What I don’t like about these commentators is they always convince themselves of a narrative from the start and don’t change it even though the fight is clearly not the way they’re describing it.

Watching this after the Saunders-Canelo fight is interesting... I feel as if Canelo saw things from this fight. The main thing being that, once the fight drags on into the 2nd half and beyond, when Saunders no longer has the energy to evade exchanges with pure leg-explosiveness, he starts using that "bend over at the waist" as an instinctive reaction to heated exchanges quite frequently... There are several instances where Eubank throws the right uppercut, and Saunders makes the wrong read and bends over at the waist thinking its possibly a right cross or hook. Billy is essentially throwing "paper" when Eubank throws "scissors", yet he still manages to get away with it because Eubank doesnt have the same vision, experience, calmness, and precision as a seasoned Canelo. In retrospect now its clear to see how Canelo hunted and exploited that hole in Billy's game (of which there arent many).

Him and Nigel benn took part in a tv show where they competed against each other in Roman style physical challenges. Can’t remember what it was called, but it was fairly recent and they were both pretty fit and in good shape.

This was an awesome fight. Billy showed his skill making him miss, turning him, picking shots. But damn Eubank jr showed tremendous heart. A little clumsy but he threw everything he had at him, and kicked it up in the last round. Wow

One of the most biased commentary I've ever heard in a fight. Everything saunders threw was cheered on by the commentary team as good shots, whether is landed or not. Eubank on the other hand never landed a clean shot if u listen to them. Very close fight.

I always supported Chris Jnr, but he's proven he doesn't belong at the top level, he's just an average British level boxer, who bullies smaller opponents in training, and hasn't got even half of the talent & heart that his dad had.
BJS is now fighting Canelo, and Eubank Jnr hasn't had more than a couple of fights in 3 years. Says all we need to know.

The referee placed a bet on BJS and effectively cut out Eubank Jr 's competitive advantage.
Draw would've been a better result. Saunders started strong, but Eubank closed out so convincingly. I think the reason Saunders was scored higher is because when he was dominating in the early rounds Eubank didn't show much, but getting smacked around he still tried to fight back and even got some hits in. Still should've been a draw, especially after the way Eubank mauled him in the last 3 rounds.

The funny fact is that apparently nobody noticed how many times the refere break the clinches specially those when Saunders was in very bad condition given him time to recover. Fighters are suppose to interchange punches even in the clinch.
If Saunders's arms were 2" longer some of this commentary would be accurate.

@Money 2.2 He won't best canelo in my opinion. If I'm honest he probably wouldn't beat Eubanks now in my opinion. Eubanks is improving under Roy Jones Junior and has a lot of potential while I'd be certain that if Saunders have improved he hasn't made as big an improvement as Eubanks. These fighters and promoters need to give us the big fights so we can see for real who is the best and stop the dodging out here.
It will be a good fight to watch though.

@@Kashmachine10 the way I saw it, eubank nicked a couple of the late rounds, but his ring general ship was terrible. He couldnt push billy back, and generally looked unsightly on his heels.
His balance was sorely lacking and billy looked far more planted and settled and utilised the floor much better than eubank.
Billy also fought well on the offensive, landing more clean shots and although eubank generally looked to land power punches, (which some judges like so I'm not knocking that approach) but billy.definitely scored a significantly higher number of jabs and hooks, therefore, again in my opinion, billy landed more clean shots and therefore won the clean and effective scoring battle too.
Eubanks defence was far inferior to Billy's, particularly in regards to the footwork they both exhibited. As I said earlier billy looked far more planted on his feet and generally appeared to have the superior balance and Billy's general movement was far superior to euabnks which is why eubanks misses so many shots. Billy takes the win in the defence scoring too.
So the final scoring battle, the effective aggression, was the only real battle as far as I could see between eubanks and Billy jo.
Eubanks can bang, and his shots carry power, and he landed some decent shots in billy jo, particularly in the later rounds, but he was simply missing far too many shots, whereas billy wasnt landing as many powerful shots but his accuracy and range of shots were slightly better than eubanks, and although I didnt see the compubox stats, I'm sure Billy's accuracy was better than eubanks, and whilst some may argue on this final point, the way billy dominated the three other scoring criteria is why I believe it wasnt as close as people seem to think.
Saunders keep getting hit with body shots. Remember Canelllo hits hard to the body.

It was a close fight yes. But I don't agree with your comment on his fitness. He's clearly soft and fleshy here as he has been for many of his fights. The fact is he has trouble applying himself. But when he does he comes in on the shape he did against Willie munroe and David lemeuix.

I boxed to become a copper (5 matches of 2-minute rounds) and I found boxing to be by far the most exhausting difficult sport to engage in by far and away.
I used to box 3x2’s and they were brutal and I thought I was fit. Couldn’t imagine what goes through a fighters brain in those championship rounds. Take my hat off to them.
Chris had some impressive even single hitter counter punches that looked quite impactful in the event of landing.

Pretty hard not to be, considering he won and all.
I thought the commentators were fair. I disagreed with the scoring of the initial round, as I saw Eubank winning Round One. Eubank threw the hardest punches, and threw more punches but missed far more punches than Sanders. Eubank was clearly the far more inaccurate puncher than Sanders. Sanders landed way more flush punches. If Sanders had more power he would have scored a KO in the 9th round.
Jr lost the first 5 rounds and looked sloppy so it's understandable

First time I’ve watched this fight. Eubank is absolutely shocking, throws a big right, ends up totally off balance. Saunders totally out boxing him in the first 4 rounds. Lost count of how many times Eubank throws the right and misses. Reading some of the comments there’s a good few who need to find another sport.

Saunders was too grabby the whole fight, he wrapped up Eubanks every single round, but in the end I feel like Eubanks won. Was an absolutely cracking fight. Eubank Jr swinging wild at times but he caught Saunders flush at times as well.

Did one judge give it to Eubank by three rounds? Really dude! Eubanks was throwing heavy shots, but 80% or more of them missed. Because he was throwing wildly, he didn't land that many clean shots.

Saunders won on pretty split rounds with tippy-tappy jabs that did no damage to Eubank. Eubank had the more impressive punches but didn't get going until the middle of the match. Commentators were straight up piss.

To be fair to Eubank Snr he wasn't telling him how to sit down on his stool he was talking about sitting down into his punches. As in plant his legs and drive from ground up through the hips. He says sit down bend your legs and let them go in 3s and 4s.

@@errolkim1334 That was due to the far superior defensive skills of Sanders. When it comes to pure boxing skills, Sanders is in a different class. Sanders has much faster hands and feet than Eubank.
@@NewarkBay357 Ehhh, in range Eubank had little trouble landing on Saunders.
Saunders had great enough reflexes to just get back away from the Jab, but he wasn't able to consistently defend against Eubank's other punches.
I would say Eubank has the faster jab but it's a short one. Consistently he was able to throw out that awkward hooky jab and Billy Joe wouldn't even react before it clipped him. Billy Joe's jab landed sometimes but Eubank always saw it coming even if he didn't have a good way to defend against it.
Eubank avoided Billy Joe's power shots much more easily than Billy Joe avoided Eubank's. I think that's partially because Billy Joe has poor punch accuracy. His power shots don't land and he very rarely lands a good shot. Most miss over the top, are too long, glance over the top of the head, hit the shoulder, land too low on the chest or are just slaps. That might even contribute to the perception that he can't punch, maybe if his punchers were aimed better he would start dropping people.
Eubanks struggled with a southpaw ... looked off balance as BJS was turning him like he'd never fought one before.
Why was it that whenever eubank landed a big shot John Rawling would quickly say "but Saunders took it" as if that means the punch doesn't count?
