Hello Ash, that was just wonderful. I was a history major at university, so please do more on the history side of things, i absolutely loved it. Also, Terry, your lighting is gorgeous. Ash, you are so natural in talking to camera. I am awful and so shy! You should do more presenting. You are a real pro. Well done, gentlemen, well done! Now, my request is, can you please show us what the grand salon would have looked like with that panneling Ash is talking about? I would love to see it!
You really should have that info made into a book. It would be great to have that available for your guests to purchase. Very interesting info. Thanks for sharing it w us.
More please!!!! My gosh Ash, that started my day with so much joy! You are a natural story teller. I admit I sometimes wander when I attempt to listen to long stories about history, but you kept me on point throughout. Thank you so much!
This is so fascinating. Although when Ash was showing the empty stairwell in the dark, did anyone else see a face? Maybe I am getting old. Great job guys.
And now your family has joined the line of people that have owned the chateau, you are just as amazing as the rest of them. Probably the most important ones that are saving the chateau.
Ash, you are the consummate story teller. It is not a common ability, but you have it in spades. Thanks for the story you’re telling us today. Please feel free to make another 60, or so, other episodes of the history behind La Lacelle. I’ll watch every single episode.
Great piece of history. But I’m all goosy having just seen the ghostly face emerging from the cellar followed by the gray lady walking across the hallway. Spooky!
I think a book written on the chateau history is in order. Your excitement about its history is contagious. It's fascinating to hear of the lives that have passed thru your chateau over the centuries.
The French Riviera was already a well-known health tourism destination by the 1800s for lung & breathing disorders, but Menton became synonymous with TB recuperation after a British doctor wrote several papers & a book in the 1880s specifically about it being the perfect place to recuperate from tuberculosis. If you look at the records of the deaths of the 2 previous chateau owners who died in Menton they will probably mention TB or something similar (I only know about this as my PhD was on place-related health & wellbeing, and I remember reading about this, albeit many years ago!).
This Episode just made your channel catapult to another level. Ash this was so exciting and wonderful to hear that your “ lady” in the woods is 300 yrs young! And all the amazing hard work you are all doing to bring her back to life , truly has such great meaning and history. You and your family are Making your Own History by bringing this Chateau back to its Glory. Could not have chosen better caregivers! Can’t wait for parts 2,3,4……
Absolutely fascinating Ash, all of you are so brave in taking on such a project and look where you are now, part of Lalacelle’s story, bringing her beauty back to life 😊
Loved it and loved learning a bit more about the history of the chateau. Yes please, keep them Coming. And ash, what a superb story teller you are. Well done! Xxx
Ash, thank you for so eloquently sharing some of the history of LaLacelle and the fascinating characters that shaped her. I’m sure future generations will look back in amazement at the family who brought her back to life in the early 21st century!
Et l’histoire se poursuit avec vous et votre talent, courage et détermination. Bravo et merci pour ce Moment bien agréable. J’attends la suite du prochain épisode ! 😉 Nathalie
The part about the eyebrows was in relation to the color; light brown hair and eyebrows. Loved hearing the history today look forward to more in the future!
Ash! That was fantastic! Your face gets so animated when you speak, you could be talking about the electric bill and it would be interesting! 🥰. The history of the Chateau is so precious and anything you find out, you know we all want to hear.
Ash, such an amazing story concerning the Chateau. What a fascinating life the owners lived. It's great to understand more about the Chateau and the surrounding lands. Thanks for taking us to another place in time. Kathy USA 🇺🇸
OMG, Ash! I love ❤history anyway, but the stories of previous owners, what they did to the Chateau mane their lives is so interesting. Please consider doing another episode of the history of the Chateau every once in a while. It’s fascinating.
I love learning the history of buildings. Where I live I often wonder about some of the old homes - who built them, what kind of work did they do, how much of an impact were they on society, etc. So please continue to share the chateau's history.
I have to admit Ash you could be talking about paint dry and I would listen, soothing voice....this was very interesting...300 years old...lovely to believe it will now be there in another 300 years....now what about ghosts
All this history would be amazing to put into a book(s) for your guests to enjoy. Pictures of the restoration you've done are part of the continuing story of the Chateau.
Fabulous narration, would be even more stunning if you put all this together into a book, and carrying it forward noting your own history, PICTURES, bits of wallpapers in the rooms etc etc. Including pictures of your renovations and discoveries! For future generations. Truely AMAZING. Would love to hear MORE XX❤
I really think that this year, you ought to renovate/refurbish those two wrought iron "over hangs" on either side of that entrance, get them scrubbed off, cleaned up and painted and install the panels on it above....it will look so great when those are FINALLY done..and they also shield people from the elements when coming and going in and out! To know the history of your Chateau is amazing and I hope you keep uncovering even more!
Absolutely fascinating history. I thoroughly enjoyed Ash's presentation on two of the past owners. I really believe that knowing the history of the chateau adds to its charm and importance. Can't wait to hear more.🏰❤
That is amazing information! Thanks to all who helped research and provide it to LaLacelle.❤ I love that the current owners want to know the history, respect the structure and the stages it went through, and are renovating carefully. Not many people have the renaissance skills of Ash, Tracy and Terry. Nor are there many able and dedicated to spending every day working on such an exciting project. Thank you for sharing your amazing dream with us!
I really love a bit of history! When you opened the cellar door and the ghostly face appeared made me jump. But I love that sort of thing. Ashley, the way you enthuse over the information you’ve been given, draws us in and takes us back to those times. Magnificent! Can’t wait to hear more. ❤
I love that the history is coming out. I love knowing the people, history and all the personal happenings around this awesome place. Envious that you all are restoring, rebuilding this amazing place and returning it to a home.
Hearing the history of the chateau is enjoyable. Hope you do more and maybe have a timeline chart. You missed an opportunity by not showing the fragment of the grande salon's original paneling..
History is my jam so this content is too. France has lost track of an astonishing amount of both its pre-Revolutionary history and in more recent times so I applaud any attempt to reconnect with the past history of the building and the people .
I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the history of this beautiful chateau and would love to hear more about it. Thank you for going to all this trouble to share this with us.
I love the genealogy of the Chateau and now you are part of that history. Ash, you are a wonderful storyteller! There are probably pictures/drawings/photos in some Archive of the former owners and it would be lovely to have them all represented in a gallery inside Lalacelle.
It is always good to know the history of the chateau who lived there and how old the chateau is , and what you told us is fantastic so thanks for sharing that information it is wonderful 👌👌🐕🐈⬛🥀🌼🌼🏵🌹
As incredible at your tireless restorations are, this research on the history and former owners of Lalacelle completes the story of your wonderful property. Thank you for all your efforts and sharing the stories with us.
Ash, you did a wonderful job of telling the story but it would have been pretty cool to link in the past video where it showed you guys finding the burnt areas and also linking in where you were talking about the pretty wall and area with the stairway that is no longer there. I love hearing the history and by all means keep going.
So interesting! It just makes the imagination run wild to think about what the chateau would have been like during those times in the past. How wonderful that you're looking to preserve that history and pay homage to it with your own renovations to the chateau!
I loved hearing the history of the chateau and the original owners Ash. I wonder if they knew back then that loss of eye lid and eye brow hair was sometimes a clinical feature of syphilis :)
OMG - what was the shadow skull face that appeared in the dark stairwell when Ashley first showed it???!! Very interesting vlog. Lots of research went in to it. Well done, team Lalacelle! ! Life was sure “interesting” (challenging) in the past. Looking forward to further discoveries!
What an interesting episode this evening. Ashley, your enthusiasm for the subject is infectious. I love to learn about things that have happened in our homes. I've got documentation about the people who owned our 1875 home, including the German Jewish doctor who escaped Nazi Germany, and went on to be the town mayor. Love as always from County Durham xxx ❤
I love to hear these types of stories. So fascinating who were the previous owners and putting the time frames together. I hope you do more videos like this in the future! Love, love, love!!
