
    Great video, as always.

It was adorable and I was so taken at how much the audience loved it and sang along, even though Barney as an IP was way past it's prime. Then I realized that the young adults who were so enthralled grew up with Barney and are now bringing their children to enjoy. It was truly a heartwarming experience. So sad to see it go.

My Pop Pop and brother wanted to go on things like Terminator, and I was at the age where I didn't feel ready for attractions like that. So my Grammy figured seeing Barney would ease my nerves, which he did. I've loved him since I was a baby, and even though I'm near 30, he still has a special place in my heart. It was such a nice feeling to be so up close to a character I've looked up to for so long. The show itself was really adorable, and it's such a shame that it's gone now.

I love Barney! He taught me that anything's possible if you use your imagination. And I continue to use my imagination because I believe in him. I felt sad when I found out that A day in the park with Barney was closed and replaced. But whatever the creators of the Barney TV show has planed, I'm sure we'll see Barney again!

Even though I haven’t stepped foot near the attraction since my little sis was a baby… My mom and dad told us stories of how me and my twin brother (around 1999) absolutely loved this show and went nuts over it when we were toddlers. We have old pictures with Barney too. Wish I could have been able to take my kids there.

Ironically enough, Universal just announced that DreamWorks Destination (along with most of the rest of Woody Woodpecker KidZone) is closing in January 2023, meaning that it was pretty much a stopgap replacement until Universal could figure out what to do with that section of the park (aside from ET Adventure, which seems like will remain open for as long as Steven Spielberg is still alive, and the SpongeBob store/meet and greet).

I remember this! We went to Orlando once when I was a kid, visiting both Disney World and Universal Studios. I seem to remember Barney appearing out of mist though. I didn't remember Mr. Peekaboo until you showed him, but now he seems very familiar. Sad that the attraction is gone now, i might have taken future kids of my own some day, both for their enjoyment and my nostalgia.
