    Processing the second half of the rod. Folding traditional steel, oroshigane. Yoroi doshi style blade forging. Used to pierce armor. Massive back and tip area. Hardening of the blade in zubu-yaki style, without the use of clay.

    Great work as always! The blade is just wow! And I must notice, that despite all the differences in technology and style, common tasks produce very much look-alike solutions. Compare the blade profile to the European panzerbrecher daggers and you'll see some stunning similarities.

    Whats the reason tripping water on the blade after the quench?

      the first is hardenig. Then heating to about 200°C. The water on the blade shows the temperature. If it starts to boil immediately, the temperature is sufficient. This heating reduces the stress in the steel.
