I hope everyone watching this appreciates what you are getting here for free. Knowledge that is usually kept behind thousands of dollars of workshops. Roman, you are truly sharing gold. I've learned so much only in the last few months watching your channel. Thank you, really!
Glad you are enjoying Vietnam Roman. I travelled around Vietnam then Laos and Cambodia in January. Its an amazing part of the world, and like you say photography heaven. Opportunities around every corner. The bonus I found was people are rarely suspicious of people with cameras which helps great. Enjoy Saigon. If you found crossing the roads nerve wracking in Hanoi with hoards of bikes with entire families aboard them, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Saigon is terrifying. Crossing the road there reminded me of the old video game Frogger. As you may have already worked out, walk out, just look ahead, but dont stop or hesitate. I never saw a single accident in my time there. Enjoy ;) Clive
Thank you for your continued sharing. Hearing your thought process helps my neurodivergent brain understand my own thought process. Your photography book & camera set up guides have helped me immensely.
Best photographer on RUclips. Genuine, shares huge amounts of information that can help beginners through to more experienced photographers and takes great photos. Keep it up, Roman!
Lots of videos teach composition but few teach how to describe photos themselves like this one does. This helps me learn to articulate what makes photos "good" in my opinion, a difficult skill without formal training. It's like learning an instrument by ear. Thanks for the great content
I live in Hà Nội. About a week to ten days ago, I was cycling through the old quarter and saw in the near distance 3 guys walking towards me with cameras in hand, clearly photographers. Photographers on a photo trip rather than tourists taking photos. The first guy I didn't know and then I thought, hey that's Roman Fox and then hey, that's James Popsys. By the time I thought yes, I'm sure that was you and decided to introduce myself, I'd lost you in the crowds. I hope you had a good time. Great photos and video, thanks.
I’ve watched many of your videos from different places. But being familiar with the city makes me understand how much work that was put in making these photos👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼. Very nice video!!!
5:50 - I kinda feel like the tuktuk helps, because of the whole "odd numbers" rule. Lady, other guy, tuktuk makes for three instead of a pair. Really loved this video, Roman. Got a lot from it. Nice leading lines on the farmer in the foreground of the spaceship. Did you see the movie The Creator? Kind of gave me these vibes, if you'd beaten this thing to teal and orange in post. ;)
Really enjoy videos like this Roman very interesting to hear your thought process. My favs shots probably the telephoto bridge image and the countryside scene with the "spaceship". I'm guessing it was James who was desperate to grab a shot of the latter as he seems to love a combination of nature and something man made.
I have to say that at a location like the one at 3:09 I wouldn't have ever seen anything in that chaos and just passed through it. Then seing the result at 3:30 I can tell how blind I am, easily one my 2024 favorite shots.
Some of the frames I like better when you showed them in video version. For example the bridge with lots of scooter traffic was better than the 135 mm shot.
I am currently in Vietnam too going up north! So many shots opportunities compared to Belgium 😁. I am shooting a Q2 and a Pentax 17, left the XH2 at home this time. Thanks for the video and as always your shots are amazing!
I think you need to refer back to your previous video. You described some scenes as “point and shoot” which I tend to disagree with. They are excellent shots! ….postcard snaps indeed. I’ve only been to HCMC which is obviously very similar but with mopeds on steroids! Would love to see a Vietnam guide
Great one! Could you perhaps make a post or video about your new presets? I bought the old version and can't judge to what extent the new ones differ. In your blog, you haven't labelled the sample images with the respective preset names, so I can't make a comparison there either. Cheers!
Hey Roman, do you find that your blog is getting good traction? I really loved it when you started posting on it since sometimes I feel like reading more than watching and listening. But my own endeavors have resulted in WAY more views on my channel than visitors to my blog. Just wondering how you see it, if it’s worth maintaining both?
Someone beat me to it. I was just going to say that the shots with church/cattle and cattle/farmer/ spaceship were James Popsys influenced. Which is certainly no bad thing .
Thanks so much Roman I too like this format. I’m curious about something. What part of England do folks pronounce th like an f sound. I’ve heard others with the same manner of speaking.
@@snapsbyfox wow you really invest a lot in traveling! best investment in photography in my opinion. when you do come back to china you'd be surprised how much things have changed!!

I agree. Paid a lot of money in the past and learned less
You are a very good teacher Roman

I really like this format. Your explanation of the photo you are taking is excellent. Well done you.

Roman, I can't thank you enough for what you're doing!
Some of the best work I've seen this year. Masterclass.
Really love this format, more of this please. I’m dyslexic so reading then trying to comprehend someone’s process is a struggle

My best portfolio images are from Vietnam, absolute heaven!
Another a great day out. Keep them coming
Great video Roman! Thinking about buying an XT5 despite all the fuzz about autofocus:-) I love the colours coming from the Fujifilm cameras.
Enjoying the evolution of your style. Different but still you.
I really enjoy travel photography with each photo. There’s a story.
Thanks for providing the thought process, its interesting. Must have fun hanging with James

Haha yeah that was us. The other lad was @jordhammond. He’s here often
Perfect… so much of videos are camera reviews, but you contribute a lot to educational side of photogrphy.
That Old Quarter area of Hanoi is truly excellent.
This kind of practical information is more valuable than every tutorial out there. Keep spreading your knowledge man

Stunning images, Roman. Some of them have a painterly quality that I absolutely love.
Love the second shot from the bridge. All pictures are so good. Thanks for explaining the process
Loved it. Lot of inspiration for me and very useful tips.
I'm sure more content like this, from time to time, would be very appreciated.
Man you are on top of your game right now, amazing work. 8:06 is insane!
This is a great video! Beautiful photos and a perfect explanation analysis of every choice you made! 👏
I enjoyed your thought process on each shot. Nice way to mix up the content. Thank you!
Your photos from here have been SO good
thank you for the video, very helpful;)
Great stuff, Roman. Really enjoyed that.

Great pictures and explanations of them too 😊👍🏻
Have you ever considered producing a hard copy of your 'little photography book'. It would be good to get away from the computer screen?
That would be great I would also love a hard copy

Roman, watching your content since your early days. What a prosperous journey and growth mate! If i could i would subscribe twice 😄👌🙏
Pure poetry 🙏🏻
Very informative, more of that please.

Wellcome to Ha Noi 😍

I did photo here every weekend. Endless Enthusiasm
Loved it!
1:18 what a great inspiration
The thumbnail photo is so James Popsysish in a good way!
Great Video !

Great video Roman… we have Vietnam on pur list, and can’t wait to go there… what lenses did you use for the video? Thanks in advance… 👍🏻
Fuji 18, 33, 90 so in FF 28, 50, 135
Wow, love the sweeping man in front of green and orange tarps! So well spotted and perfectly executed!
Hey Roman, what camera/processing have you used on the video clips in this video? I really dig the look actually. Also, lovely images! Cheers.
Would I be wrong in assuming you wished you had a camera with better dynamic range there?
Yea. I’ve always tell people to visit hanoi not ho chi minh. The former just give better experience overall and more photography opprtunity.
Wow. Nice

Am I seeing things? Roman shooting with a Canon camera and an RF 15-35 F2.8 lens?
Good choice my friend 😊
haha nah not mine, my mates. it’s too bulky for me tbh
Great shots! What preset did you use?
Thanks so much Roman I too like this format. I’m curious about something. What part of England do folks pronounce th like an f sound. I’ve heard others with the same manner of speaking.
south maybe haha
The video looks amazing, would you happen to sell a lut?
I have no idea what im doing with video still, so that’s a long way away tbh… if at all
hey Roman, would you be able to help me with what grain setting you used? Is it post or in camera? Strong large, weak small? Thanks in advance
in Lightroom just boost it a tiny bit. Around 30 or so
@ thank you sir
Roman would you come to China sometime, if you do I recommend Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province on a weekday (less tourists)
I’ve spent over a month there back in 2015 so I have no major rush to come back honestly. But never say never
@@snapsbyfox wow you really invest a lot in traveling! best investment in photography in my opinion. when you do come back to china you'd be surprised how much things have changed!!
What aperture do you usually shoot at
🏂
Being in Hanoi, you should ring up Justin Mott @askMOTT. That would be a great collaboration video!
