With an EVH 5150 it can be cool a review of the joe duplantier charvel signature (the white and cheap model) ?
You're right on that one Jamie I honestly would do the same if I ever bought one of those I would not only play Metallica but switch out the neck pickup with a EMG 60 to get that lead tone If I got a matte black one I would swap it out with the James Hetfield signature set and knows I tell you my experience trying out one of his signatures and the Epiphone EX 1984 Explorer at a guitar store those pickups sound ridiculously hot! They even remind me of Gus G's signature Seymour Duncan blackout signatures and I'm pretty sure from what I heard from James's interview with EMG that he was trying out the Dynamics of both passive and active at the same time

Just bought one in Australia for $1100. Absolutely amazing guitar, I've had it two weeks and I've probably already clocked in 100 hours on it. It is excellent and sounds great.

I have the same guitar since two years but in black.
I paid ~550€ for it and for that it's basically a bargain.
It came with a good setup and nearly no flaws at all, the only thing i had to do, was to clean the freatboard, because it was a bit dirty.
You get a lot of guitar for your money imo.

Mee too, I got the White one, setup was just right, everything was clean for me, got mine on sale for £470. absolute bargain. went to buy a music stand for £6 saw it and came away with a new guitar and still no music stand

Any chance of a comparison of mid to upper-mid range explorer guitars. I think theres some really slim pickings of guitars with a lot of mixed reviews unless you're splashing the cash so a comparison review would be great. Especially with schecter E ranges in the mix and jackson releasing the demelition fury.

It’s odd because James (before he got his own signature pickups) used EMG 81/60’s. And I thought the epiphone 1984’s had that set. I guess not Completely dope guitar though. I Want one so bad
Hi jamie! Love the videos! Could you make a tutorial please on how to master alternate picking or any tips on how to get the hang of it? I can play pretty much any song i want but i can only play downpicking. I think this is limiting my playing alot, since i cant play any of the LoG songs because of this, really would like to hear on how you learned it ! Thanks

There's a bit too much gain, the whole tone is kind of fizzy and muddy on the low end. I don't know if active pickups are to blame for that, I never tried one.
Still, definitely one of my favourite guitars I'd love to buy one day.

This guitar style is my dream. Big Metallica fan of course like Jamie or most of you writing here :) I like the Snakebyte that JH has now but this classic Explorer shape takes me back to Justice (my favorite album) or the Black Album (with the first ESPs he used that had the same shape). I've been looking for one but it's just used only god knows where. Do you know if you can still find them new? Or do think Epiphone might bring these back? The new ones have the classic shape but the knobs and switch and pickups seem to be different.

I think the whole distortion setting is too fuzzy and noisy or its just my idea .
You need less gain to have better and tighter tone for the rhythm parts.

I used to have one of these, now got the gothic Epi SG with EMG's loaded in it. Much prefer the SG altho I suppose they're essentially the same guitar. Maybe it's cos explorers are pretty big and i'm.. not lol. Anyway nice vid

Jamie went through them in the video about 2 minutes in. They’re EMG 81 in the bridge and EMG 85 in the neck

@ognilouD driB if you're comfortable with that, that's cool. If it's audible through an amp than it becomes an issue for me. Just add a little more neck relief and it's gone most of the time. Unless your low E string has a 1.2mm string action or something

@@JamieSlays the sanitarium verse i think. ive been learning it and i think a slide u do or smth sounds off (i learnt from songsterr so might be wrong)
at 4:38 in the end of the seek and destroy intro riff its 5-7 but on the string lower not upper.
and for the master of puppets chorus riff at 6:44 i think u r doing the slide a bit early.
but u have really great guitar skills and i didn't want to belittle u or anything i just thought they sounded a bit off or something. i might be wrong too since im just learning by ear and internet tabs

Talk about never meeting your heroes. I always wanted one of the ESP originals, but since those are as rare as hens teeth, i figured these Epi's would be a good alternative. My local store got two in and i had a go. The build quality is substandard and the fit and finish are frustratingly bad. The fretboards are as dry as chalk, fret ends popping out, the tuning pegs have so much play in them you can turn them almost a whole rotation before the gears bite. Absolute garbage guitars, not worth the almost 700 quid asking price.
I loved it. I thought it was great!

Dude I bought a 1958 goth explorer because it was cheap af on Facebook I played it and loved it and I originally wanted to buy this but none were on Facebook I could have tried reverb but I know of problems so for me it was easier to see the guy in person but I originally planned to get this model none on Facebook so I settled for the 1958 because it’s explorer and it was cheap but once I bought it this model started popping up everywhere on Facebook and I was fucking fuming Ik I could just buy another guitar but it’s not that simple I got people watching me ahhaha gf and parents man they interrogate me if I walk through the door with a couple sets on strings like how much where u go how much were they was it worth it and I say well yea strings are worth it cause I can’t play my guitars without em 😂😂😂😂
If it makes you feel better,I once was saving for a Jason Hook Epiphone explorer and when I finally had enough for it,I didnt buy it. I bought a Matt Heafy Epiphone Les Paul custom instead and after that the Jason Hook was discontinued. Imagine a guitar you wanted for like 4 years being taken away from you without you being able to do anything about it. I felt so stupid. The Matt Heafy was great but I let it go like an idiot and they too got discontinued. Now it seems that EMG pickups aren't coming stock in guitars anymore and i love EMGs so it's a bit of a bother but not much.
I ramble too much sorry...
Tl:dr I saved up for one guitar and bought a different one instead because I'm an idiot

Nice guitar but you can get something with way more value and quality for the same price of this basic thing . It’s practically the same guitar as the goth series except for the pickups, 12 inlay and finish. Epiphone charges 400 more for the same thing.
