Saw it as a kid in a cinema in Greece, still remember my heart beating, still that feeling comes back everytime I come across scenes. Epic. McQueen an icon gone too soon.
Breathtaking, heart ❤️ pounding epic music 🎼 and movie 🎥
Saw it at age 12 in pre-revolution Iran back in 1972. One of my favorite movies to this date.
One of the greatest films ever made in the 1960s alongside The Italian Job, Dr No and Goldfinger.
My kinda guy!
Just watched it for the first time, it's soooooo good!
You spelt The Good, The Bad and the Ugly wrong.

God bless you, Humberto. Zulu for my Father and I.
this movie is timeless
Sadly, Steve McQueen passed away in 1980. James Garner, Richard Attenborough and all of the actors died in this. R.I.P to them.
David McCallum and I think James Coburn are still with us.
@@mikesullivan6898 James Coburn passed away at the age of 72 in 2002.
David McCallum is still alive.
@@TJPatriot74Not anymore. :(
@@mikesullivan6898David McCallum passed away a few weeks ago. RIP 🪦 to them all! Thank you. Thank you to the 50 men who inspired them! Happy Veterans Day!
Steve McQueen's character was already classic before he ever got on a bike then he's perfect probably doing all his own stunts that's what made me get on two wheels
Classic movie seen it many times and still enjoyed it
"The Great Escape"(1963) is an excellent action adventure war movie!
Yes
I agreed and it's one of my most favorite movie too.
Ones of the best movies of all time
One of the finest movies ever made, hands down, a film like Avengers Endgame can be a rightly deserved International Phenomenon, but there will always be THE Sunday afternoon classic, need to rewatch this film its been nearly a year and i feel ashamed of that
I LOOOVE THIS MOVIE THIS IS A TRUE CLASSIC
Beautiful, wonderful, touching movie. Thanks.
Brave, and very creative, men. Thanks for posting!
An alltime classic movie with a cast for the ages. It's always been a Christmas staple on UK television.
Coming out restored on blu-ray this May.
my mother took me to see it in the theatre when I was 9 or 10 years old. incredible movie. in the lobby of the theatre they had replicas of some of the actual equipment the prisoners built for the escape. I remember looking at the breathing apparatus equipment and was amazed by it.
Wow!
Best movie EVER
Agreed
Why is the music so pleasant lol
The Great Escape was released on the 4th of July, 1963 in the United States. That was 60 years ago today. This was two weeks after its UK release on the 20th of June
One of the best movie ❤️ from India
Wow what a cast.
Wow, I'm a huge war movie fan and I never ran across this movie. I didn't have to scroll down long at as almost every comment said this was a masterpiece, greatest movie they seen.
Thanks to everyone who recommended this one. 😊
Made my night to relax and watch a good, long movie. I know there a lot more black and white or older movies that are too tier, any other ones I should check out?
The Bridge on the River Kwai
Rest in peace David mcullum
Love the song "On the fifth day of Christmas my true love send to me. FIVE GOLD RINGS."
I remember in high school when our teacher told us that Steve McQueen had died. We all grieved.
I’m about to watch this movie for the first time
great movie
If maestro Sturges called for a project in the sixties stars lined up immediately. This is likely his masterpiece besides The Magnificent Seven and Bad Day at Black Rock. The cast alone is marvellous: Big X, the scrounger, the forger, the manufacturer and the two kings, the Cooler King aka King of Cool Steve McQueen and mighty Charles Bronson as the claustrophobic and intense Tunnel King. A must watch.I watched it once in solitary confinement believe it or not (only I had no baseball).
To be honest, I think Rick Dalton should’ve been chosen for Hiltz
Big Kahuna who is he?
B K DiCaprio’s character from Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. The movie recreated a scene from this film

Great
Great entertainment from Hollyweird. The truth is that there were No Americans involved in the real great escape, no James Garner, no Charles Bronson, no Steve McQueen and certainly no motorcycle stunts.
I always hoped for a remake. I thought Daniel Craig would be a good Hiltz....if he could do a good American accent. You could get some really good actors and Tom Hanks because he's in everything and he would fit.
Fun fact. The Motorcycle "Fonzie"in the opening credits of the TV show Happy Days is riding is the Motorcycle Steve McQueen is riding.
The best war movie in history
It's a movie that does not really get old, REALLY WELL
The best??? Come on. Maybe for you...
Consult The Deer Hunter as well
major tom really aproves this movie
I believe the gentlemen supplying the narration was Vic Perrin
The Outer Limits narrator?
@@josephvitielo1693 that’s him…he was also the voice of the Oracle in the Star Trek episode “The City on the Edge of Forever”

Who is alive from the movie,I think David mcallumi is the only one alive
Sadly. As of a few weeks ago, he is more longer with us. But his legacy lives on.
I’m here because of jerry June and I think I’m going to watch this when I get home

Metal Gear
So that’s where Stephen King got the idea for THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION: they put the dirt from the hole they’re digging into their pants legs and let it sift out in the yard. Busted, Stephen…
So Chicken Run was inspired by This film?

Is this movie about world War 2? Please anyone answer me fast
Yes
@@JukeboxJellyJ ok thanks
Yes. Allegedly
I believe now that David McCallum has died that means the entire cast is gone.

do they make it out

Very few.
Two did.
They could have just hit the bunk bed and escaped through a tunnel 😆
norman reedus
Hideo Kojima.
Men were men. They bowed to no one.
Great movie highly inaccurate as far as the number of Americans involved with the actual escape.....very few if any at all
.
I'm not sure if any Americans got out but but there were some in the camp. My brother went to school with the son of one.
Who cares? The film 🎞️ is dedicated to the 50 doomed men. There were plenty of unfortunate American 🇺🇸 POW’s and we are responsible for making sure that this epic story was told and that POW’s bravery and grit is recognized.
I like this movie a lot but I can't watch it because its depressing as hell
i found it inspiring
BANDUAN PERANG TENTERA GERMAN
Great movie, although I have to say, the prison camp they were locked up at seems like a cheap hotel with a lousy service, rather than a prison camp. It doesn't compare to the horrors which took place at Auschwitz.
Airforce prison camps were the ones with the best treatments for POW’s.
The Germans also hoped the same thing for downed German airmen.
Not so great, only 3 got away. Most were captured, many were shot. Not great to me. 4-26-2022
Von Ryan’s Express was better.
Only thing I didn't like about Von Ryan's Express was that Ryan was killed by the Germans at the end just as everyone else got away. In the book he not only got away with the rest but got to show, very briefly, another side of his character.
I love both
